Well Jozy Altidore has the American fanbase, there are a few soccerball fans in America and they're all nuts enough about the game to follow players on Twitter.

However, you've given me renewed hope AJ. We may get Ireland after all.

I might be in a minority but I have never been convinced we were in for Ireland in the first place, I just wondered if those twitter pages are all legit.

Doesn't look very realistic me. I'd have thought he'd update it more than that compared to other Footballers, and look at his comment about Dunne going to Sunderland last year.

Not a big fan of Twitter I genuinely only think it's only worth doing if you're taking the piss.

I'm not the type to do all this 'John is going to post on H&V', 'John is going to go out for a run' and 'John is pissed off with greenfly'

Either I'm a deeply boring person or maybe one who lacks self-obsession.

With you on this, John. I find it a bit typical of a culture where everything is bite-size, without depth, trivial. It's also, as you say, a bit self-obsessed.

What I've heard is that it is most likely from Spartak Moscow (as implied in the article) as they are really, really keen to sign him. If they feel that strongly about it then we should let them get what they want if you ask me.

We probably won't sign him if we don't sell Milner anyway. Interest from other clubs than Spartak hasn't materialised.

I don't know. That's six players I've targeted there to 'sell' and we've already released Bouma and Harewood, who would have been on decent wages; Marshall and O'Halloran too but they won't have been on anything substantial.

So eight senior players out on high wages, four coming in - one of whom is 18 years old and from Cardiff so I doubt would command anything extortionate. It could be manageable.

But as ever, wages are always a bit of guesswork. I always question the accuracy of what gets reported in the media.
