There's really not much point getting panicky about the lack of signings. It's like this every year. That's what he does. It's annoying, yes, but getting pissed off about it is pretty pointless when you know it is going to happen.

This year, more than ever, we need to get some really good value for whatever money we spend, or we're looking at - at the very best - what we did last year and the two years before.

More of the same won't be enough this time, so I'm happy to wait and see what he does over the next four - five weeks (although hopefully, we'll do a chunk of it for the start of the season).

I don't know the stats to back this up, but in true pub science I'll carry on regardless. I can't remember many seasons were any of our managers have done much in July. Sir Bri did, but not too much more. MON signs when he is ready and the deal is to his satisfaction.

Just disassociate the kindly uncle like manager and think of the glory hunting sheep who support them, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Whining scouse accents and Steven Gerrard.

Haven't we under MoN made one early signing each year usually in July? I can think of Downing last year.

I don't care when he signs them now. I just want him to think out of the box and be imaginative with the money, because if he doesn't and the season doesn't suggest a progression to something much better, I think he'll be offski.
