Well I'll trust the manager's judgement on McGeady. What it does do is  put pay to SWP being part of any possible Milner deal.

As I said one another thread, this summer for Villa fans is really descending into a bit of a shocker. It's going to take something big to turn it round.

What, like the football season?

I still don't like your overtures. It won't happen.

Hold firm.

No other sides are doing any real business either. I'm sure Tottingham, Everton and Chelsea messageboards are packed with similar angst.

I'll only start getting all melancholic and listening to The Smiths if/when we miss out on potential targets.

Or sign McGeady.

does anyone honestly believe it will stay this way? We all know that we'll sign new players, and that most of the business will be done in the last 2 weeks. Which outside of Man City will be the case for most clubs.

I'm not depressed, actually. I will be if he situation is like this at the end of August, but as things stand I've seen no reputable links to McGeady, plenty of reputable ones to Keane and Ireland (both of whom I rate), and there have been plenty of promising performances from the youngsters as well. Time for sanity.

Monty surely you're picking what you decide are reputable links, M'ON has even spoken about McGeady.

He was presumably asked and gave his honest opinion. If the media hadn't already linked him to the player they'd have never asked. MON probably doesn't pay attention to paper rumours so never saw his comments in the same light the press did.

I'm actually quite calm if I'm honest. Whatever will be will be.

Still would like some songs though.

There's really not much point getting panicky about the lack of signings. It's like this every year. That's what he does. It's annoying, yes, but getting pissed off about it is pretty pointless when you know it is going to happen.

This year, more than ever, we need to get some really good value for whatever money we spend, or we're looking at - at the very best - what we did last year and the two years before.

More of the same won't be enough this time, so I'm happy to wait and see what he does over the next four - five weeks (although hopefully, we'll do a chunk of it for the start of the season).

He might not pay attention to paper rumours, but he cannot possibly be that naive.

I'm so resigned to nothing out of the ordinary this season I'm not that fussed either.

Aslong as we keep Ashley and Gabby I'll be happy.

Welcome to the world of 24 hours a day mass media and fans message boards. Most of us, I assume, are still using a sense of perspective.

Rumours Liverpool have bid for Scott Parker.
