I'd possibly add Bill Weimann and Bannan to that lot too John. But you're on the right lines I reckon.

I've been think about the out going players expected to leave and where that leaves us numbers wise.  We've got Milner to Man City, Luke Young to Liverpool, Heskey to Sunderland and Sidwell to Fulham, plus possibly Davies to Spurs, Shorey to Forest and Beye to somewhere, maybe back to Newcastle.  As there's not been anything really meaningful in relation to NRC, do we think he's going to stay and see out his remaning year?  I wouldn't say no to that given Delph's injury!!

I make our remaining squad to be:-
Keepers - the 2 Brads and Parish
Left back - Warnock
Centre back - Dunne, Collins, Cuellar and Clark
Right back - no fooker
Left wing - Ash and Downing
Centre mid - Petrov, NRC and Delph
Right wing - Albrighton
Strikers - Gabby, Carew & Delfouneso

17 in total.

So, presuming Lichaj and Lowry step up to take the reserve full back places, that leaves us a 1st choice right back, a right winger, 2 midfielders and a striker short of a well balanced squad.  Step forward Micah Richards, David Bentley, Scott Parker, Stephen Ireland and Robbie Keane.

Flamini instead of Parker for me. Other than that spot on.

I've liked Richards for a while (though plenty disagree) and think whilst he's been close to crap the past two years in the right team, with the right coach he can be effective and get back in the England squad.

Yes and when we signed Shorey. Be thankful I'm not manager.

I'm disappointed the Heskey rumour was balls. I'd got my hopes up.

I wasn't suggesting targets, just throwing out likely names to fill the gaps.  Were it me I'd go with that, except change Parker and Keane for Witsel and Huntelaar.

It gives us a 22-man squad, so I'd expect the likes of Weimann and Bannan to make it up to the 25.

Oh yes. I was kind of doing a half and half approach. I've not read the Parker- Spurs bid story yet so don't know what the bid was but I sense that Gollivan will take the piss on an asking price making Flamini a more likely target.

I think we will definitely sign Keane, Ireland and either Richards or Ohouha. A DM like Parker or Flamini is merely in the fairly possible column as  is a winger in Bentley or McGeady (Seems that the Spartak talks story was another made up Nursey rhyme).

Weimann and Bannan are I think under 21 so don't count in the 25 BTW.

A few Sunderland fans arrived and said they had heard serious links to him from ITK sources.

Little has happened since.

I think other supporters of clubs who are linked with him must come on to Villa sites, see the esteem in which he isn't held, then jam their local radio stations with calls not to to sign him.

So in that spirit, I'd like to say I've always rated Heskey, and think that used properly he'd be a bargain for another team.

I'd second that. Ignore the minority who think he's a bag of w**k.

Absolutely, in the right team he can be absolutely key. Surrounded by players like Darren Bent, Lee Cattermole and Titus Bramble in particular.

In fact he could just be the player Blackburn, Sunderland or Stoke need.

Now let the bidding war begin!
