Which team in the top 8 would he get into?

O'Neill only sticks with him cuz he parted with £8M for him. He is just not good enough. He gets away with it in a 4-5-1 but is shown up for what he is in a 4-4-2.

No one said he would.

Just that suggesting he is lazy is stupid. He won Player of the Season the season before last.

If Steve Bruce (who one day fancies the Man Utd job) signs Heskey for the third time he really needs his head seeing to.

That said, finger crossed.

Yeah, but plastic surgeons that good only exist in fiction.

Sky do this transfer page which lists transfers in and our with reference to club.
4 clubs have yet to sign anyone, and 1 club has 1 move only, Bouma out.

17 days to go before kick off

Despite all Harry's talk Spurs are the next slowest to Villa 2 out none in

Marshall, O'Halloran and Harewood have also departed and we have accepted a bid for Young and rejected a bid for Milner, so we've not been that quiet.  Last season we had a very big squad, which was not sustainable, even with 5 departures in Jan and so far this summer we still have 7 central midfielders in our first team squad for example, so it makes sense to shift a few first before signing replacements.

Everton and Liverpool for two.
I think some of the others (Chelsea apart) would find use for him in their squads too.

The Redscouse spent a large chunk of last season with Lucas in midfield.
I know who I'd rather have out of the two.

Petrov suffers for two reasons:

1. He's not an eye-catching explosive player. He doesn't bomb forward with speed or fly into tackles. But he doesn't need to. He anticipates well, rarely wastes possession and links play.

2. He's generally ran his race after the 70 minute mark because of the workload he has to take on.

If Luke wants to go, he can go. I admired his performances and he served us well - even having to play out of position at LB. Let's get N.Clyne and move on.

This is O'Neill's fifth summer in charge of Villa and we all know he likes to leaves transfers to the very last minute. So why are we all pulling our hair out and acting like it's the end of the world because we haven't signed anyone yet?

Petrov is a class player, you need an intelligent player in there to set the tempo, you can have an energetic headless chicken like NRC alongside him if you want, but certainly not instead of him, it would have a negative effect on everything else further forward in the team.

Petrov is good, he is more of a deep lying play maker than a defensive midfielder.

Some of his long passes are sublime, if that was Beckham the world would be creaming.

I just think now he's 31 (?) it's time to play 4-5-1 and get Delph (NRC) along side him to do the leg work.

The Hammers have offered the 29-year-old a new contract worth £20million over five years as proof that they intend to build their future around him

80k a week for five years, for a player who will be 34 at the end?
