Top work by the 'inside' man...so you might as well have an early 11 o'clocker.

There has been some real screaming going on - and that is why moves are afoot to land a striker.

I understand that Heskey at £2 million is the current hot topic, with Villa willing to sell and the player prepared to move.

However there is every reason to believe there are other options being pursued.

To be honest, the whole situation with the manager is probably bigger than landing a striker right now.

The paper will be running a Heskey tale, but I'm starting to think I should have done it about the manager and his future.

Thats from Nicko. Ding-dong get the ticker tape out, we just might, might be getting shot of the 60k p/w goal scoring phenom!

There's a select group of Prem sides, who I'd put money on making an offer for Heskey. Blackburn would be one of them. I think he'll end up there, Stoke, Bolton, or back at Wigan.

Just as long as we don't have him anymore.

Indeed. He is the nearest Fat Sam can find to Kevin Davies to build his Bolton MK2 side.

This better be on the level. I've just gone to uncork my best champagne.

What? You and Tim were still Heskey apologists the last I heard.

If my old and ill dog shat on the floor I'd apologise and thus be an apologist. It doesn't mean I wouldn't take the dog down the vets to be put down because it's ill and old.

In much the same way Heskey is a Villa player so I'll support him. It doesn't mean I'm absolutely desperate to see the back of him.

Can't speak for Dimothy though. He'll blame MoN for not getting the best out of him and he might have a point. Heskey never fitted in our team and whilst he possesses some qualities, indeed unique qualities they are not qualities we need. We were just fine.

Aye.

The way he hits the deck with such regularity is pretty unique.

6ft plus, 14 stone and about as much balance as a newborn giraffe.

He used to get called Bruno by the Leicester fans when he started out. I thought it was because of the physical resemblance, but 'arry's mate was no stranger to the floor either.

Just saw that last at the start of last Summer I expected our signings to be Upson, Distin, Veloso, Huddlestone and Owen.

So I think I'll stay away from guessing who we're gonna get.

Guys, there's no money.... MON has said as much in the B'ham Mail today. It's sell to buy or nothing. I think the squad will be weaker at the start of the season, with no creative midfielder or new top class striker recruited. A disgrace after all the optimism 4 years ago. Once again the club get to the point of needing extra quality only to fall back. You can't really blame Barry or Milner, the club can't go any further with the current regime. I think Lerner deep down realises as much given no funds for MON. I predict he will claw back as much of his investment as possible and sell up at a profit next year. After all, he only paid £64M to take over the club, but would more than double that by selling up - he's a businessman after all said and done.
I really hesitated about buying a season ticket this year, but bought in the end - now I wish I'd saved my £495.00 because it clearly ain't going on new players!

Rubbish! We need to sell before we buy because our wage bill is unsustainable. Randy has invested a lot of money in the club and there is no way he would make any profit on a sale. We have just confirmed that we are undertaking a long term development of the North Stand. There is no way he is here for a fast buck! He is here for the long term and he will continue to invest.

We'll see. So, if 4 years ago Mr Lerner had said we would have to sell before we buy, you'd have accepted that? This harks back to the Deadly Doug days! The simple fact is we can't compete with Spurs, Man City etc. Our better players will gradually be cherry picked by our wealthier counterparts as those players will not realise Champions League football at Villa Park. Just accept it that it's another false dawn.

How about you choose to believe that and i will choose to believe that i support a much better football club than i did four years ago. Did i expect more? Yes, but i also didn't expect Man City to be taken over by a billionaire and completly change the face of football. We can compete with Spurs and we will. Nobody can compete with Shitty and i don't think there is any shame is saying so. Randy will continue to pour money into the club i love and i am very grateful for it. At the moment i am very proud to be an Aston Villa fan, i dont think i could have said the same four years ago.

I admire your optimism, but the cold reality is that Mr Lerner won't pour cold cash into the club anymore - just read MON's comments in the B'ham Mail. Believe me, Lerner is preparing to exit - may be not immediately, but it's going to happen. He won't back MON as the current transfer policy bears out.

Anyone see how Ireland did in the Citeh v Sporting Lisbon game? Caught a bit of the 1st half and Sporting were all over them.
