clampy, i suggested bullard as a stop gap , but if you were there when we played hull when bullard was fit you wouldnt keep asking the question.

check the match threads , he was the best player on the pitch by a mile and recieved such rave reviews from our fans , the reception he got when he was carried off last season i think in some way reflects our fans appreciation of how good he was against the season before .

He didn't play against us the season before.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bullard, he's a decent player, but he hasn't got a track record of doing anything against us.

Was it the season before that then for Fulham? When he was brilliant?

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole now though.

I agree with you greg, we have had our chances in previous seasons , this season i doubt we get that close.

Randy has given mon great backing in the past and he failed to get us there and this season its tougher than ever.

its the old race analogy john. whats more impressive, actually being in 4th for periods of the race and finishing 6th or staying 6th all race.?

We were 4th at times last season.  Not that that has anything to do with you trying to convince us the manager has given up on 4th, when that's clearly not the case.

well perhaps you'll enlighten us to when we were 4th compared say to the season before .........

We were 4th for parts of the 09/10 season as we were also 4th for parts of the 08/09 season.  Yes, we may have been there longer in 08/09, but I judge our final finishing position (6th both times) and our points difference to 4th (less in 09/10) as a greater measure.

You would aswell, if it didn't suit your argument to view it the other way round.

when exactly were we 4th last season? Just interested..

Possibly.

I wouldn't either. Especially not as a stop gap replacement for an injured midfielder (which I think was the original suggestion).

His Celtic negotiations apparently broke down as he wanted 45k a week. Anyone paying that much to someone with his injury record must have parted with their senses. Or be Phil Brown.

The game when he scored the winner with that free kick late on , yes that was it ,he was brilliant that game against us , it was fulham my apologies clampy.

obviously ireland and keane would be my 2 top targets as posted on several occasions , but we do need cover in case petrov gets injured , as delph will be out till xmas at least.

i do not see why mon cant get his deals done in time for pre season as then players have time to adapt together instead of contantly leaving it until the last minute each year.

Exchanging Keane for Carew?

I'd want Martin sectioned, let alone replaced if he did that.

I'm not a massive fan of Keane, but I know I've had enough of Carew lumbering around at half pace and waving to the crowd now and again.

I know he bagged a few goals (and a few of them were penalties) but with his abilty and stength he should be bulldozing his way through teams. There's been too many times when he clearly is not up for it.

i fear harrys possibly decided to go for huntelaar and therefore hurried up the keane deal, as much as i would like keane i feel huntelaar would offer more goals .

I don't know where to find table for a ceretain point in the season, but it might have been after Burnley at home?

But we were.  And I think you know we were as well.

I completely agree about Carew and often fail spectacularly to make an argument like that when confronted by my mates who think he's great. I guess its just an opinion-splitter.

I think Keane would be a good signing for us. Something different, able to drop off to link midfield and attack (at least better than either Heskey or Carew who are simply not that type of player.

Carew scored 17 goals in 42 appearances last year, though.

We need all the goals we can get.

carew on his day is a good player no doubt , but he does seem a little disinterested at times and plays with that appraoch , and then other times when hes up 4 it he plays like a totally different player.

maybe hes a player who needs a kick up the arse now an again to get him going.
