It's a shame that, if reports are to be believed, Milner and Ireland will possibly pass each other on the M6. If and when Delph reaches full fitness and maturity, I reckon that him, Ireland and Milner would be the best midfield in the Premier League.

What do people think on the link with Fabio Auerlio?

On the plus, he's a good player who can cover at LB and left midfield.

On the negative, he's very injury prone and and a high wage earner in his 30s who might spend half the season injured is exactly what Randy is trying to move away from isn't it?

Well I suppose he's competition, but we need better than Petrov and NRC. They're players for the 6th-10th placed Aston Villa and we need an upgrade.

Good to see a decent link today with Huntelaar, if the quotes from him citing the want to play in the Prem and play regularly then Villa would be perfect for him. Hopefully he'd have taken one look at Pavyluchenko at Spurs and realised he'd be in the same boat as he is now if he joined them!

He's not so much injury prone as fashioned of crystal.

I don't really see a (soon to be) 31 year old injury prone full back being one of our major requirements, but hey ho.

Do people think we might go for Ireland and Keane? I wonder if it's one or the other, to play in a pretty similar position, with two midfielders behind them?

I agree that Ireland and Petrov looks lightweight.

I want both keane and Ireland, keane to play with gabby and Ireland replacing milner , that would still leave us needing another midfielder and right back , aurelio on a free would be an ok signing too, huntelaar would be a fantastic signing but I can't see it happening to be honest.

Bentley if mon could get the best out of him would also be a decent deal- we need a decision one way or the other on milner as soon as possible so we know what signings we will need to make and what money we have to spend.

I agree Percy. Energy, skill and goals in abundance. All three could join in with the attack when needed.

Lets not get too excited about the prospect of Huntelaar coming.
Its so far removed from our transfer policy, and why would he choose to come to Villa anyway?

Don't think we should sign Bentley now his ankles gone. No point signing a player who's gonna miss half a season. I think with how City and Spurs will invest, we need to hit the ground running with quality. Can't do another Downing again.

What sort of striker is Huntelaar? What striker would you compare him to and therefore what would he bring to the villa team?

When he played against villa for ajax he was pretty useless I thought.
