A bit like Theo Walcott, a promising striker who's become a bobbins winger.

I'm nonplussed as to whether we should sign him.

If we sign Babel, I suggest we move both our goalposts 3 feet to the left.  Do that and we have a 25 goal per season striker.

Tip of the cap to you sir.

Forlan please. Just sign him. I know he's 32, but seriously, he's quality, and the sort of player who could be a talisman for us. Perhaps a revisit to what Nilis could have been. What a fucking goal though by Forlan. His movements great, he's got great technique, and he's a goal threat. If we want a stellar signing, we could just about get him I feel, and not much better.
There's a good 2 seasons in him. He's got a great engine on him. He could be a difference between 6th, and 4th for us. We aint gonna be signing any 25 yr olds that good that's for sure. Buy some youngens, and a couple of classy older heads like Diego.
Come on Martin.

I've been a fan of his for a while.

He oozes class.

I bet MON doesn't know who he is.

I've said in the past we should not be signing players who are 29/30 or older unless they are utterly top class.

Forlan would be amongst the exceptions.

I don't think we'd find and be able to get, under 30, a player who can dictate a game like Forlan can. Unless we have a top scout who unearths a hidden gem.
I think Diego would welcome a Prem return, and there'd be plenty of takers. I could see Liverpool going for him, Spurs, and we should too. Don't think Arsene would, or Chelski or Utd. Man City will think them above that with all their spunk money.

But we should get in there. Pure class. The sort who could make us tick at Home especially.

Even if we were ever interested in Forlan, after this world cup it'll just never happen.

Yes, sadly, just thinking that.

Worth a punt that Fergie might want him back? Berbatov, Owen or Forlan?

Hmmm, tough choice.

Okay maybe not, but there'll be plenty of takers. I do fancy him to come to England though.

wouldn't touch Forlan with a pole full of barges. He's a very good player when he has room and the time to do what he does best. That isn't suited to Prem football and neither is he. File under Milosevic, S.

Dunno about that, 2 things went against him in his time at man utd...

1.  He signed as a very young player with no european experience.

2.  He never got a good long run to find himself.

South americans who haven't played in europe do seem to take a good 6months to settle, even when played regularly (angel for us, tevez at west ham, rodallega at wigan, to name a few who started slowly).  Unfortunately for him he never got the luxury of being important enough to them to play regardless, so he never really settled.  He did still have the odd great game though.

I'd say he's a lot more grown up and a lot more suited to the league now.  I think he'd be a fantastic signing.

Think I'd have to concur.

Decent player, and one I enjoy watching when he plays for Atletico or Uruguay.

But I'd have doubts whether his game is suited to England. He's tried once and whilst that doesn't automatically mean he'd fail again, I'd wonder if he's improved enough in the areas that he'd need in England. Has he become stronger or quicker, for example during the time he has been away? Doubt it. And he's not going to at that age.

A better team than us could probably afford to take a punt, A Man Citeh or Tottenham for example. They'd probably be better set up to accommodate his game too.

We should be looking for the next Forlan (or better). Either in S.America or  closer to home.
