Doyle is not class and no we shouldn't sign him.

I'd take Keane for £7.5m over Doyle for £15m!

Doyle would have been a good signing two years ago when we were in transition, but to take us on to the next level? No.

Never said that we should sign Doyle. I am just saying he is a great football player

I would take Keane without 2nd thought for £8M.
And my second favourite is Rodallega

From The Mirror:

Villa eye Dutch star to ease right back worries
Published 23:00 30/05/10 By MirrorFootball

Martin O’Neill believes Gregory van der Wiel could solve his problem right-back slot. Aston Villa boss O’Neill is primed to move for the Holland star, who will in Bert van Marwijk’s World Cup squad. O’Neill is keen to find a swift solution, with both Luke Young and Habib Beye set to quit Villa Park this summer. Beye, signed from Newcastle in the January transfer window, has been told he can leave after failing to make his mark. And Young is eager to quit the club and move on to West Ham because he is fed up with his lack of opportunities. Villa hope to raise £3.5million from the sale of Young and will use that to launch a £4m offer for 22-year-old Van der Wiel. Van der Wiel has just won Dutch Young Player of the Year after graduating from the Ajax youth ranks. He has been outstanding since breaking into Martin Jol’s Amsterdam side and can also play as a central defender. But O’Neill will face competition for Van der Wiel after Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong recommended his Holland team-mate to Eastlands chief Roberto Mancini.

The daily sports rag here A Bola is linking us with 28 year old Brazilian (with Portugues passport) left back, Evaldo of runners up, Sporting Braga.

He's a bloody good full back that loves to attack. Can even play on the wing. Porto and Sporting will also be sniffing around. He should be in the national squad but with the fear of being dubbed Brazil B Team, he'll probably miss out.

There's also a mention that we're interested in Benfica's centre forward Cardozo but best ignore it. Benfica have a release clause in his contract for €60m.

No offence but that's a woman's way of looking at life.
Buy something you don't need for half the price.
Whereas a man will pay twice as much for something he DOES need.

I spot a theme here. Although its a variation on a central defender who can't play right back.

To be fair Keane and Doyle work well as a two. More so than Gabby and Carew, but then again, the whole partnership thing has always been something of a rarity. Many strike forces have got by with two players doing their own thing. I'd say we'd get more goals from Gabby and Carew, than Keane and Doyle. But I'd also say a partnership of Keane and Carew, or Keane and Gabby could get us 30 prem goals easily.

I've pretty much just said, Doyle won't score enough. How mean of me, but true.

Still, Heskey or Doyle? If that's the question, I know my answer.

If I was a woman I might be more offended. I based my post on years of following the Irish team and I just know that Robbie Keane, at the right price, offers us more than Kevin Doyle at any price. I have been saying this for a while. Doyle would have been a great signing two seasons ago but I don't think he offers us enough for where we are right now. He's workmanlike so he'd fit in with the current villa set up but what we need is something different and Keane will bring that to the club.

I think Doyle would be a good signing but he is just too similar in style to what we've already got. We need a goal machine who can mix up play a bit. Keane can be explosive on his day.

I like Doyle, I think he's a good player and so does Arsene Wenger. He will play at a higher level than the one he is at now.

If I were him I'd only sign on the basis that it's as a Centre Back. In which case he'd have an excellent chance of becoming our right back.  Irrelevant anyway as he's surely too young and too foreign to be an  O'Neill defensive target.

He'd probably do what Heskey should actually be doing for us, and that's a lot of donkey work, and link up play. But Doyle would score more than Emile quite easily.

If we could get Keane and Doyle, I'd be happy. Then loan Fonz out to another Prem side and see how he does with more games.

If can only sign one, I'd go for Keane though.
