If I remember correctly, in Aug 2005 Maz was itching for Yakubu to come and Ozzjim was fairly sure it was going to happen.

I can't remember 12 months ago, let alone 5!!

I only remember cos I've a pm from you saying that you were fairly sure it was happening (Kevin Phillips probably mentioned it when talking to you in Asda) and that Mazrim would likely spontaneously explode/ejaculate once we had the Yak primed to be our 20 goal a season man.

Boaz Myhill............ why can't we find players like this in our youth academy?

Mind you, if we did we would probably let him go on a free at the age of 19 even though he looked a quality keeper only to contemplate buying him back 7 years for millions.

Oh hang on a second.....

Today's Meaning Evil has the following:

Villa losing out to Everton in the "race" to sign Beckford

*stares*

MON ready to use Milner money for 10m plus raid for Keane. Dunne has already tapped *cough* erm, spoken to Keane about it

*sobs*

and finally

Redknapp to launch 7m Davies raid

*thumbs up*

Personally if we HAVE to have Keane, then it's only fair Spurs should suffer too.

Though I advocated Keane as a signing in the section of the thread that vanished into thin air yesterday I think 10m is a bit generous. If Spurs are looking to offer 7 for Davies, I'd be comfortable with a straight swap but wouldn't want to pay any more than that really.

Not fussed if we lose out in the race for Beckford.

Also, a while ago, I suggested Joao Moutinho as a potential in midfield if we were to lose Jimmy.

Suggestion was met with silence so I'm gonna try again. Any thoughts?

I think getting £7m for Davies is decent money, so I'd be happy to pay £2-3m on top of that for Keane.

Was certainly mentoned last summer as a possible. From memory he's not on massive wages either.

He's an excellent player but as he plays abroad I'd be very surprised if we sign him.

I agree with John M's post on our needs and priorities. I'd also like us to resign Boaz Myhill as a keeper. I don't think he'll break the bank and he's probably a younger, better and cheaper keeper than Foster.

Would love to see Moutinho turn out for us, still wouldn't mind Veloso either! Double bid?

Not Keane, please not Keane. He was good, but he is past it. I know he's 29, but nevertheless he is well past his peak.

Mon only seems to buy two types of player:

those that have at some stage of their career played for Newcastle; or those with a good, honest, unshortened Christian name.

With Robbie Keane we could be in uncharted waters.

Far to early to write him off based on a few months with a manager who he didn't get on with.

Not sure, he didn't do great under Benitez or Redknapp. If we sign him I hope he proves me wrong, but I think we should be looking elsewhere.
