. Is that bird who handles the new players' arrangments on 24 hour alert by the phone again? I really need to know.

Because of Cut-backs she only does that job during the day. In the evening she goes 'web-camming' with Ash!

Always felt sorry for her, camped out in her sleeping bag under the desk, surrounded by Italian/Spanish/French translation books she's never had to  use.

Higher priorities, sure. But the Friedel situation has to be addressed at some point and if there's a good 'keeper available this summer we should make a move. Green might not be available in a year. Myhill's just been relegated with cash-strapped Hull.

I'd take Myhill.

We need to know what's happening with Jimmy first.  We'll then know what money we have, and by that I mean Martin and Randy will know, and what players we need.  If he goes, in order of priority for me it's:-

1. Striker & Jimmy replacement (equally vital, IMO)
2. Petrov upgrade
3. New RB
4. Wing cover/competition
5. Fullback cover

If we can do all of those and there's enough wonga left for the right and available keeper then great.  But if there's not it's not the end of the world for us!

In an entire lifetime of watching Villa I can't recall ever being envious of anything the b lose have done. Sfx don't worry, the weight of history will tell.

The time to get worried/angry/frustrated is when our rivals like Spurs, everton and to a far lesser degree citeh are spending and we aren't.

what it shows is that foreign  players are willing to come to  Birmingham (not the club the city ) however we have a Muppet of a manager who does not like flair or technically good players. that's what pisses me off and that's why we will never get into the top four .

You lot might be happy with the our style of play but i am not , MON has turned our club into a hostel for English / British  players and it sickens me.

Sickens you? Why are so may people so over the top these days?

I know what you mean about the Noses persuading foreign players to come to Brum, if only we could get a Bulgarian, or a Spaniard, or an American or perhaps even a Norwegian to sign for us.

Lets be honest here , all the foreign players he has signed apart from carew and guzan  have either played in Scotland or the premiership before.  He rarely buys foreign players who have no experience of British football. And we can guess what type of players he will go for , players who are committed and lack technical ability and creative ability.
He has turned gabby into a target man ffs....

For the complaints you could throw at the likes of Milner, Young, Downing and Petrov - lacking technical ability ain't one of them.

I can see why he picks players with premiership experience.  Not many players that come into the premier league make an impact, the speed and power required to compete is above and beyond la liga, serie a et al.  sorry thats the way it is.  They may be more skilful in these leagues, but its a step up in fitness.  They need much more time, and are a bigger gamble (as they may never really click)  See Aquilani, heralded as a great player in Roma, now possibly on the way out.  We do not have millions to throw away on players, and ffs, on these pages alone we read about fans decrying the likes of Milner, Dunne, Collins, et al after thay have played a mere handful of games, so they need to make an impact, and fast.  I think he is right in his logic.  Its what I would do.

christ, now i have read that Petrov, Downing and Milner are not technically good.  Whatever we complain about Downing and Petrov, i dont think its technique.  And I was told at scholl that while i had the pace and heart for fottball, i was not technically good enough.  does that mean I am also worth 20million?  And where is my England call up

That must have been difficult. I had heard you were the life and 'sole' of the party.

I think we can all see the logic in that, but it is going to be VERY difficult for us to get to the next level without bringing more players in from abroad.  Certain ones will fail when coming to England, but others do flourish.

if we signed Ireland, Parker and Yossi, do you think we could move up a step?

Not overly, if I'm honest!

Ireland would replace Milner and give us what we get from him going forward, if not the workrate and defensive contribution.  I don;t see Parker as improving on Petrov to any great extent and Benayoun would give us extra options wide with Ash and Downing.

I'm not saying we can't improve by buying from Britain only, just that being able to also bring in top players from abroad would be of a great help to us.

For instance, with the new striker we all want, domestically I can see Bent that would be good, but extremely difficult to get, or Keane who would do, but think we should be after younger.  Everyone else in the PL is either totally unattainable or not good enough, IMO.  Yet overseas I can think of Falcao, Huntelaar or Love that would/could be excellent and are gettable.

my priorities:

1)if milner leaves, we need an experienced midfielder than can run up and down the pitch like milner.

2)a profilic striker able to score 20 goals

3)right back(if luke is sold). someone who defends well, but is also comfortable with the ball

4)full back coverage

5)an attacking midfielder

6)maybe a better defensive midfielder, if we get enough money with reo coker leaving

Totally agree, those positions and in that order. Could potentially swap 4 and 5 over, but that would simply be nit-picking.

And yes on Myhill. Let he and Guzan fight it out to eventually succeed Brad Snr.
