Parker would improve our midfield. We could play a 3 man, have Parker holding, and Milner and Petrov further forward. Get Delph in there when he's ready. Parker would add the legs and energy lacking in Stan, and he can pass the ball. Those 3 in mid, and we'd keep the ball far better.

I wouldn't say Scott Parker would be the top class midfield signing we crave, but he'd be one of the better options for the level we're going to be shopping in.

Personally, I'd be playing him over Barry and Carrick for England. Of all the potential holding role players he's been by far the best this season.

Oh well, he's crap anyway!

He'd have been good for us I think, but to be fair, as long as we keep Big John, we're sorted for the bruiser. Our cash would be better spent on a poacher like Forlan.

Express & Star.

Stoke are set to test the uncertainty regarding England striker Emile Heskey’s future at Villa with a £2million bid.

Hand. Snatch. Off.

Heskey will make Fuller look like Messi .-)

It's just a quote from The Sun.

Quote
Birmingham are set to make a £6m move for Valencia's 6ft 7in striker Nikola Zigic.

Parker would be the midfield equivalent of Robbie Keane for me:-

"Decent enough and would improve us, but we need to set our sights higher, partly due to age."

I could understand Parker as a more convincing alternative to Petrov in the defensive midfielder stakes. Definitely as part of midfield three with Milner and say, Ireland. I said as much a few weeks back. It would work a treat.

But only for a couple of seasons. An upgrade on Petrov needs to be significantly young IMO.

yup. he's barely a year younger. we'd be having the same conversation in 12 months time after the manager has run him into the ground.

you mean like he did at Wet Spam, yet finished with an England call up?  Sounds like he has MON friendly attributes.  Plus he can tackle

think they'd be a slight upgrade in ground covered/miles run between west ham's midfield and the amount of work MON expects from his.

I disagree.  Parker WAS the midfield, no one else did much work there, see league finishing position.  And he was a box to box player thanks to a pretty poor defence and he got some goals too.  He has a nasty streak too, which is not a bad thing for us, we have no really niggly players that opposition hates

Would we look better or worse with a team (realistically) looking like

Friedel

Johnson
Collins
Dunne
Warnock

Downing
Parker
Ireland
Young

Gabby
Davies or some such ball winning headerer
