Richard Dunne? James Collins? Ashley Young? John Carew? There's been a few.

Wouldn't say any of those were surprising players for MON to buy.  Maybe Carew due to his origins

Delph/Downing.........not your stereotypical MON signings.

MON, puts as much emphasis on workrate and flexibility, and team ethic, as much as he puts on ability.Kind of reminds you of another manager who has just won the CL.

I think the Milner to Liverpool thing could be right. Man Cty and Chelsea collect players as if they're filling a Panini album: he wouldn't be guaranteed a shirt in either side. If he doesn't want to go to Man Utd because of the rivalry with Leeds then it makes sense to go to Anfield - what better way to prove his anti-Man Utd credentials? Gerrrard's departure would provide the funds and a place in the starting line up. But I'm surprised  Arsenal haven't been mentioned - I think the Emirates would suit him right down to the ground particularly if Fabregas ends up back to Spain.

I don't want him to go.  As Mr Green has noted there is a whiff of Brylcreem about the boy. I said a while back that I think he'll captain the England side eventually and I now think he'll get Tinky Winky's spot in South Africa.

Big fish eat smaller fish and as other people have said - life goes on.

You found Downing surprising??!  And comparing MON to Mourinho isn't going to do the guy any favours.

See were linked with Steven taylor, I can't see the point in selling Davies and signing him really.

Unless he wants to play him at right back

That would be a bit of a pointless signing and it sounds a load of crap anyway. I did'nt see any clubs fighting over him when Newcastle went down last season.

Linked with Zigic today.

Great! More passing sideways and more crossing.

I was thinking just this last night watching the final.

Inter's football is hardly exciting/freeflowing stuff. Their stats last night were something like 32% possession and two shots on target.

They do pretty much what we like to try and do (abeit with a much better quality squad). Soak it up and hit on the break.

Obviously with the money / quality he's had to work with at Chelsea and Inter it helps. But if some people think we play bad football under O'Neill (which I don't) imagine what they'd be saying if we still played the same but had a team full of so called world class players like Inter

You don't like crossing ?

To me one of the best things to watch is a proper winger whipping in a cross

Sadly unless you have a striker thats going to move to get on the end of them its a bit pointless I guess. Maybe Zigic is the man

Spot on. Carew is never in the box enough for the crosses coming in, and Gabby has some of the worst movement in the league, rarely getting across his man. When he does move, he gets chances, so I would blame the poor cross completion more on the forwards than the wingers. We just don't attack the ball in the right areas in the box.

Wenger would never spend that much, particularly on an English player.

What I think Paul is saying here (no doubt he will correct me if I'm wrong) is that we could do with another dimension to our game. Crossing is all well and good (and perhaps Zigic would be able to make more of them than Gabby and Carew) but we need alternatives so we can break teams down too, particularly at VP where we come unstuck if a team packs the box to deal with the crosses.

We already have pace and strength up front with Gabby, Carew and Heskey.
I would like to see us with a more technical gifted striker, like Keane or Rodallega.
If we get another powerful and strong like forward, at least get an upgrade of what we already have.. Zigic is not an upgrade. Kevin Doyle is an upgrade. Maybe Zamora or C Cole are too.

But Zigic is surley not.
