Contracts usually end on July 1st. That would be my guess.

Harry will not sell Pavlyuchenko now. He'll play him and take the credit for making him a class player, when only 6 months ago he was trying to sell him. Like he's done with Bale.

IMO City will offload Ireland, Adebayor and Bellamy. No chance of them letting Johnson go JAUN PABLO.

I know mate.Just taking the micheal Jackson... Just gutted we got SD and not AJ. hes progressed more this season than AY

I wish people would realise Parker from Wham aint going nowhere neither..

Why?

Yes, why will deep in debt, run by glorified barra boys West Ham not be interested in selling one of their only saleable assets?

Not sure if mentioned on this thread before but once again last night Forlan looked a quality player and when interviewed afterwards said he wouldn't rule out a move back to prem. The only top team other than us who may be interested is the bin dippers surely we can out bid them this summer!!

Yeah I paid particular attention to Forlans game last night. He has his critics from his previous stint in the PL and is turning 31 this month, but his movement and football intelligence is very much what we are missing. Not only does he now have a great scoring record but put 4 goals past Fulham and Liverpool.

Obviously his age and fitness could be questioned, but one of the things the commentators picked up on last night was the fact that all the players looked dead on their feet with the exception of Forlan who was busting a gut all game and still had plenty to burn.

How much would Atletico want for him though could be the stumbling block...but his age could actually be used in negotiations.

edit:
Forlan turns 31 not 32.

If not, when does the window officially open?

The transfer window is being shipped out to South Africa. It will be ceremoniously opened during half-time of the opening match between the hosts and Mexico by Honorary Life Deputy President of the ANC Harry Belafonte.

Forlan please. Athletico continue to underachieve in the league given the players they have and such a quality strikeforce.

I'd hope we could possibly tempt him back to the Prem, if he wanted to come back to prove a point.

For all the Aguero talk of the last year, and the figures suggested for him of around 30 mill, whenever I see Athletico play, which granted, has only been a few times this season and mostly in the Europa, Forlan stood out more.

Maybe they'll cash in now he's 30 though?

But if we could, he'd be as good as we could get IMO. Class player. Great movement, excellent finisher, good with the ball at his feet. Good acceleration. He's also a clever player who drops deep and makes thing happen.

No to Forlan. At 32, we'll get what - maybe 2 years out of him and he'll cost £10m+ and who knows how much in wages.

I wish we could unearth little known players who we can turn into the finished article.

Forlan is better suited to La Liga although maybe he feels he has a point to prove in the prem?

Well Forlans fitness is clearly not an issue at the moment. Considering his age a max £10m would be a fair price. I think the time has come to buy a proven goalscorer rather than experiment with youth...Forlan wouldnt be a bad signing (at the right price) but £15m for Falcao would obviously be better business in the long term.

Forlan is the same age as Drogba, Henrik Larsson was still a good player well into his 30's, A top striker gets into goal scoring positions and scores more than he misses.

I would take Forlan any day above some of the strikers mentioned on here. over the last 12 months.

Actually my bad...Forlan turns 31 this month not 32! As Moorski says, Drogba is older than Forlan having turned 32 in March so age isnt really an issue if the player is fit, injury free and looks after himself. Didnt they say Beckham could carry on playing at the highest level until he was 38 due to his fitness and condition?

Forlan is instinctively good ... which immediately puts him ahead of all our current strikers.
Adebayor - waster.

Forlan looks in great nick. Plus he's got a brain on him. He could be of use even when his legs go. He's not totally reliant on pace, or strength. His engine is still in good order too, he lasted the distance better than anyone.

You could easily get a decent 2 years from him, and even more beyond that as a bench player, maybe akin to Bergkamps last couple of years when he became a cameo artist.

If Adebayor isnt an instinctive finisher, what else is he? Also, he is proven in this league.
I dont know what it is he wastes but it isnt chances.
