But imagine Walcott and Young either side of Gabby as an option. With maybe Ireland, Milner and Parker behind them?

That would be an exciting side!

----------------------Friedel

-------------Cuellar------------Dunne
Richards---------------------------------Warnock

----------------------Parker

--------------Milner----------Ireland

Walcott------------------------------------Young

--------------------Agbonlahor

Guzan, Collins, Clark, Petrov, Downing, Carew, Delfouneso

O.K, there isnt a new out and out striker perhaps but still a lot of potential for goals in that side I think.

With Agbonlahor improving all the time and forward-thinking midfielders of the sort you have there, the lack of specialist finisher wouldn't be much of an issue, especially with six-yard-box naturals like Carew and the Fonz on the bench.

As was mentioned on here, I went off the idea of Rodagella when I saw him outpaced by Sol Campbell.

We'd also have the options of 4-4-2 within that squad and could easily rotate with Petrov and/or Downing playing some games in the midfield 5.

We'd also have a good variety of wide-forward options in the 4-3-3. We could have, as that team up there is, the left-winger cutting in and the right-winger staying wide, or we could mix it up with Downing on the left as the out-and-out byline winger (although I don't think it's his natural game), or indeed the cutting-in winger from the right. The Fonz and Gabby can also play as wing forwards, so there is real flexibility in that idea.

Thats a good team tbh Mazrim, and i definately like that system, with Gabby on his own up front.

Still think long term, Milner might play the Parker role in your team, and getting a better attacking midfielder, but yet, if we line up like that next year, i would be quite happy.

Just a note about Steve Davis, he is a far better player than some of you seem to remember. How many goals did he score in his last season here, and who was highest goalscoring midfielder this year?

Never quite work out how we value players......why would Ireland cost more than £6m?

Not to forget that Delph could compete with Ireland for that spot once he's fit again.

Steven Davis scored 5 goals in 91 appearances for Villa.
Milner has scored 12 last season alone.

Davis is exactly as good as I remember him. He's a squad player for a lower mid table club at best.

Ireland would probably cost more than £6m because he's a very good player. But you never know. He's had his problems off the pitch and its not like Man City need the money.

Absolutely. I rate him very highly.
I'd also be looking at Kim Kallstrom as he's a free in the summer and a player I've long admired.

Benayoun would be a great signing at the right price.

I'd love to see him in a villa shirt.

If Man City wern't stupidly rich then Ireland would cost £10m+ but I can't see anyone offering them more than £8m as they simply don't need the money and the whole world knows it.

That can't be right.  I remember him getting 8 or 9 one season.

He didn't score at all in his last season for us.

You're right, I looked at the league only.

He scored 8 in 42 appearances in 05/06 which was decent.
And none at all the season after in 31 appearances. Which isnt.
9 goals in 102 appearances overall.
Just a very average player at best who promised more.
