I've been thinking Carrick and Milner could be a good central partnership

I'd have Carrick, but if he's available then I can see Droopy signing him back for Spurs. They love having loads of Centre Midfielders.

No to Carrick. We can do without him fannying about in the midfield just passing to the nearest player whether he's being pressured or not.

If fans are calling Downing gutless, this guy is lord high cowardly Lion.

We have three central midfielders better than Carrick already.

Sunderland have signed Christian Riveros. I mentioned him about 50 pages ago as someone who would offer a bit of creativity for a small fee. It's a bit of a gamble but Bruce (or his scouts) have had a lot of success in recruiting players from Central and South America in the past.

Outside the British Isles... a definite no, no!

Who?

Milner, Petrov and Reo-Coker comfortably.

I'd also play Delph and possibly even Sidwell before I played Carrick. He's the master of absolutely nothing.

I expect Delph will fit in between Carrick and Petrov, but until he gets more games under his belt:

Milner
Carrick
Petrov
NRC
Sidwell

Reo-Coker and Sidwell are better than Carrick? And I thought I had heard everything there is to hear on H and V. That is truly one remarkable assertion...

It is reported that a host of Premier League clubs are chasing Wigan Athletic marksman Hugo Rodallega.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Aston Villa are looking like the early pace-setters in the contest, with Villa scouts monitoring Rodallega's form since the turn of the year.

Although a cash bid seems most likely, a deal seeing Emile Heskey moving the other way might also be a possibility.

It is also believed that Liverpool and Arsenal are waiting in the wings should Wigan resolve waver.

From Sport.co.uk

Italian publication Corrierre dello Sport has reported that Aston Villa have joined the hunt for prised Borussia Mönchengladbach youngster Marco Reus.

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is keen to add some creative flair to a midfield unit which relies too much on the dynamism of James Milner and the composure of Stiliyan Petrov, with 20 year-old Reus – who has scored 5 goals in his debut Bundesliga season – fitting the bill as a skilful young midfielder with strong acceleration and long-range shooting.

Reus is also said to be a target of Barcelona, so Aston Villa may have to make some assurances of regular first team football if they are to bring their man to Villa Park.

Borussia paid  German second division side Rot-Weiss Ahlen 900,000 Euros for his services in the summer of 2009, with Reus going on to establish himself in the first team almost immediately. Have a look at the YouTube video below to see clips of Reus in action…

Corrierre tends to be pretty sober in its reporting, especially international, so who knows on the Marco Reus front, it may have a point. I think what it says about MON wanting a bit of flair and creativity is a bit obvious, though.

Rodallega's particularly good because he could also play as a wing forward on either side, so that would be an improvement for the squad.

After initial interest, didnt most of us write him off after he got outpaced by Sol Campbell the other week?

Not me. No shame in getting outpaced by Campbell, he's recorded the second highest sprint time this season apparently. Plus we've got to get more into our game than pace.
