It was a genuine question Monty and not even a sniff of a snipe.
No offence intended.

Fair enough mate, sometimes hard to tell on the internet, tone of voice doesn't exactly get across!

As for Berbatov, where he plays and what he does is like Heskey x 1000 - when he's playing well. I won't pretend to know why he's gone so inconsistent at United, but if it's something we can't sort out then I wouldn't want him here.

ASTON VILLA PURSUING IRISH QUARTET
Midlanders monitoring transfer market
O'NEILL: Needs to strengthen
By Garry Doyle, 24/04/2010

MARTIN O'NEILL wants to pack FOUR Irishmen into his luxury Villa this summer - with Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle, Aidan McGeady and Stephen Ireland ALL on his hit-list.

But the Aston Villa boss faces competition from Birmingham for McGeady and Manchester United and Everton for Ireland.

And Mick McCarthy's Wolves side are preparing to break their strict wage-budget to try and bring Keane back to his first club.

However, Keane's next destination is almost certainly going to be Villa, who made a belated move for the Irish skipper in the January transfer window but Keane had already committed his short-term future to Tottenham.

And despite Harry Redknapp's claims that Keane still has a future at White Hart Lane, the reality is Spurs will offload him if they receive a bid in excess of £10million.

O'Neill also has his sights on Doyle, McGeady and Ireland - but his pursuit of that trio comes with terms and conditions attached.

He will only move for Ireland if James Milner is tempted by a move to one of the big five - although a possible swap deal with Manchester City is on the cards.

Secondly, getting Doyle out of Wolves will be a tall order as the ex-Reading striker has built up a close relationship with McCarthy.

McGeady, however, is on his radar but again O'Neill is treading carefully on this subject because of his close friendship with Celtic owner, Dermot Desmond.

Fear not, Greg, I think the last line gives the game away somewhat.

In fairness, though they might not be the right players for us they're all good in some way.

I'd take Ireland and Keane. Don't know we'd invest 7-10million on McGeady, we're OK outwide and if we signed Ireland we'd have more cover as Milner would be less missed in the middle incase of an injury.

Don't want Doyle.

Keane I just wonder whether or not he has an issue with stepping up to the top level mentally. His quality isn't in doubt, in my view, but he does cower a bit at the top level of the game.

I agree, I wouldn't want Ireland at Milner's expense, but I think they could do really well in the same midfield three. Depends which Ireland, though - the one who spent the summer of '08 training to make himself better or the one who lied his way out of international duty. I'm not in a position to say what he's like now, but I certainly wouldn't want the latter.

Doyle is a hard working forward with good movement and decent finishing. I think he could do it as a squad player, but I'm not 100% convinced. I have to agree with your assessment of McGeady though: why would we want him? Ok, he's a decent and skilful winger - hardly a position we're lacking, and certainly one I'd hope to do better on than McGeady if we have to replace Ash.

However, I think that the old "from NOTW" gives this all away as utter gob-bollocks of the worst kind.

Watched the Arse-City game and there were some very well paid City players that hardly had a kick. Those players mentioned are all what i see as MON type players that's why i worry.

c***s

Surely he means 6: ManUre, Chelski, Arse, Citeh, Spuds and the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'.

Assume he's excluding Spuds, but from this season's league and cup performances, it should be 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'.

It's still super gay tho.

keep milner and get those 4 ion and we finish top 4 in my opinion!
k,eane and doyle are both quaolity strikers given the right service, they will add to our options up front greatly and ireland is quality ,not sure abouit mcgeady but i wouldnt object to him coming.

always rated keane and ireland and would love to see them here, doyle gave our defence the run around and far better than heskey.

Thats not a bad short to be fair, only Megeady is one I wouldn't buy out right.  I have always rated Doyle, he's not the missing piece of the puzzle, but is a decent squad player and if we signed someone like Keane as a main striker, then Doyle would make quite good sense.  I rate Ireland also, but think someone with a bit more flaw like Arteta is what we need.  But bareing in mind we are now likely to be restricted money wise in the Summer we should be able to get Keane, Doyle and Ireland in for a good price and forget about the other guy :-k

Don't want to see any of them at Villa.

Keane's past it, and never really was good enough anyway.

Doyle's a maybe, but really only as a squaddie, not really what we need to make a difference.

Mcgeady is highly over-rated and won't cut it in the PL

Ireland is a mental case and a dickhead to boot.

Also we don't need 4 players this summer, we need one or two of absolute top class or at least the potential to be top class in the near future. None of the above fit either bracket.

My only question with Keane maybe would be his comitment, and if he wouldn't just up sticks for one last big move in a couple of years time.  But I think he has proven time and again that he is a top class striker, if he gets a season long run in the team, he will get twenty goals in my view.  Because of the reasons mentioned possibly Darren Bent would be a better buy.

Totally agree that we only really need two outstanding players to add that little bit more quailty, and then some solid squad players to make up the difference.
