I'd be chuffed to bits with Rodellga.

Wouldn't be against Doyle as a squad player if we were to move both Heskey and Carew on this summer.

But we need a forward with a better goal ratio too.

Doyle + 1 other might be OK.

Doyle and the current crop wouldn't be enough to push us on.

Rodellga definitely has something about him but is he really the proven natural goalscorer we need?

A couple of names that I've seen mentioned lately that would add quality to the team and squad...

Joe Cole (doubt he'd leave London and the reported £100k/week wages would be too high)
Owen Hargreaves (still recovering and too injury prone?)

...not convinced of any strikers mentioned so far.

Cole will be at Chelsea or Man Utd. Hargreaves will be melted down for glue.

Remember his debut against Saints though.

Admittedly it was all down hill from there. Rapidly.

Don't agree with Doyle, why buy someone and put onto the bench, we need to buy players who are better and then Gabby will move down onto the bench which sounds better.
C.Cole i would go for, it seems he is believing in his talent again and could easily replace Heskey or Carew.

No way carlton Cole. Not anywhere close to what we need. Would actually rate Doyle higher than him. Think a Klasnic - Bendtner type player would be good for Villa ....

But Cole big powerful striker would be a improvement on Heskey or Carew ( Depends which Carew turns up)
Doyle wouldn't be a improvement on Gabby, Heskey or Carew ( Even the Fonz i rate better).

Today's gossip (well this is basically the Summer Transfer Thread isn't it!!)

Celtic's hopes of hanging on to on-loan striker Robbie Keane may be over with Aston Villa targeting a £9m summer move for the Tottenham player.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Alternatively, Villa could make a move for Wigan's £15m-rated Hugo Rodallega.

Suppose we'd better get used to the transfer rumour merry go round again this summer...

Always thought Keane would play for Villa at some point. Would be good addition to squad for a couple of seasons with Bent or Cole plus midfielder. I'd be happy with that if we don't qualify for CL.

No to Rodallega

I would absolutely love to see Keane and Cole as our strike force next year. Seems realistic too.

Doubt it.  One's too old for that kind of money & the other's too goal-shy for that kinda...er...money.

Rodallega is not exactly prolific for that sort of fee. Keane is too old now and is on the way out imo. I like Cole and could see him working well with gabby, but i'd stll prefer an out and out goalscorer
