According to reports, Ashton was on £65k a week and WHU have to pay up the remaining 4 years of his 5 year contract. It's only £13.250m. I'm not sure if they have to pay taxes and NI on top of that.

Forewarned is forearmed. I think at one stage they even had a sponsor for Karren Brady's boots tucked away in the match programme.
