Woodgate, for Newcastle, March/April-ish 2004.

And he was bloody good the other week, too.

Shay Given played bloody good when Newcastle came to Villa Park in DOL's final season - we lost 2-1 but would surely have got a result but for him in goal.

Les Ferdinand played an absolute blinder for QPR in 1992-93 at Villa Park  - he didnt score and they lost 2-0 but he bossed McGrath and Teale at times.

Oh, and I lost count of the number of times that Robbie Savage completely bossed our supposedly superior midfields over the years.

Ruud Gullit was brilliant one time against us, it may have been the Boxing Day game (96/7 I think) when Zola got two.

Cruyff by a long way.

Very few oppositon players get a standing ovation when they are substituted.

I think that season we lost 1-0 to a Dennis Wise goal.

Gullit played.

The whole Arsenal team were superb in DOL's second season. Scored 3 in the first 20 mins. Could have hit double figues.

Yeah I remember that.

John Filan in goal for Blackburn when they beat us 3-1 at Villa Park (think it was in the year they went down). For some reason this display just sticks in my mind.

Henry at Highbury when we lost 5-0. Two amazing goals, though to be fair he was amazing against most teams.

David James has had a few great games against us.

Years ago v Celta Vigo I thought Mostovoi was brilliant.

That would be mine as well.  I always thought Gullit was outstanding as well.

i was there when David White scored loads,
Les Ferdinand always payed well against the Villa , Even the one when won 4-1 never seen a player cause McGrath and Teale Problems, McGrath nearly always won the headers against any striker but that day Ferdinand won nearly all of them.
David James always has blinder against us.
Le tiss has scored some right Beuties at Villa park.

Remember being sat in North Stand upper when we got battered by Arsenal one season, the Gooners spent all match chanting for Charlie Nicholas, while Tony Woodcock slaughtered our back four almost single handed.

Not sure it was the greatest performance I've seen from an opposition player, but has lived in the memory as one of the least rewarded by his own fans.

Was that when they beat us 6-2 and he scored 5 inside the first 50mins?
