I'm a bit surprised that there's enough demand in the UK for baseball to get away with those prices.  The NFL I understand, as lots of people I know like American Football at some level, but I've never met anyone (other than the good folk on here) who have the remotest interest in baseball.

I'm now stuck in the queue for the Stadium's own pre-sale.

I thought that I might have a chance with this until MLB tweeted out the link yesterday.

Over the years I've become more aware of just how many people over here are interested.

I tend to write off people wearing Evil Empire caps as fashion victims, but I see plenty of other team caps being worn in this country.

I know people over here who coach kids' baseball and some who play, eg my friend James is the tall bloke in the middle of this photo of the Manchester A's

I even know people in the UK who have partial season tickets for the NY Mets

Thanks Mr Sox, would not have thought to look there until I read your post.  Now have a ticket for the Saturday section 256.  Will take my cross-channel binoculars.

Harold Baines and Lee Smith elected to the Hall of Fame via the Veterans Committee.

Hopefully the writers will now elect Edgar. Having Baines inducted next summer whilst a far superior player looks on would be wrong

Mariano Rivera becomes the first player to be unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame

Also elected were Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina and the late Roy Halladay

Sounds about right to me.

The anti-DH campaign seems to have been defeated in the main. Although I still see respected writers saying that a DH should never be a Hall of Famer.

I think that voters realise that they'll have to elect Big Papi in his first year of eligibility, so decided to get Baines and Edgar in first

2019 USA trip nearly all booked now.

I wasn't able to go last year because of UKR Sr's health but I was determined that his estate could pay for a trip this season.

I'm having a week travelling around New England with some friends watching Minor League games, finishing up with two Red Sox games at Fenway. Then is back to London for the games at West Ham's Council House

If MLB is premier league what would be the comparison for Minor League?  Championship?

It doesn't really work like that. Minor League teams, whilst having their own competition, are mainly feeders for MLB. There's no promotion/relegation.

There are now four main levels of Minor League. In descending order.... AAA, AA, A and Rookie. Historically there were more levels and many more Minor League teams than there are now.

Each MLB team normally has one AAA affiliate, one AA, two A and one Rookie.

Players on AAA teams are usually the first to be called up to the Majors if the need arises.

I find it fascinating to watch Minor League games and try to spot which players have potential to make it at the highest level.

For example, in June 2017 I attended three games at the Portland Sea Dogs (AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox). They had a 20 year old 3rd Baseman called Rafael Devers. It was obvious to even my non-expert eye that he was far too good a player for that level, even though he was one of the youngest players. In July 2017, Devers was promoted to AAA Pawtucket and by the end of the same month he had made his Major League debut.

Last season Devers was the starting 3rd Baseman as the Red Sox won the World Series.

I've now been to 33 Minor League games on top of my 285 MLB

Baseball in Japan could be considered either Championship standard or maybe bottom half of the Premier League
