I'm now in the Minor League part of my trip.

Yesterday we were at the Bradenton Marauders @ Ft Myers Miracle game.

I was interviewed on the Ft Myers radio broadcast during the game.

After the game I was able to chat with Ft Myers pitcher Tom Stuifbergen. He's from Breda in the Netherlands. Very nice guy, however, going by his stats so far, unlikely to make the majors.

UKRS - Cubs win 3-0 against the Red Sox and although Marmol tried his best to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory but nevertheless a great game and atmosphere at Wrigley.

"Two-for-One" beer night at the Tampa Yankees @ Clearwater Threshers game on Thursday.

Some people in my group never left the bar area ! Very few had any idea what was going on in the game.

Met up with some friends that I haven't seen for years.

I really like Minor League baseball. The atmosphere's great, the food and drink is cheap.

We're going to the Florida State League (Single A) All Star Game tonight.

Not sure of your itinerary - but you should try to get to Grayson Stadium, Savannah (home of the Sand Gnats - a Mets affiliate)

Never been myself,(and I only live about 20 miles away  :-[) -  but it is one of the oldest ML parks around - built 1926

In fact only ever been to one MLB game - Cubs @ Braves 2006 - but I love the sport

Me and the wife - we both plastic RedSox fans..... :-[

Welcome SirSteve. Great to have another Sox fan on here.

The three Milnor League parks that I went to on this trip were those of the "Fort Myers Miracle", "Clearwater Threshers" and "Port Charlotte Stone Crabs".

The latter was for the Florida State League All Star Game. The game itself was good but the pre-game activities, including a Home Run Derby, dragged on a bit.

They did a "Shirts of their back" silent auction for charity. A lot of the winning bidders for the shirts were the players' parents. Apparently the players are only given one shirt for the game**, which then gets auctioned off. Therefore, a young player (maybe in their first pro season) doesn't get to keep their All Star jersey unless someone bids on it for them. One players' uncle had to bid $350 in order to secure his nephews' shirt.

I was the winning bidder for the shirt of coach Desi Wilson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desi_Wilson). I did this because he's a big guy (so there's a chance that the jersey will fit me), the shirt would be less sweaty than a player's and I wouldn't be blocking a parent from getting their kids' shirt.

Also, it only cost me $80 for a genuine one-off game used jersey, which is around half of what a replica jersey would have cost if they were selling them (which they weren't)

Now sat in Tampa airport waiting for my flight back to Heathrow (via Toronto)

** the game organised by a team owned by Cal Ripken. Apparently he is notoriously tight with money when it comes to providing gear to players and staff.

Comedic fielding from both the Cubs and Sox, the Cubs are doing their best once again to help the Sox though.

Sox pound the Marlins to move off the bottom of the AL West.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders drop another to the Braves

Same here.

I was at Clemens' first game back at Fenway in 1997 after he'd left for the Blue Jays.

I still have a "Wanted: Fat Bill" poster that was being given out outside the ballpark.

I'm also probably the only Sox  fan who's not all that fussed about Ted Williams.

So do you think Mr Clemens is innocent?

I believe that he's probably guilty.

Andy Pettitte's sudden loss of memory was all very Pentangeli from The Godfather Part II.

The main problem was that McNamee appeared to be so unreliable and sleazy that whether he was telling the truth or not didn't matter.
