Both Wild Card places have come down to the final day

Tampa and Boston are tied at 90-71 in the AL

St Louis and Atlanta are tied at 89-72 in the NL

The final games are:-

BOS @ BAL
TB @ NYY

STL @ HOU
PHI @ ATL

Based on those matchups, I'll predict that Boston and St Louis make it through

Watched an excellent documentary online called Catching Hell.

Its about the Steve Bartman incident in 03.  Really shocking the treatment he received from so called fans.  Hopefully the Cub fans who were so vile and aggressive towards Bartman at the time, effectively ruining his life, feel ashamed of themselves.

As a cubs fan the incident isn't one of my favourites but I do feel bad for Bartman, the players still had opportunities to win the game that night but he is the scapegoat (no pun intended). I will have to keep an eye out for that documentary as it sounds interesting!

As for the Wildcards I can see the both leagues having a one game play off on Thursday but if I were a betting man, it would be Boston and the Cardinals going through!

The doc was shown in the states last night, but is already on Youtube.

You're right, its amazing that despite the Cubs giving up 8 runs in the 8th inning that Bartman took the brunt of the blame.

The Red Sox and Braves both succeeded in completing their dramatic September collapses and missed the playoffs.

The Sox blew the lead in the 9th with Pap on for the save. Meanwhile the Rays came back from 7-0 down against the Highlanders before winning in the 12th.

My Yankee supporting, Tampa living mate will no doubt be firing off some "witty" emails to me today

I do hope the Rays win the ALCS now, the Yankees could have put them to bed last night but Girardi didn't pick Rivera to close them out, in the words of Kevin Keegan, I would love it if they beat them!

Lots of goings on tonight, the Rays wallop the Rangers 9-0 in Arlington after the ceremonial pitch was thrown by the son of the fan who died at the ballpark in July. Francona and the Red Sox go there separate ways and he is already being linked with the manager's jobs in North and South Chicago. And to top it all off it is raining buckets in the bronx, so we have a big rain delay, it will be late one... oh and come on Detroit!

I see that the Tiggers @ Highlanders game was suspended in the 2nd.

However, rather than finishing the game early this afternoon, they're just restarting at 8:30pm and pushing Game 2 back a day. And we think that TV controls sport over here ...........

Sad to see Tito Jr leave the Sox but it was inevitable really after that collapse. I've no idea who will replace him.

As Lefty mentioned above, Tito to the Chi Sox or Cubbies would be likely.

Just think that if both Tito and Theo were to jump to the Cubs and bring them a World Series title. Those two would then deserve a whole wing of the Hall of Fame dedicated to them

Good win for my second team, the Brewers.

If there'd been a Sox v Brewers series, I was planning to go to the games in Milwaukee.

So the Rays squeak into the playoffs but go out at the first hurdle, shame really!

So, we have deciding game fives in three out of four Divisional Series.

Just as we all predicted at the start of the season, the Tigers v Highlanders series comes down to a pitching matchup of.................... Doug Fister v Ivan Nova !?!

Seriously, I know that Nova has been a revelation and that Fister has been excellent since his trade from Seattle, but its hardly Verlander versus Sabathia.

Out of my core group of baseball buddies, just two of us are without a horse in the playoff race (ie the two Red Sox fans). Even my two Tampa season ticket holder friends are imports from elsewhere in the States (like most people in Tampa), one from Detroit and one from NYC.
