How about the one where Pedroia was trying for a double, Robinson Cano (dontcha know) clearly tagged his hand and yet the Umpire called him safe ?

Buck and McCarver also thought it was safe, but I gave up taking any notice of those two years ago

Thank God and the baby Jesus for that, the Cubs dismiss Jim Hendry after 9 years as an awful GM... I hope this means we get a decent guy now!

Let's see if his replacement can get someone to take Soriano and Big Z, off their hands

Watched a bit of the little league world series yesterday.

Quite entertaining.

Can any of the baseball experts here tell me if any of the current MLB stars played in it?

Jason Varitek did. In fact he played in the LLWS, CWS and WS

Sean Burroughs did as well, but his MLB career never lived up to the hype.

There was a good article on this very subject on one of the US sites this week.

I'll go and look for it

BTW, the LLWS has more reason to include the "W" than the WS itself, seeing as teams from all over the globe compete

Cheers UK REDSOX.

I've always found it interesting how strongly the US values its school / college sports.

Could never see something similar over here being given as much coverage.

I don't think that Middle/High School Baseball gets much interest. The LLWS teams aren't school based as far as I know.

High School football however, is a different matter. Its an obsession in places like Texas

The Yankees set a MLB record with 3 Grand Slams in a game

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=18450689

I expected that the previous record would have been more than two. After all, Fernando Tatis once his two Grad Slams in the same inning

Good stats UK Redsox, shame it was the yankees who had to break it.

I'm surprised that more people in the stands don't get hurt. Especially those in the premium seats just outside the protective netting at most ballparks

Apparently Derek Jeter has split up with Minka Kelly.

So, which startlet does he move on to next ?

I'd suggest that he takes a shot at Mila Kunis or Jessica Lucas.

It must be hell being Derek Jeter................ Number Two................ Jeter

Has anyone here ever been to Hoofddorp ?
