I don't mind Joe Buck, its McCarver that I can't stand (he's almost as bad as Joe Morgan). However, would Joe be so high profile if his dad wasn't one of the all time greats ?

Well done Giants on their first World Series since moving to San Francisco. I must say I don't think too many people would of expected this to happen back in August when they were behind in the National League wildcard chase with San Diego cruising in their division.

Oh well, another great season in the MLB... roll on the 2011 season...

The end of "Jon & Joe"

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan's 21-year run on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" is over.

Morgan's contract is expiring and he will not be renewed. Miller's contract is also expiring though he may remain at ESPN working the "Sunday Night Baseball" series and postseason baseball for ESPN Radio.

There was a time when the only baseball available on UK TV was Channel 4's broadcast of the ESPN Sunday Night Game with Jon and Joe in the booth.

Jon Miller remains one of my favourite commentators but I gradually came to realise that Joe talked absolute bollocks and tried to bring every story back to himself.

However, having met Joe a few years back, I will say he is a really interesting guy to talk to.

So far I've not met Jon. The closest I came was in Montreal back in 2000. Jon was recording his pregame intro in the broadcast booth whilst I was being given a guided tour of the press box by the Expos PR guy.
