I'm a Yankees fan simply because we went past Yankee Stadium on a boat ride round Manhattan and it looked cool.

So what's the odds on a Yankees/Dodgers final?

Torre looks like he's done well again.

Looks like the Phillies will take Game 1 v the Rockies.

Twins beat Tigers last night, so they face the Highlanders

Highlanders looked worryingly good in Game 1

I am still scared of the playoffs and the Twins after last night.

Maybe I am negative, but I see the Yankees losing to the Angels in 5, and a Cardinals/Angels world series.

If I had my wish, it would be a Yankee/Dodgers WS, where Arod hits the walkoff homerun and as he runs the bases he stares down Joe Torre.

I like baseball a lot but one thing confuses me, how can they play games like the Phillies yesterday, starting at lunchtime and get a full house.

Can people in the States really get time off work that easy ?

If in football you had a lunchtime KO in the working week we would barely get 20k at VP

Selling out at any time of the day wouldn't be a problem in the playoffs (apart from Atlanta in the late 90's / early 00's when they got so used to playoff baseball people didn't go to the games)

Not everywhere sells out that easy for regular season games. The Red Sox sell out every game and (before they instituted the ultra-expensive seats) the Highlanders sold out a lot as well.

However, if you fancy watching a game in places like DC, Tampa or Miami, you could be the only one there.

Ted Williams' frozen head used for batting practice

Quote
The book says the head in the deep freeze was balanced on an empty can of Bumble Bee brand tuna to keep it from sticking to the bottom of its case.

Once, an Alcor employee tried to remove the head from the can by swinging at it with a monkey wrench. The technician missed the can but smacked Williams' head spraying "tiny pieces of frozen head" around the lab, the book says.

if you had a football game with a Monday 1pm kickoff, every NFL team minus 3 or 4 would have a sellout crowd, even if it was just a random game.

Baseball will do it in the playoffs, but there are baseball games on weekdays at 1pm during the regular season pretty much every other week, and for the Yankees and Redsox, they will sell out.

I myself have taken vacation days to go to Yankee games.

With my old job my boss and I went to every single day game (1 pm start) for two years in a row with, company tickets (right behind home plate).

With the Subway system here it is pretty easy to get in and out.

And I say again, the winners of the World Series probably are justifid in claiming to be the best team in the world.

MLB also probably has 90+% of the worlds best baseball players in it.

Maybe. But I've never heard of an England v Scotland football match or England v Australia cricket match in the 19th century being referred to as a World Cup or Series, etc.
The title might have been accurate but would have been unnecessarily arrogant.
