I believe the new season doesn’t started until October? Are the preseason games worth going to?

I’ve never been to pre season NHL so I don’t know how close to real intensity the players get

For preseason games, I’ve only been able to find three New York Rangers games at Madison Square Garden between 18th-26th September, and two Toronto Maple Leafs games at Scotiabank Arena on 25th and 28th Sept.

I don’t know anything about the teams playing but my friend would like to go to Madison Square Garden in NYC so would one of those be better than the Toronto games?

New York Rangers
vs New Jersey Devils
vs New York Islanders
vs Philadelphia Flyers

Toronto Maple Leafs
vs Montreal Canadiens
vs Detroit Red Wings

If you know nothing about the teams, it doesn’t matter which game you go to.

Talking of MSG, if Billy Joel is playing his monthly gig while you’re in town, I highly recommend going

This year I got introduced to ice hockey through a Swedish client. His team is Lulea and to my surprise, I've quite enjoyed watching the games with him, almost as much as the beer and food he provides. What amazes me is the speed and skill level, what confuses me are the rules. Just when I think I understand something will happen and I'm completely lost. Still, I now know a least three rude Swedish words.

Obviously it's no where near the NHL standard but I do like the idea of it being a national sport where fans support their local, small town teams even if the fans look like they were dressed from the same stores Watford fans shop at. The disco lights before the game is something I hope I never see at Villa Park.

Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup finals for first time in 20 years.

Will play Tampa Bay Lightning or New York Islanders in the finals. Islanders have been perennially shite for last 30 years near enough. Lightning hoping to make up for outstanding regular season in 18/19 that led to first round exit.

20-21 Elite League season cancelled

https://www.eliteleague.co.uk/

Possibility of some games in early 2021, but it’s not known how many teams will be around.

Pro Hockey in the UK has always been on a financial knife edge

Cardiff Devils appoint a new Head Coach

I'm surprised that the team have done this now.

The owners must be confident in the financial stability of the club and the league post-COVID.

Here's random.  I've very little interest in ice hockey (not since watching the Solihull Barons back in the early 90s I suspect) but it turns out a mate of mine owns the Dallas Stars (well, his family does) so my interest is piqued again.  Looks like they're up against it now though.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The Stars aren't just up against it, they've lost.
Lightning are Stanley Cup champs

Haha.  See, last I looked they needed to win the remaining 3 games.  Ah well.

Montreal Canadiens become first Canadia(e)n team in Stanley Cup finals since 2007. Last Canadian winners  were them in 1993.
