Surprised they traded him to a divisional rival. Could come back to haunt them.

Roethlisberger banned for 6 games

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5121614

Quote
"The Personal Conduct Policy makes clear that I may impose discipline 'even where the conduct does not result in conviction of a crime' as, for example, where the conduct 'imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person,' " Goodell wrote in a letter to Roethlisberger. "As the district attorney (in Milledgeville, Ga.) concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that 'undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.' By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard."

Apparently after buying drinks for underage** students; Big Ben then brought "Little Ben" out for a viewing !!

(** remember that in the USA "underage" is a lot older than over here. We're not talking a Frank Ribery situation)

NFL Draft starts tonight

It looks like DT Ndamukong Suh or QB Sam Bradford will be the number 1 pick

Any idea of the players to look out for in the draft? I used to get 'First Down' magazine so I could keep up to date with American Football more easily, but then it folded (no pun intended).

I've put a reminder on my computer, so that I can try to find it online tonight.

I'm a Bears fan btw.

NFL.com draft predictions

From what I've read, there's not going to be many "skill position" players taken in the first round. Therefore, unless you know your linemen, the draft's going to be low on interest this year.

They've switched it to "Primetime" this year.

Anyhow, here's how the first round went............

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NFL_Draft#First_round

No surprises in the top few picks.

Further down, QB Tim Tebow was surprisingly taken by Denver with the 25th pick (whether he actually plays QB as a pro will be interesting to see) and QB Jimmy Clausen wasn't taken in the First Round

QB Jimmy Clausen was finally taken by Carolina with the 48th pick.

That's a good spot for him and he should be the starter pretty quickly.

Meanwhile the QB with an ideal name for football; Texas' "Colt McCoy" fell all the way to the 85th pick and Randy's Browns

I have never watched the actual draft.  I have been to a few draft-day parties, but mostly as an excuse to drink during the day.

I just can't get that into it.  You really never know what you are getting until you see it on the actual field.

Unless you're a Raiders fan like me, then you know that whoever you get in the draft is going to be an absolute disaster.

However, the trade for Jason Campbell looks like a move in the right direction.

It also looks like they'll now cut JaMarcus Russell who probably tops Tim Couch as the worse overall number one draft pick ever

I was amazed when da Bears took a safety with our first pick (in round 3), didn't telegraph that at all....

He's had a ton of run-ins with the law so I'm not surprised. But a 15/16 year old?? Disgusting.
