Watching Get Carter with County Durham-born Mrs Exeter for the first time was an education. I got to know which buildings were still standing, who lived in some of those buildings still standing and that the cuts

between some of the locations in the final section were impossible due to being several miles apart. She even pointed out Jimmy Nail as an extra in the early part of the scene in the club which apparently is always referred to as the 'Oxford' as it was originally the Oxford Ballroom.

Also, "You're a big man, but you're in bad shape" delivered by Caine to Alf Roberts from Coronation Street in that car park in Newcastle.

I remember being star struck by said car park when moving up there as a student.

On a recent Rest Is History they had a long bit comparing Unai Emery to Lope de Aguirre who went nuts in the South American jungle and killed a load of people in the 16th century, and was then turned into a Werner Herzog film.

I imagine the comparison was picked because they're both from Gipuzkoa and leaders who have inspired people to follow them, rather than Emery's fondness for garroting his employees.

Saw a documentary on the filming of the original Get Carter film, there is a pub across the road from the train station which claims to be one of the locations for the film - it is not!!

There is a club in north west england that goes by name of Euxton Villa Football Club.
They added the Villa in 1963.
