It was a though game that we started poorly in.  Liverpool played possession football and we were looking to get the ball forward too quickly wheh we got it back.  That changed about 30 minutes in and we started holding it better.  The rest of the half was then more even, but it was hard to argue with a 1 nil lead to Liverpool at the break.

2nd half was then pretty much all us and we deserved the equaliser.  Unlike Chelsea though, we only had ourselves to blame here as is simply didn't happen for us in front of goal.  And when it did, Mingolet pulled off two very good saves.

Disappointing, but like the previous two games there was enough there to suggest we'll be fine this season.

And one additional point:- I think the '3 games in a week' thing is just an excuse.  These are very fit lads at the start of the season.  Plus I saw no lack of energy from them during the game.

Garth Crooks in his team of the week.

Quote
Daniel Sturridge took his goal brilliantly in the win against Aston Villa and should have been awarded a penalty when goalkeeper Brad Guzan clearly brought him down late in the second half.

I thought Brad got a good hand on the ball diverting it away from Sturridge.

He did.
Crooks is just bigging up his choice who just did one thing of merit in the match.
Did it bloody well mind you!
He's looking sharp this season. (Sturridge, not Crooks!)
