I don't think we were underdogs that day.
Got to be Witheys goal against the baggies in `81, if ever a goal - possibly Rotterdam apart, was crucial it was that one, crap game, Baggies kickin lumps off anything in Claret n Blue, 0-0 written all over it, league championship on its way to Portman road and everyone knew it - until, 4 minutes from time, a Baggies attack breaks down, Rimmer punts it downfield - straight to Baggies defender Brendan Batson, what followed is blasted into the memory, Batson plays ball back to Tony Godden, but hasnt seen Withey doing what good strikers do, chasing it down, he lifts the ball with one touch straight over Godden, and into an empty net, queue absolute mayhem, championship back on again, never ever forget that goal long as il live.
Any of the five against Liverpool in 1976.Disbelief at it all.Liverpool seemed unbeatable in those days.
Though it came to nothing, when Collymore scored against Madrid,it was the loudest I've known it in my time of going to VP.
I'm gonna put forward a Tony Daley goal vs Manchester City at Christmas 1991. I havent seen it for years so i'll have to dig out the old video. Anyway, if memory serves there's a flick on from Cyrille Regis and Daley hits it on the volley in front of the Holte. A bit like Krancjar's goal on Saturday. Quality goal and the whole ground went beserk. Savo's equalizer at home to Newcastle in 1997 after we were 2-0 down. A pity then that Yorke blew the chance to make it 3-2 when he shot his penalty tamely at Shaka Hislop to deny us the victory. Bittersweet emotions from that game.
