Today, I am annoying going to miss the 2nd half due to being on a flight as a passenger.

I just hope that everything goes to plan and I can celebrate on the way back to East Mids later on.

Come on Villa!

As long as it achieves the results it has of late then I’m not fussed how we do it. We tend to win, so just do that again.

I don't see why anyone would be surprised that he's playing his first choice left centre-back.

Very MON. When it doesn't work it's generally because we've shown teams too much respect. I'd prefer not to be biting my nails hoping we can get a winner with 5 minutes and added time rather than feet up at half time cheering on Forest and Everton whilst laughing at the exodus at Old Trafford.

Even by our very low annual standards at Old Trafford I'm staggered how bad we've been.

Not even competing for 50/50s.

We really need to get McGinn off if he's just going to be stuck out on the left all game as Ramsey would track back better and actually offer us more on counter.

Feels like these type of selections hold us back a bit during seasons and mean we go into crucial games with a negative mentality as not like we're playing PSG today (although we've made Man. United look like them).

Hopefully we use the bench at half time as this first half has been completely unacceptable, like we've been on the sauce in Deansgate all week preparing for this.

Only because he needed to take a touch because of the on rushing Martinez. However the ball direction should have been looked at by the ref as a possible non-red, but I suppose the refs got a bollocking last week after the FA Cup decision.

Players mentality weak as fuck, the biggest games they disappear in to their shells. Cash can fuck off once and for all and that's the end of Martinez at the club. Again a fuck up just before half time or at the end of a game.

Masters of our own downfall again. No one has gotten in to the game, no one is playing with intensity, Cash lollygagging around playing a dumb pass and that's the end of it. We'll have to score 4 now mannequin Olsen is in goal.

We never approach these games with an up and at them attitude on the front foot. Fucking rubbish from the first to last second in that half.

So Attwell at Wembley didn’t send off the Palace keeper and then on VAR today didn’t overturn this one
why on earth would Attwell over-turn that? clearest red card you'll see

Not as clear as the Palace one last week, as CH mentioned.

Hoilund's touch looked like it was taking him towards the corner flag too.

Only because he needed to take a touch because of the on rushing Martinez. However the ball direction should have been looked at by the ref as a possible non-red, but I suppose the refs got a bollocking last week after the FA Cup decision.

I'm not suggesting he shouldn't have been sent off, more that Hoilund would likely have found a way to mess it up anyway.

Chelsea 1-0

We're in the Europa league even with a defeat then.

That is the best we can hope for given the complete mess of that first half, gives two routes into CL for next season at least compared to just one.

TBF to Yanited, they've worked their socks off and closed us down all across the back and midfield.

We've been reduced to spooning the ball up to Watkins who's had no support.

Asensio and Rogers haven't got into the game.

Kamara's been trying to put out fires in and around the back line and has spent more time at right back than in midfield, leaving Onana to try and play against a midfield who have fouled us everytime we've tried to play forward.

Cash - prize wanker for the back pass, he didn't have too many options, but it was a suicide ball.

Martinez will cop the flak, but Cash was 100% to blame.

One thing I'm certain of, McGinn on the left has had its day.

Really negative selection with how we've played when we have better on the bench (Ramsey).

He got us up the pitch quickly v Man. City and won the penalty so again to me poor he's been overlooked when he's been off for two weeks.

Even Mike Dean isn't backing his mates on that decision.

Quote
Sky Sports' Mike Dean on Villa's disallowed goal:

“He’s gone to get the ball the keeper, it's hit one hand and it’s come out on his own accord – he’s done that himself.

“The ball is free and the attacker has every right to go for it. He hasn’t got the ball under control. It should be a goal.

“If the whistle went then it can’t be a goal.”

Malen not used again past 80th min mark aswell.

Did Unai just ignore all the goals he was scoring in April?!

He has pace and they have Evans and Maguire in the back 3 so surely get him on, go direct and try to get them out of shape.

Had two tactical shockers in the last month v Palace and today.

Corruption is real and the ref blowing when he is told not to proves it

Of course its corrupt, in spite of anything that has happened previously, at that point we was in the CL, the ref decision followed instantly be the Man utd goal has put us out.

Always the same at their place. Officials finding ever more novel reasons to wipe off our goals.⁷
It's not Atwell. The ref blew the whistle incorrectly. There's no way he could be sure of a foul. If he waited he could of let VAR sort it out

Thing is Man. United don't care about this game whatsoever so they don't even need decisions to go for them.

I think they were in total shock at how passive we've been and just continued playing at a quick tempo when they'd have fallen away like all their other home games in last six months if we'd played with any sort of desire today.

We haven't.

Unforgiveable aswell if Newcastle qualify for CL ahead of us by losing themselves.

We were poor but we should've been 1-0 up and yet again a truly awful bit of officiating has completely fucked us. Everyone knows how VAR works, everyone knows that it's there to check incidents exactly like the one we saw but, for whatever reason, the ref has decided to blow up a second earlier than he needed to and make it impossible for VAR to do anything. It doesn't matter how poor we were up to that point, the ref has made an error which has probably cost us £60-70m and a place in the Champions League. Corrupt or Incompetent, I don't care which you think, but the ref has fucked us.

What was the other massive fuck up we got done by before when they used the ref had just blown the whistle. Was it Grealish pen at Palace?

Yes, Attwell. Wanker.

Was that Attwell? Thought it was someone else.

Olympiakos, Palace, ManUre. Three huge games, started terrified in all of them and got blown away in them all. This team doesn't have the minerals for it.

What about all the big games we've won?

It’s the one offs must win.
Also One point away against the top 6 teams. Really poor

7th from nowhere to qualify for Europe 2 years ago.
Top 4 last year.
Lost by a goal to form side of Europe this year.
Best 2 points total in 20 team Premier League

I know what we've done. Finished 4th and 6th. 0 trophies. Bridesmaids with no balls.

Premier League Match Centre on X: "The referee’s call was a free kick to Manchester United with Bayindir deemed to be in control of the ball before Rogers gained possession.

"The whistle was blown by the referee before the ball entered the goal, therefore the incident was not reviewable by the VAR."

Wouldn't have mattered if we'd played properly in the first half and gone 2-0 up like last year.

How many were cup semi finals, or crucial for champions league qualification?

You don't reach semis, CL QF and qualify for Europe 3 years in a row if bottlers. It's a fucking stupid term used by some whenever we lose.

Once again, Emery needs to be questioned about his management of important games. It happens time after time that he and the team play scared. I am not saying he needs to go or anything like that, but he is not infallible and he should be asked some difficult questions.

Bring back Lambert.

You are an idiot.

Having this specific game last when we needed something from it guaranteed a disastrous outcome. And so it proved
Yes. Gert in two keepers (assuming Emi is off) and two RB that all are good enough for top level and we can go for the League title next year.

Seems like they are explaining why VAR couldn't do anything. Ref was incompetent but I also think we would have carried on and lost anyway. We have let bigger leads slip against that lot all the time.

You do. We have good players, who can't handle extreme expectation or pressure. They need breaking up now. In fact, I don't think we'll have a choice now. Finances will dictate that. We had our opportunity. FA Cup, failed. Conference league failed.

I think it's more we choke when we get on the verge of something.

Cup SF and today aren't just reasonable unlucky defeats, they are two of the worst performances we've put in under Emery in nearly three years so there is something wrong in our mindset when it comes to the crunch even if we do well to get into these positions.

All those really good away wins, 4-1 v Newcastle, 1-0 at Bournemouth in last two months just to put in that level of performance.

The players need to be badly hurting after that and 3/4 of them really need to be sold just to shake things up a bit more.

Let’s be really clear - it isn’t covering up. It is incompetence, but it’s not a cover up to follow the rules.

Also against two of our bogey teams. Emery really needs to set out a plan against teams who play 3 at the back and overload midfield. Look how other teams get past them with pace in the side for example and look at how they press in such a way that our style of play is not suited for it at all.

We didn’t deserve anything in this game regardless of the referee’s total fuck up. We shouldn’t be sulking as we didn’t turn up. I’m pissed off with the line up more than anything as it takes a tremendous effort to play worse than the worst ManU team in 20 odd years. We somehow managed it. Wankers!

We have a very talented squad of players, the best we've had for years, a brilliant coach who has clearly created a togetherness in the dressing room. What we seem to lack is not technical ability but mental strength, something you either have or not as a person. That sets good teams apart from great ones. I hate to say it but Liverpool or the Citeh team who won 4 titles back to back (fairly or not, who knows) have that mental strength but the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, ourselves and others don't.

What a load of bollocks. How could the referee make a judgement that the keeper was in control of the ball from where he saw it? When it was shown on VAR it was clear that he didn't have control of it. He shouldn't have blown the whistle and then let VAR have a look at it. Ref fucked up but they'll never admit that. Meanwhile we've lost millions because of that incompetence.
