For the final time this season, and a nice relaxing way to end the season.
Sunday 25th 4pm KO.
Other fixtures
Tues
Man City v Bournemouth
Sun
Fulham v Man City
Newcastle v Everton
Forest v Chelsea
-
1-3 and into the CL.
-
2-0 up, lose 3-2. Some thirteen year old who will never be heard of again to come off the bench and score the winner in the 107th minute.
-
2-0
-
Let’s do these wastes of time. 8)
-
Hopefully they have extra time and pens midweek. We will win by two whatever.

And a really intrusive customs search on the way back.
-
We need the EL final to go to penalties, them ideally to pick up some injuries, and to lose, thereby ensuring the place is flat as it can be on Sunday.
Don't want them having the boost of parading a trophy before kick off.
And I know, that means Spurs winning something, which makes the back of my mouth flood with sick, but needs must.
I also would not automatically assume Newcastle beat Everton on Sunday.
-
Newcastle missing out would be glorious.
Villa/Forest/Everton wins. That's the Sunday dream.

I feel like Everton went all out to win the last game at Goodison. I reckon they'll probably spend half the week on the piss now they've done it and not give any more of a shit next week than we did at Selhurst Park last season, but I hope you're right.

I don't think it'll make a massive difference either way (the fact that they're not very good is obviously the big thing in play), but I think it's just as likely that a win on Wednesday and they see their season as done, and are already checked out by Sunday.
Last season we had our "season's goal achieved" moment, and rather than take that euphoria and sense of achievement into our next match decided we were done and to just let Palace walk all over us even more than they normally do.

Why are Everton players celebrating hard again?

Win - just win. I don’t care how, just win the bloody game.

Don't suppose there's any spares going ?

Also add a Spanish air traffic contollers strike delaying their return. When they do finally get a flight out a computer outrage closes Manchester airport diverting their flight to Birmingham. Then a nightmare 14 hour coach journey north on the M6 due to Just Stop Oil protests around the Ray Hall interchange. When they finally clear this Animal Liberation protesters have stopped a lorry by Keele services releasing pigs onto the motorway. When the players finally make it home to their various cheshire mansions, most of them find burglars have broken into their empty homes in a coordinated operation stealing expensive jewellery, medals, and other bling.

-
Yes, come on you spurs
Problem is they are fucking crappier than Yanited
Block out the noise , Uni to have a plan and we fuck the fuckers
I just hope the plan is not tippy, tippy at the back and allow some gormless fucker to score a wonder goal
-
Sorry, I forgot.
Do you think Rashford will have a half and half scarve on ?
-
I wonder if we have sent him back? There would potentially be a chance he could leak tactical information to them. Not that it matters too much to them in this instance.
-
Last time we played here on the last day i think we were already relegated , and lost 4-1

Yep I was there, Paul Birch with a consolation for is, diving header I think.
Anyway, 2-0, Watkins, McGinn. Cmon ta fuck!!
-
Going for a Villa win, its the only way.

Good memory. Andy Gray's last Villa appearance. I have never previously heard of Stuart Ritchie, who replaced him.

Edit: or Phil Robinson, who started for us in midfield.

oh, i was thinking 2015 era , did we get relegated at ManUre then in a 4-1 maybe not last game then

We were relegated there in 2016, but it was only one-nil and many weeks before the last day. Last day was a typically abject, for the season, 4-0 at Arsenal.
-
Anyway, so that I don't get accused of being miserable again, here's our last win there. Hause's finest hour, hilarious Fernandes miss.
-

That whole day was hilarious.
-
Hoping Spurs beat them on Wednesday and then Manure players basically down tools against us, to try and get Amorim sacked.
-
Was at that one behind enemy lines and in line with Hause header , beauty .
-
I can’t decide if it benefits us for them to win or lose on Wednesday. If they win they may well feel “job done” and be nursing hangovers.
-
They fly straight to the Far East after the game for 2 exhibition games so hopefully they will be thoroughly pissed off about that . I think them losing the final may suit us better
-
2-0 to us. We do what we must and hope the others play ball. Whatever happens it’s been one hell of a season and I’m proud of our team
-
Last time we played here on the last day i think we were already relegated , and lost 4-1

Realised now it was the 2014 game , lost 4-1 , Westwood scored from a free kick.
-

It's ManUre at OT. Their whole team could get stuck in Spain, forcing them to field 11 fans picked at random vs us, and we'd probably still find a way to lose. So even if a win for them benefits us, it won't actually benefit us.
I want Spurs to beat them because I remember the 90s.
-
We are not interested in the possibilities of defeat; they do not exist. '
-
Like I say I’ve a feeling it’s fitting if this is the place where we nail qualification for the deco second consecutive year.
-
I wonder if we have sent him back? There would potentially be a chance he could leak tactical information to them. Not that it matters too much to them in this instance.
The information will be:
"They're a good side and you're shit. So just what you usually do, cheat and score a jammy goal"
-
If they lose that final v Spurs , that place will be more of a morgue than ever . That was my only reasoning albeit the thought of Spurs in champions league is hideous . It's a tough one .
-
The information will be:
"They're a good side and you're shit. So just what you usually do, cheat and score a jammy goal"
Fernandes will be doing training ground drills with the younger players on getting into the box and then tripping yourself over.
-
2-0 up, lose 3-2. Some thirteen year old who will never be heard of again to come off the bench and score the winner in the 107th minute.
That’s not even funny.
So bloody possible though.
-
Hate this fixture. But they simply cannot run in midfield anymore, win midfield and we win.
-
They have already been giving minutes to that player to get ready for us. (Although he couldn't score against our kids in 120 minutes in the Semi-Final).
-
2-0 up, lose 3-2. Some thirteen year old who will never be heard of again to come off the bench and score the winner in the 107th minute.
They've got a young lad called Heaven playing for them :(

Heaven 17, the fooking headlines are written already
-
No way are we not winning this. I’m not even contemplating it.
-
Temptation for top stars as Yanited make the Champions League...that kinda shit ?
-
0-0 in Fergie time , Emi Martinez up for the corner and nods one in .
-
We should beat them - but ill believe it when I see it.
Makes me feel physically sick that we could go into this with them already in the CL.
-
My beloved always tells me when asked that Villa will 2-0
That means 38*3 points 114 points … maybe next season.
-
FTF 8)
-
Hopefully a comfortable, non-nervy win for us, combined with a late winner for Chris Wood.
-
Game #57, v Man Utd, so 2-1, somebody with Mc in their name scoring both goals after roughing up their keeper. Downside is we don’t finish top 5 again for seventy years.
-
Good memory. Andy Gray's last Villa appearance. I have never previously heard of Stuart Ritchie, who replaced him.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united_aston-villa/index/spielbericht/2559083
Edit: or Phil Robinson, who started for us in midfield.
Stuart Ritchie had the shortest Villa career for many years after that.
*NAMEDROP ALERT!!!*
Steve Hunt told me that before the game Frank Upton, who was caretaker manager, told Phil Robinson to mark Gordon Strachan. "Robbo came over to me after two minutes and said 'Strachan's not playing.' I said to him, 'Just round around then'."
-
Hopefully a comfortable, non-nervy win for us, combined with a late winner for Chris Wood.
Which in turn lifts Forest above Manchester City and both they and Chelsea miss out on Champions League football.
-
Just want us to get at them from the start, cut out the slow build up letting them pack their defence.
-
The reason Manure have been winning in Europe and not the league is they badly buckle when teams play with pace and are physical with them. I hope Unai is thinking about that - they’re fairly comfortable sitting defending, so we have to play with energy and intensity.
-
We are so much better than them lot. I think we'll piss it.
Hopefully other results go our way
-

I hope you’re right, obviously, but it’s pretty rare we win games at a canter. Any win will do of course.
-
While we stress all week, the executives at Sky breathe a sigh of relief that there is something to play for in the PL and it looks like they won't pick the TV games until the outcome of the match on Tuesday.
All we can do is win, and that will be Emery's focus right until the final whistle when we have that interminable wait while one of the games has 15 minutes added on, or something along those lines. Amongst all the reasons to qualify again for the CL, the fact that we get more Saturday games as a result of not playing on Thursdays is more than enough justification for me to want things to go our way.
1-2
-
I thought all games were on TV last day of the season?
-
We are so much better than them lot. I think we'll piss it.
Hopefully other results go our way
we are, and we were when they came to Villa Park this season but we still never layed a glove on them in the most boring game of the season
we are petrified of MU because of the amount of comebacks and wins they've had against us, thought Unai might change the mindset when he first came but no we are back where we've always been
the biggest problem we face is not ability, form or quality its psychological put that right and we win
-
I thought all games were on TV last day of the season?
No, but they can change them if for example one team is 4-0 up in 20 minutes. TBH it is only three matches now anyway to go on so I think they can do all three, with the Forest/Chelsea probably being the main one due to any result has so many connotations.
-
You'd think the main game will be Forest v Chelsea and they will bounce to the other games as required.
-

No recollection of Stuart Ritchie either but I do remember Phil Robinson, he was in the same sort of class as Dean Glover, Paul Kerr, Darren Bradley et all.
They never looked like they thought they deserved to be playing, and they were right.
-
I thought all games were on TV last day of the season?
I think that was just during Covid when we weren't able to attend in person.
The EPG has two as yet unconfirmed games on Sky and one on BT/TNT.

I'm sure that Sky did show all games a couple of times before Covid.
However, they probably realised that most of the final games are pretty meaningless, so what's the point in showing them all.
-
Ahh. I'm just hoping I can get a good signal inside Old Trafford, but I guess if the rain can get through, so can EE.
-
I would expect our game will be on, because it is them and they don't need much of an excuse to show them.

Villa to be 5-0 up, Fernandes exhausted and bruised on the floor, Fergie will stand over him, says "get up you son of a bitch cos Fergie loves you...." and the Rat gets to his feet and scores 6 penalties after treading on Konsa's feet.
Or 3-1 Villa
-
Had a look on a Man U forum, and already seen a couple of posts expressing a desire not to help out Man City, Newcastle, or Chelsea by beating us.
-
Always have this sense of trepidation going to Ratcliffe's Rat Infested Area, not helped by last season being 2 up & even Dendoncker scoring with a part of his foot he'd unboutedly never used before.
Spurs winning midweek is the lesser of 2 evils. Neither team deserve CL football nor the cash it brings next year - they'll both spend it on shit whilst one of the current top 7 could use that same cash to build & challenge the Sky Six. A wounded Yantied should add to the comedy with nothing at all resting on the game for us.
Watch their Onana turn into prime Gordon Banks. Hojlund turn into prime Rooney. It's really giving me the willies & I'm getting obsessive in checking the table & forum for updates.
Qualifying for the Europa League isn't a failure (& winnable), but now we've had the taste of CL & the calibre of players we have attracted as a consequence, it has to be our target whilst not in our hands, as Unai has stated on several occasions.
-

I'm sure non qualification fucks up Manure more the Spurs. Spurs have the psr AND wages leeway anyway for their spending. Whilst Manure might be hit with the wages uptick of CL membership like with Rashford, we don't know how much that is and how many players are affected. We do know that they are getting significantly less revenue though from all their sponsors.

Yup. Man Utd with Amorim trying to smash Maguire, Hoilund and Casemiro into something coherent in the Champions League next season doesn't suddenly make all their problems go away.
Spurs, with an inevitably better manager than they now have, huge amount of spending leeway, extra money and extra prestige might just find their problems going away. Or at the very least seeing their problems returning to their self-entitled "why are we only good enough to finish in the top four rather than challenging for the title" ones of a few years ago.
Man Utd in the Champions League is miles better for Villa's prospects next season than Spurs being in the Champions League.
-
Todays extracts from Red Cafe (who do we want top 5 thread) -
City missing out would be ideal but I don't see them losing two in a row. Forest vs. Chelsea has draw written all over it, so my guess is: Dippers, Arsenal, City, Newcastle, Villa.
City missing out would be nice, don't care about others. Villa missing out because they failed to beat us would be nice as well as we would finally get some kind of result in league.
-
Annoying that even under Unai we have a poor record against them. 4 points from 15.
-
Well, Emery has certainly broken the odd record already since he’s been here.
Sometimes, you just have to out and get the job done.

Yeah, we finally started beating those Brentford twats, and West Ham. If we can win this one then spend all summer working out how to destroy Crystal sodding Palace, that would be nice.

That's the problem. If Villa had gone from the Conference League to the eminently winnable Europa League (I mean....just look at how crap the two teams in the final are) and then stepped up again to the Champions League, things would feel better.
Villa are playing in all the right competitions, just not necessarily in the right order

These lads were before my time but whenever I see them mentioned on here, they just sound like they were minor reoccurring characters in Emmerdale Farm (as was) circa 1991-'93.

Any chance Tielemans plays on Sunday?
Hope so! Interesting to see Gary Neville included him in his team of the season last night. Rogers was also mentioned, but not picked, incidentally. Morgan did appear in the alternative team of the season for I think most times receiving the ball offensively, or something like that!
-
Thai could be one of the the best, or worst, days out ever.

I just hope they don’t use too much ginger.

Have they signed Harrison Reed from Fulham?
-
It could all go GAENG POO BAI CHA PLOO up there.
-
Rat face needs a torn hamstring tonight. That’ll do for starters.
-
I can see us getting something at OT I reckon 2-1 Villa win.
-
With the team we have, the squad availability, an elite coach and tactician, the form we are currently in - i would fancy our chances against anyone (maybe not Palace currently) but against them cnuts........i feel physically sick
I have no affection for Spurzzzzzzzzzz but i hope they smash the shit out of them tonight.
Lose the final
Current form of 5 losses and a draw in last 6 league games.
Knowing there is no European, get out of jail competition, next year.
The ridiculously over paid, over hyped shit players they cannot get rid of.
All that might just sink in and an early goal for us and the natives (well tourists and home counties fans) will be looking to see if they can buy Newcastle / Villa shirts for next season.
I will have everything crossed, lucky boxers ready but am still shitting it.
Beating THEM is more than just our potential prize of Champions league - it is more important than that
-
It's mad how much time we spend trying to work out what we want, even though we have sod all control over it whatsoever!
If these last two fixtures had been reversed, and we'd played these on Friday and Spuds at Villa Park on Sunday, we'd be confident as fuck.
-
Sky have picked 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' vs Palace (all the predicatable trophy lift bollocks) & Forest vs Chelsea for their 2 games on Sunday. TNT yet to annouce their 1 pick yet, but I guess that'll be a toss up between Newcastle vs Fulham or us.

Totally agree with the Forest choice, the Liverpool v Palace friendly is total nonsense but no surprise with Sky the wan****

Surely even Liverpool and Palace fans don't give much of a toss about that match, either.

Yes followed by a match of zero impact on the league and played at a pedestrian pace because no one cares about the outcome.

I'm no expert but going down an internet rabbit hole (yes, I do have work to do...) we've already been on BT up to their maximum quota of 6 times this season, which would mean it would be Newcastle vs Fulham. The internet does have a habit of being incorrect on a regular basis, mind.

Last words before going out there from Unai were "You're all for the chop if you don't win on Sunday, you set of bastards"
-
There are more smiles in the AVFC photos of the ‘running around in bibs’ bit of training that follows the somewhat sombre walk out of the changing room. Perhaps they’re trying to assimilate Unai’s latest video.
-
He’s just told them his son’s playing on Sunday.

Is he any good? :)

Between this and the Community Shield game in August, they'll never play such dud consecutive games against each other, or maybe anyone else, ever again.

TNT just confirmed showing our game on Sunday in the build up to the Europa final

Won’t be bad if ManUre win, they won’t give e a shit about Sunday….
Actually, not sure either result will have much impact….er…I think.

Indeed - but Unai needs to get it right. This isn’t a team to sit back against, they are fragile.
-
They're fucking dire. If the gap hadn't grown so much in the last 3 or 4 seasons, they wouldn't be in the league next year.
-
The reason they’re so poor in the league or against English opposition is they kind handle pace, physicality ,and intensity. That’s what you have to do to make them buckle.
-
If we don't beat these we want fucking locking up.
How many times have we said that.
Yeah, but it’s never been truer than Sunday.
Indeed - but Unai needs to get it right. This isn’t a team to sit back against, they are fragile.
That's right, very frail and if they lose this totally brittle, get at them straight away, early goal, and that will put them back into losing mode, job done.
-
By scoring a goal, it's how goal droughts usually end.
Against us.
His last goal drought ended against Bournemouth.
Is not scored in three league matches a drought?
-
League games weren't mentioned. We can switch it to Leicester though if you want.
-

No. I meant he last scored against Bournemouth the end of April but has played in only 3 league games since. So if CV is stating he will end his drought against us, I'm asking is that classed as a drought. Non league games and he scored on the 8th May
-
Ah got you.
-
Main worry is them playing Garnacho against Cash
-
What's the odds of them turning into Brazil 1970 on Sunday?
-
What's the odds of them turning into Brazil 1970 on Sunday?
Similar to the chances of anything coming from Mars.
-
Thank you for that reassurance.
-
We could get the backlash after they lost to Spurs tonight!
-
We could get the backlash after they lost to Spurs tonight!
Or the whole stadium will be against them after losing in that final. Swings and roundabouts.
-
Can’t see why this lot will be motivated to backlash.
We’ve just got to watch Maguire up front at the end
-
If we don't batter this shite we don't even deserve to be in the Premier League.
-
Indeed!
-
They are utter shit. An unmotivated group of players with a clown for a manager and a twat for an owner.
-
We could get the backlash after they lost to Spurs tonight!

They are going to take some picking up after that result, it will dawn on Utd that season has been about missing relagation, players will now be considering there future, Amorim will be doing the same, its up to Villa.
-
Look let’s be clear - it’s entirely possible we don’t win given our record against them. They often find a way. But if we don’t win against this Manure side at Old Trafford, where they are worse, then we don’t deserve top 5. I’ll still be very annoyed, but this team in this moment versus us, with more rest and prep…we should beat them comfortably. We might not, but if we don’t it’s about us not them.
-
Sandwell would probably give this lot a game, once they finished fawning over them and all that.
-
The Man U employees that Amorim bought tickets for will be claiming constructive dismissal after sitting through that.
-
Surely that loss makes Bruno Fernandes more likely to leave and join a good team.
-
They are going to nail us on Sunday if we are off it at all. We need a big performance to put them away early. Big performances throughout the team for the whole game. No matter how bad a run they are on we seem to always give them an out. It's heartbreaking that Splottingham Hot Turd are in the Champs League.
-
5th place ahouldn't be a spot but it is. Spurs actually had to win something to be in it.
-

5th is a spot because we were really fucking good in Europe. Spurs are there because of a format change.

Even so, I would say getting a Champions League qualifying place is winning something, its bloody hard to do, it may not be standard trophy stuff, but you've won a place to sit at the top table of football. Sheds loads of money
-
Which England qualify for because we make up for wank shafts like Man City, who scrape over the line then limp out.
Spurs beating the worst Man United side in most life time is hilarious. But beating Bilbo Bagins FC and the like on top of this garbage, Jaysus, they'll ensure it's top 4 only next year.
-
I don't think 5th should be a CL spot, but it is so I hope we benefit from it. Same as Spurs have benefited from the qualifying criteria.
-
I think 5th should be a Champions League spot if thats the highest we can finish.
-
Let's destroy ManUre to a degree that they turn on their players and manager at the Theatre Of Prawns.
-

And forest, unfortunately
-
All about getting the first goal on Sunday. They look like a broken team to me who basically need this last match like a hole in the head. They could collapse. Plus the pressure it would put on the rest of the teams we are competing with for top 5 would be massive. Need to go at them from the off.
-
I’m going there expecting a 4 or 5 nil win.
-
Zero excuses whatsoever to not beat them now . The atmosphere will be toxic , empty seats too i reckon . They are shite , if we blow this one questions about mentality will need asking .

Correct, unless perhaps we let a 2 or 3 goal lead slip late on. I certainly won't be fretting about our mentality and us 'blowing it' for the next few days.
-
Even if we did lose no one will have taken more points than us over the last 10 games of the season. Hardly suggests a mentality problem.
-
Aw triggered someone on Facebook referring to the manure as manure. Will enjoy those tears. Some proper throbbers on there tonight
-
I had a look on RedCafe and the majority of posts so far are convinced that Amorim will be staying, that the atmosphere will be toxic, that they expect the same team to play so that they can let them know their disappointment and that we are expected to turn up and walk it.
There’s time for any or all of this to change before Sunday, of course.
-
I really hope we go for the jugular in the first ten minutes, really no need for the tippy tappy stuff.
-
I am sure the Old Trafford faithful can not wait to see their hero’s proudly display the fruits of their loins with designer clad wags in tow.
-
Extra nice them losing last night, as the media and UEFA would have been desperate for Manure to be in Europe.
-
They are one of the reasons we're on TNT of course, the wankers.
-
I really hope we go for the jugular in the first ten minutes, really no need for the tippy tappy stuff.
Agreed, an early goal will hopefully make the atmosphere turn. Important we don’t concede.

Ha, so true, the massive cucks.
-

Remember Taggart's last game when they played them at the Whorethorns and drew 12-all or something daft? It was all "ooh Sir Alex, what an honour it is to host your last ever match you absolute legend". If that had been down the Villa he'd have left with three points (granted) and 40,000 giving him a right round of fucks for two hours.
-
An easy big win would also mean an exodus from the home fans, therefore a lovely traffic free departure from OT. Which is nice.

Won't they want to stick around for the Lap of Appreciation?!

Will be ten home losses in a season as well. All but two coming under Amorim with his only wins coming against Everton when they were shit and he hadn't pissed off Rashford, and two of the relegated teams.
But they are definitely a team that turns it on for the last 10 mins or so, so we definitely need that good lead by then. They have scored 16 goals in the last 15 minutes which considering they have only scored 26 times in the rest of the match, is definitely something.
-
I feel sick

The last bit is revealing and I'll only be comfortable with a 3 goal lead going into the last ten mins.
-
So this (and the other games involving the top 6 minus Pissed FC and Arsenal) are all '£100m games' then?
-
Rumblings of discontent coming from ManUre this morning. Not a happy club.
-
Go on….
-
Garnacho has publicly railed against being dropped for the final along with his brother stating similar. And where Watkins did something similar in the happy interview being led on with Redknapp's jokiness, he didn't say
It’s difficult for all of us. This season has been shit”.
“We lost the final, we didn’t beat anyone in PL. It’s very difficult”.
And when Amorim was asked about why he didn't start Garnacho, he pointed back to a miss from a few weeks back from him.
Hopefully it means he is dropped for Sunday.
-
Apparently they need to sell at least two of Rashford, Mainoo and Garnacho this summer as they're the only assets with enough profit value to keep the PSR wolves from the door.
So I wonder whether he knows he's on his way already.

Pretty much the only three of their players worth taking. Tremendous stuff.
-
Not that i want to talk about them but if they keep this clown in charge could we actually see them next season be relegation candidates?
If they were then expect the league to find a clause that would not allow them to be sent down.
More than ever i want us to smash these fuckers - do you think Rashford would be on our bench (as a spectator) as he is technically still ours until end of season - that would be something.
Can you imagine their lot having to9 do a lap of honour - i would pay to see that :)
-
With Rashford I think they have got to sell him no matter what
-
Not that i want to talk about them but if they keep this clown in charge could we actually see them next season be relegation candidates?
They will be saved by the promoted teams and even West Ham being shit.
-
If we manage to lose against this useless shower on Sunday we might as well give up playing them,
if we cant beat them when they’re in their boots embarrassed on a European stage with nothing to play for with us going for CL football we never will ever again
-
Citeh couldn't beat a relegated Southampton under an interim manager a few weeks ago. Weird results happen in football.
-
What worries me about Villa is we always seem to fuck up when it matters most. I hope this time I’m wrong.
-
I don't think we're that club anymore and haven't been for approx 2.5 years. We needed to be the best team in the league for over a quarter of a season to give ourselves a chance. Win on Sunday and we're edging toward a third of the season. Earlier in the season is up for debate, but when it matters we've been posting wins repeatedly against mainly top half opposition.
-
I think we are massively better at winning the must win games. But we can’t win them all.
This changed in the run-up to getting Conference League, the win over Spurs to leapfrog them and the win against Brighton to secure it.
Same last season, the old Villa would never have got back to 3-3 against Liverpool.
This season we’ve had to be perfect for the last four games to stand a chance, and we’ve won everyone so far.
-
Yeah, the win at Arsenal, with them up for the title and our only fit players running on empty, stands out too.
That had to happen and was way more difficult than Sunday. I think we'll win (sorry, Gods). 50/50 on whether it'll be enough.
-

You can get odds of around 4/1 on all three of Newcastle, Man City and Chelsea winning. So anyone who is confident we'll do our bit, lump a few hundred quid on that trio and treat yourself to a nice Europa League consolation prize if it comes to it.
-
Edit: Epic quote fuck up.
That is seriously tempting.
-
What worries me about Villa is we always seem to fuck up when it matters most. I hope this time I’m wrong.
That’s a universal footy fan statement about their own club.
-

Yep and just not true with us since Unai turned up. Yes we’ve lost two semi finals, fact is we normally don’t even get that far. And our league form, home league form in particular is largely outstanding.
On Sunday, it would take us having an off day and them having a very good day for us not to win. This shit happens, e.g. Southampton Man City, Ipswich also beat Chelsea etc. but it also largely doesn’t happen and form plays out.
Im not fucking with the Gods here, it is what it is. I see us winning, maybe 2-0. If we draw and still get to 5th all good, if we don’t well we fooking tried.
-
If it is Emi’s last game, he’s gonna wanna go out with his sheets absolutely sparkling.

I'd back that and Man City would end up drawing still fucking us over!
-
Good spot. I originally had Man City +1 on the slip I put together then forgot about it. Moves it down to around 3/1 I think.
-
What worries me about Villa is we always seem to fuck up when it matters most. I hope this time I’m wrong.
If we fuck it up against this rabble then we deserve the Micky Mouse Cup as punishment .

Lots of talk in the Manchester local press that Yanited are going to play lots of the kids and rotate heavily.
-
Todays Red Cafe installment -
fecking forfeit it. I don’t even care. I don’t even want to see these players or this manager ever again.
Like going to a funeral
Off to an air b&b for the bank holiday weekend, so these lot can suck my fat one
If results go our way, we can still finish 14th. Worth a bit of extra money.
-
Lots of talk in the Manchester local press that Yanited are going to play lots of the kids and rotate heavily.
Now I'm more worried. It's not like they could be much worse.
-
The fact that Spurs have beaten them four times this season, and we've given up the opportunity to give them PTSD by rocking up in our current white away kit is already concerning me.
-

Yeah, I'd much rather play the shitshow we have all seen.
-
#AVFC have earned eight points from their last seven Premier League games against Man Utd (W2 D2 L3), as many as they had in their previous 31 (W1 D5 L25).
-
We really need to start beating these on a regular basis. I suppose victory Sunday on would help.
-
Yeah that’s still not great.

Apparently we're wearing the new black away kit they're bringing in for next season*. I hope it turns out to be lucky!
*According to Justin Talks Villa on YouTube.

Well yes, in a number of ways.
-
Lots of talk in the Manchester local press that Yanited are going to play lots of the kids and rotate heavily.
"Lots of the kids" simply says to me lots of potential players to score the winner and never be heard of again, after they come back from 2-0 down.
-
Man U 1.4 Villa
-
Not sure why they would play the kids, to be honest.
They play in Kuala Lumpur on the 28th, so hopefully the squad will have had enough by now and just want the season to end.
-

And if they were successful instead of dross atm they would be the first whining that they play so many games.
-
All the results against us. So ManC, Newcastle z Chelsea win 3.23/1. Us losing too... 18/1 US winning too, 6.05/1.
Odds for our game
ManU 7/2
Draw 3/1
Villa 4/6
-
Have we ever been odds on to win there?
-
I can't imagine so. Would guess the most recent times we were probably favourites to win there were last season and in 1990. Lost both.
-
Have we ever been odds on to win there?
Maybe before WWI

Lenglet and Dendoncker, blimey.

I had an anxiety dream that we put in a FA Cup semi-final performance and lost 2-0. I'm a 45 year old man.

I had a dream that face huggers were trying to get into the house and all I had was a lighter and a can of deodorant. I burnt my thumb.

That game gives me the jitters as well. We need to perform at a very high level to get out of there with the win. Lots of pressure on us, no expectations on them. Nervous as he'll about this one.

We should steel ourselves for Sunday's coverage, we'll be lucky to get a mention. The Guardian 10 things is all about Newton Heath. I know it's a massive story and after 50 years of listening to people wank on about them whether good, bad or indifferent I tend to do no more than roll my eyes, but it's still unfair to a Manager who has achieved extraordinary things in such a short amount of time.

Interesting stat in that article. If we win it will be the first time since 1930/31 we'll have won 20+ top-flight games in consecutive seasons.
Rams home how inconsistent nay crap we've been for much of the last 100 years and what a brilliant job Unai is doing.

For a supposedly "left-wing" newspaper, the Guardian has always had a tendency for forelock-tugging. The sports coverage worships at the altar of cash, they have a grovelling attitude to the monarchy and their list of birthdays is never short of the obligatory tedious dukes and lords.

Last year flying out on Wednesday mornings for Conference League stuff, going through Manchester, the volume of plastics that had been to their game the night before and fucking off elsewhere was always incredible.

They didn't want the news affecting the final, but not bothered about the last game.
-
I see some of Man Utd’s staff at the training ground have found out they’re in scope to lose their jobs in the redundancies - but weren’t told in case it hindered prep for the final. Morale must be incredible, that’s utterly appalling.

Ratcliffe epitomises everything that's wrong with capitalism in 2025, he knows the price of everything and the value of nothing! Yet the plebs still tug at their forelock in awe of these brilliant entrepreneurs 🙄

I still think a Man Utd win would have been better for us in the long-run on Wednesday, but by Jove is it a nice consolation that such an awful shower of bastards are getting their rightful comeuppance.
Brexit Jim and the higher-ups anyway, obviously not the staff losing their jobs.

It's a disgusting state of affairs.
We need to absolutely do these on Sunday.

That just means he was at the training ground, probably doing his own workout inside. If he plays I'll be delighted, but I'm not basing anything off that picture as we might be playing one of the cooks in midfield as well.

Man Utd would probably be better off playing their cooks in midfield but they've got rid of them all.
-
Also, the cooks at Bodymoor make an awesome cookie, so do not underestimate them.
-
Is that what they supplied at the end of the walk?
-
They did a lot of really nice-looking pasta dishes, and trays of freshly baked cookies. They were absolutely gorgeous.

His "look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves" nonsense is somewhat undercut by the fact that, of the 5m they receive as runners up, 3.5m has to go to chelsea because of Mount's appearance in the final. It's actually incredible how poorly run they are.
-
Apparently they have £156m in transfer fees to pay out this summer. And they'll lose a chunk in sponsorship as things like their kit deal pays less when they're not in the CL.

All good, but I would imagine their commercial income globally for stuff dwarfs us and most other clubs. All the little Tommy's, Xiang's and Pedro's around the world getting the new kit in the summer is something we can't get close to.
-

I heard on a podcast that they have to pay Adidas £10m because they're not in the CL again.
Edit: if true, it would obviously be a penalty clause as part of a lengthy, complex contract worth fuck know's how many millions, I don't think they were suggesting it was a summary embarrassment tax.
-
Was hoping it was going to be a bright glorious day for it, but weather looks like it's going to be raining. >:(
It's manchester . Raintown .

All good, but I would imagine their commercial income globally for stuff dwarfs us and most other clubs. All the little Tommy's, Xiang's and Pedro's around the world getting the new kit in the summer is something we can't get close to.
Although as they become shitter, those fans change allegiances to teams that win stuff. They are still living off Ronaldo once playing there as shown by the two whose shirts were beered the other day.
-
For all it dwarfs other clubs. other clubs aren't skint pricks laying off Doris the tea lady to save enough money to pay 5 mins of wages for some overpriced tat player.

While this is true, I read that a few people that were in today's sackings had job titles like "UEFA liaison officer".
Which in the circumstances feels like a bit of a redundant position (in both senses of the word) at the moment.
-
Hopefully we hit the final nail into their coffin this season . There really aren't any technical reasons why we should not win this .

Youri training today
Manager Emery provided a fitness update on Tielemans at Friday afternoon’s pre-match media conference.
“He trained today, the first day he’s trained with the group,” said the Villa boss.
“Tomorrow we’ll train again.
“If he’s feeling good, comfortable and, more or less, without some doubt, he’ll be with the team in the squad for Sunday.”

This pleases me. 8)

Aston Villa last won a final game away from home in 2001. Chelsea away.
A truly monolithic record.

And still better than our Boxing Day away record.

We've laid to bed some bad records under Emery
Need to do another couple tomorrow

Referee: Thomas Bramall. Assistants: Eddie Smart, Akil Howson. Fourth official: Bobby Madley. VAR: Stuart Attwell. Assistant VAR: Natalie Aspinall.

His "look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves" nonsense is somewhat undercut by the fact that, of the 5m they receive as runners up, 3.5m has to go to chelsea because of Mount's appearance in the final. It's actually incredible how poorly run they are.
It's incredible and highly amusing. Makes you grateful that we have a couple of savvy billionaires running the Villa.

I'm a big fan of Alfie and HITC Sevens, this is his latest

It was 2002, but still a horrific stat.

Can we please not do the low intensity, taking heat out of the game shite and kick the shit out of these pricks from the start.
-
I think any kind of preparation for what Man United will show up is pointless. Amorim won't care less how the game goes. If he plays kids and backup players or if he plays Casemiro etc it doesn't matter. They are dangerous tomorrow as I think they will go full on kamikaze. Likes of Garnacho might be playing for a move, dangerous for our full backs. Pissed off players, fans and manager.
So for us, this is our cup semi final again. We didnt show up that day and this is a chance for redemption. A lot of the games in the run in have been cruisy really. Fulham and Spurs were waving the white flag. Bournemouth was different, first 60 mins without being brilliant I thought we were just rock solid. Like a battle hardened team knowing what had to be done to win a crucial game. Same required tomorrow, don't give them an inch and our quality will tell
Martinez
Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen
Kamara, Onana
McGinn, Rogers, Ramsey
Watkins

I am expecting the same approach as against Spurs, control the game, try to limit their counter attacks and grind them down.
Only works if we don't concede of course.
-
Yes, they’re struggling for goals, only scoring five in the last eight league games. And three of those were in the same match against Brentford.
If we ensure we are solid defensively and back ourselves to find a goal, we will win. This seems to be the approach we are taking during the run-in.

If Man Utd have got the right manager, it's going to take a minimum of 3 years for them to get back up to the top 6. If they've got the wrong manager they're in trouble. So far it looks like he's the latter.
If we start well & get the early goal things will turn nasty.

Onana needs to start given how he's played last few weeks. Will be good for us next season I'm sure. Think from the comments Youri will be on the bench and only used last ten minutes if we're drawing.
When you look back at last 30 years in the league we've actually had very few cliff-hanger final days compared to most clubs.
In all our relegation battles it was settled before last game and of course 15/16 we were down by November. Then in the championship we got into the play offs before the final day and since coming back up only 2020 when we got that nailbiting draw at West Ham was a decisive last day result needed so tomorrow will be different needing a win and intently watching two other games at the same time.
Funnily enough one of the most entertaining final days didn't really involve us but was 2011 when we were beating Liverpool 1-0 and everyone around me was just listening to SHA losing and getting relegated.
-
Probably the last dance for that incredible spine we have had for the last few years -
Martinez Mings McGinn Watkins . Emotional. All modern day legends of the club in my humble opinion.
-
I am nervous, but not as nervous going into the West Ham game a few years back.
-
Should we assume we won't be seeing Garnacho tomorrow?

I appreciate it will upset you if it happens, but I'd be very surprised if Mings plays ahead of Pau tomorrow.

From 2011-2020 we only played six (I think) Premier League games where we were mathematically safe.

Yeah, heard that one before . If Mings is 100% he will play . Torres is a risk for big games , if this season has taught us anything..

Who knows. The only defensive certainty is that, if fit, Konsa will play. Somewhere.

He'd be a fantastic Bailey upgrade if we have any chance of signing him. Under Emery I think he could be a real asset , his speed is incredible.
-
Should we assume we won't be seeing Garnacho tomorrow?
Great if true as my big worry would be him up against Cash!
I can Tielemans starting tomorrow hence the Belgian manager’s pre emptive strike.
Don’t think Onana and Kamara works on games where expect the lion’s share of possession.
-
That will be a long, hard slog. It was a bastard in the rain just from Villa Park to Bodymoor.
Great cause.
-
Aston Villa last won a final game away from home in 2001. Chelsea away.
That was May 2002 and it included what I consider one of the great Villa goals. The game was played a week after the cup final, which Chelsea had lost, and it was a balmy spring afternoon, proper shirt-sleeve weather. Villa won comfortably 3-1 and the final goal was a real rocket from Alan Wright which bounced down from the underside of the crossbar and (I thought) over the line and back out. But there was no goal-line technology then and Dublin nodded the ball back into the net and claimed the goal.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is ready to offer an on-pitch apology to the club's fans at Old Trafford after the final Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Hopefully, we can make it a particularly grovelling apology.
-
He kind of deserves it for bowing to their demands to leave Portugal mid season or forget about getting the job, but this can't be what Amorim signed up for. It's awkward to watch at the moment, it's one humiliation after the other and his constant grovelling to a fan base who are entitled whingers is draining any remaining respect you could have for him as a person. Fucking get on with the job or leave, I'm embarrassed for him but also want to slap him for being so pathetic.
-
4-1 to the mighty Villa.
Emi to flash his cock, balls and arse to the Booby Charlton End*, Braveheart-style.
*Don't know or care if they have such a thing.
-
Going to be a lot of protesters at the game, if Villa get ahead wouldn't at all be suprised by a pitch invasion.
-
I had a 4-1 win in mind too. On Amorim apologising, please show some self respect man.
-
Not sure I’m quite ready to visualise a 4-1 win at theirs.
It’s getting close to the time where I will have to choose whether to wear this season’s beautiful away shirt to the match, or risk breaking-in the new one.
Literally the biggest decision anyone is going to face today, and you can argue our entire season hangs on it.

He knows he made a huge mistake taking the job in January and has made the situation worse.
The good news is Garnacheo is unlikely to play and he is one of their most dangerous players.
The bloke with a face like a baboons arse needs a goal though.
-
They really are falling apart at every level. Today we're going to give them a great send off for the summer.

And of course 2023 we needed to beat Brighton to claim the Conference League spot

Just go there and win. Please. I don't care how (though an absolute thrashing would be perfect) just do them.

If we win and fail to get Champs League I can live with it, frustrated as I'll be, but fail to win whilst another team fuck up and we could have made it? Oh man.

You wonder if the manager will cave too.

My psychic powers tell me at 0-0 he'll come on and Unai will react by bringing on Disasi for Cash ...

That was only a nightmare, pal 😜
Forget their circus - focus on our own game..

Well it’s only 10am and I am already very nervous.
I just want us to really be up for it and perform today.

It's 10.10 now and I have switched off SSN because they are going through the various scenarios about every 10 minutes.

I just hope we don't freeze like we did at Wembley. I'd be very temped to play either Bailey or Malen as Luke Shaw was fucking rubbish the other night. I'd play Mings as well to keep slabhead quiet from any corners. 1-2. Asensio with both. Peter Davenport with theirs.

Luke Shaw is one dirty bar steward , i hope we have a strong ref today .

Disasi hasn't played a minute has he since Man. City away. Tells you all you need about whether we'll sign him permanently or not.

Old Trafford last day of the season.
Small Heath stayed up and them going down prevented us winning the Second Division the season after. They're such twats that even when they get relegated, they do it in a way that annoys Villa.
-
on paper its an away banker. even when you have crap records at grounds the end of season can change the vibes somehow if one team is mentally checked out.
-
Any other club, even Spurs, I think would be desperate to get a win on the last day, even if it changes nothing and it's still their worst season ever. I just can't see that at Man U. They don't seem to care, don't want to win for themselves, for the fans, certainly not for the manager. I'll be hugely disappointed if we don't get a win here.

You would imagine none of them want to play this fixture today.

Always feel the downing tools last game of the season applies more when you're away than at home. It's part of the reason we have such a dreadful away record on the last day of the season.
-
Lose can’t get CL
Draw only a Newcastle loss will get us CL
Win and we only need one of the following five results; man city loss, newcastle loss or draw, Chelsea loss or draw.
Cmon ta fuck Villa, put these feckers to the sword.
Martinez
Cash
Konsa
Mings
Maatsen
Kamara
Onana
Ramsey
Watkins
Rogers
McGinn
McGinn, Ramsey, Rogers and Watkins to press the fuck out of them. Asensio to come on and finish the fuckers off.

They will 100% put in their best league performance of the season today. We should still win
-
Another thing that worries me is that they have so many players that, no matter how crap the team is playing, have the ability to score a flukey shot from nowhere - Dalot, Fernandes, Amad, Mainoo...
-
Just please win Villa.
-
Not long now, huge cup final, a win and qualification today moves the club into a whole different area going into the transfer market, players we can keep, afford to buy, players that will go.
Come on Villa, whatever happens in other results lets get our end of the deal right.
Here we go.

I feel sick and totally drained and it's not getting any better.
I'm going to be a moody fucker, (more so than usual) if we don't qualify. This may be my only post today so lads and lasses UTFV, we are all part of this family and I hope we are all celebrating come 6pm.

Waiting for me down on the street
But now you gotta do somethin' special for me
I'm gonna say what's on my mind
Then I'll walk out, then I'll feel fine

I’m anxious. Even more anxious because I’m missing the whole of the 2nd half due to being on a flight from Leipzig to Brussels as a passenger. So I can’t even use the ADF/NDBs to get the scores.
Minimum of Europa League please. This has been a strange season - we’ve had great highs, some crappy moments. And a lot of last minute goals that if we hadn’t conceded, we’d have finished above Arsenal.
But that aside, the fact that we’re even still having this conversation on the last game of the season is amazing. We can only do what we can today, and hope that Forest can do what’s needed. Or Fulham. Or Everton (not so likely on this one!)
Anxious. Hell yes. I just want us to play like lions and not like we did last time in Manchester.
Come on Villa!!!
-
Youri on the bench, same team vs Spurs
-
Anyone reckon we'll be in the new away kit today?
According to the OS we are.
Please win today Villa. Pretty please!
