Only slight surprise is maybe Maarten keeping his place for Digne but not a totally unexpected line up. Solid bench.

Yep, compare their bench to ours. And we don’t even have Pau or Bailey.

This one really matters though.

Asensio always plays 10 so I don't think he will play right. McGinn left or right  or even part of a 3 in front of the defence is the only question.

If we win by 10 we go above Forest, serious questions need to be asked if that doesn't happen.

Id hope so but in recent weeks Rogers has been a fixture on the right. Not a role he is suited too in my view.

Would have liked to see Rashford start, but happy with the line up. This could be one of our toughest games of the season, they're the form team in the league, have one of the best strikers in the league, if not the best and have goals from throughout the team. What is in our favour is our magnificent home form, our bench and super SJM has now discovered, where the net is.

Well he's Polish, so I doubt he knows how to use it in a sporting sense. Might hold it the wrong way round, which would serve our purposes here tbf.

There's two main reasons why we are no longer in the CL: we let in too many soft goals, and we miss too many chances. This match is also following that pattern.

Asensio has been poor, Martinez should have claimed the cross but Scharr should have been in the changing room for the pull back on Watkins.  Bruno whatsiface is a dirty wanker and we should have had a penalty.  Newcastle so lucky.  We look dangerous at the back and up front.

I can see only one problem with Ramsdale in for Emi, and that's Ramsdale being shit.

Ramsdale would cost 35m-40m in current climate. Trafford same with more add ons.

Look like vfl is valuing Emi in 150m range by his sums.

Explain the math ?

We have been pretty dominant that first 45, Ollie has caused them no end of problems and they get a goal from a free kick after Kamara won a clean tackle.

We have been excellent.

We have played some of our best football of the season and should be 2 or 3 goals to the good. Watkins has lead the line superbly and the Toon are struggling to contain his movement.

I think Rashford's pace will also trouble them, so I see him being introduced on the hour mark to play with Watkins.

My big concerm is that Isaak has been very quiet so far and normally produdes something at some point in a game.

Every time we play these, we complain about the ref. We know what they're about, we have to find a way to combat it. Thought we started aggressively but midway through the half sat off them a bit too much. They are there for the taking if we can circumvent their Pulisball tactics. I do fancy Malen and Rashford against their fullbacks though.

Can I be controversial here?

I try to hate Newcastle, and I really hate playing them… but I actually kinda have a weirdly awkward soft spot for them.

I used to live up there and loved the Geordies. They were great fun, and Newcastle is another club that has been through bad times and - like us - are now coming good.

I really hope we stuff them ridiculous in the 2nd half, but I don’t actually mind them. Even though they are playing the “dirty bastard” role today.

There, I’ve said it. I feel better now…

I bought a multi pack of Skips earlier. First time in years i'll have had a pack.
Skips are about the only crisps I REALLY can't be had with.  I love a good crisp, me, but I just can't abide by prawn cocktail flavour.

Same here. Give me a pack of MSG filled Salt and Vinegar Discos any day of the week.

I can taste them!!!

I miss Brannigans.
Beef and mustard?

They were the ultimate crisp. The mustard was so strong you could feel it in your sinuses

That’s three fouls now by Guimares Cnut.  No bookong. He’s got a face I would never tire of punching.

3 fouls and at least as many that the ref has let go because we kept the ball, it's amazing that he hasn't been booked.

Schaar could easily have been red and Guimaraes has made enough fouls to get bookings, that we're still playing against 11 is entirely down to some very weak officiating.

So we’re winning 4-1 and bring on Malen and Rashford.

I love this team we have become.

Serious question again - I get the feeling that we’ve learnt a lot from the Champions League this season. A lot about pressing, possession, game play and how to be lethal.

We may have gone out in the 1/4 finals, but the impact for everyone is probably much deeper than we’d imagine.

Lovely. Up the villa. I trust in Unai!  We are on a journey. It’ll take time. We are ambitious.

Give Asensio a break . We wouldn’t be this close, without him

That is one hell of a performance against a fellow CL competitor.

Especially if we all thought we’d be jaded after Tuesday.

We have become one hell of a side. 2-3 signings in the summer and we’re going to cause havoc next season.
