Drawn Monday evening 8.1.24.
These are heady heights.
Will there be canapés?
-
Eastleigh or Newport (H) please
-
Small heath (H) is what I reckon.
I'd like Wigan at home though.
-
Have a funny feeling it will be against one of our lovely neighbours.
-
Number 24, Manchester United , will play Nr 2 ......
(Ball numbers shown are for illustrative purposes only)
-
By my reckoning, this is the first time since January 1996 where we are legitimately still in a race to win three competitions? Am I right?

Maidstone United (A)

Probably 2009/2010, although most likely we were near the top at the tail end of 2009 before the FA Cup started.
-
For the first time in years I'm not fussed as I think we're capable of beating anyone.
Would be nice to reach the last 16 with an easy home draw in the 4th round though.
So Coventry (H)
-
reckon we will draw Newcastle , given we play them in the league 3 days later and it often falls like that
-
Man City at home please.
Piece of piss.

-
Aston Villa v Birmingham City or Hull City......
-
Aston Villa v Birmingham City or Hull City......
Thanks but No thanks

Quite funny though. Noses have a few days getting all excited about a visit to the Four sheds stadium to put one over on the Vilers before they meekly concede at home to Hull in the replay.
-
We'll get Leicester.
-
Just basking in the glow of us being in the 4th Round.
-
Last 32 of the FA Cup, last 16 of the ECL, 2nd in the Premier League....this is all going rather well.
-
when's the final again
-
Aldershot, Hull, Wigan or Huddersfield
-
Albion, Coventry or Small Heath away please. Keep Mister honest and flex our dominance.
Love a derby, loving crushing/shithousing the small clubs.
-
Apparently last time we beat Boro in the FA cup was 1957😁

Yep this also gets my vote
-

I think Bristol City featured around this point or a bit later in proceedings, as well.
They’re still a possibility until this afternoon as I can’t see them getting past West Ham, but the Cup’s often about surprises and ‘magic’, so…

Is there any particular reason why the teams are in this order? I mean, the OCD in me wants to see them in exact alphabetical order but of course it doesn't really matter for purposes of randomness. Just curious
-
Is it just a continuation of the order the ties were drawn in the third round?
-
We're going to get to the QF and get West Ham away , i can sense it (i might still not be over it)
-
Newcastle away, followed by Newcastle at home in the league a couple of days later.
-

Yep
-
Wrexham please :)
-
Shrewsbury v Wrecsam is on S4C now, if anyone wants to scout our 4th round opponents.
-
Wrexham please :)
I like to see how fast I can get over the border from my house. 29 minutes is the record. I'd take Wrexham.
-
Please not Wrexham. The media hype if and when they draw a Premier League team will be nauseating.
-
Sheffield Wednesday at home
-
Wrexham please :)
errr no thanks . Fake club now
-
We're going to get to the QF and get West Ham away , i can sense it (i might still not be over it)
Do you think that will be a running battle inside and outside the ground this time
-

I’ll take West Ham away this year - 6000 tickets allocated to away fans
-
Manchester City at home. I don't want it!
-
We're getting a Sheffield club or Southampton.
-
It would be nice to draw Wrexham and absolutely hammer them. Downside would be the media wankfest if we did anything other than hammer them.

Dunno. The FA contacted me and said go and buy 32 ping pong balls, then I borrowed my granddaughters paint set to put the numbers on. I think this could be a good business opportunity. I was hoping to get the National lottery contract and I realised this would mean a further up front capital outlay on 25 more ping pong balls. Then someone pointed out I need further ping pong balls for the bonus ball draw and my whole business plan began to unravel.
-

Please not Wrexham , I don't want to be an extra on Netflix for them

Me too.
Shrek.

Maidstone or Wrexham at home.

We don't want any more games abroad before March.
-
Luton/Bolton (H)
-
Anyone that results in a Thursday or Friday night or Saturday lunchtime or 3.00pm home tie. Anything outside that I'm going to struggle to get there. I have an inkling it will be Cov away. Obviously exactly as reliable as anyone else's inklings !
-
Wrexham and their accompanying circus at home please, so we can smash them into next week.
-
What I don't want:
- a local derby
- one of Liverpool or the Manchester clubs
- a hiding-to-nothing lower league opposition such as Wrexham
Home game against a bottom half Premier League/Championship side with no media cheerleaders would suit perfectly. Southampton or Blackburn would be just fine.
-
i imagine we will be one of the hot balls as the sponsors will want the big clubs keeping apart in the 4th round
-
i imagine we will be one of the hot balls as the sponsors will want the big clubs keeping apart in the 4th round
Yeah, just like they did with Arsenal and Liverpool in the last round.

Oh dear, I seem to have jinxed the Hammers.
-
And if we do get a home draw, the club learns from the mistakes of the Everton Carabao Cup tie and don't rip us off, resulting in a poor turnout.
-
i imagine we will be one of the hot balls as the sponsors will want the big clubs keeping apart in the 4th round
Yeah, just like they did with Arsenal and Liverpool in the last round.
since when have Arsenal been a big club ;D
-
With Blues, West Brom, Coventry and Wolves in the draw, I’m sensing a derby day coming on…
-
My hunch is Southampton away.
-

I see ship funnels. Funnels and Shane Long.

Yeah, just like they did with Arsenal and Liverpool in the last round.

When Piers Morgan started supporting them 5 years ago ?
-

When Piers Morgan started supporting them 5 years ago ?
1981, when Highbury was packed out to see the title won ?
-
I'd like anyone who isn't a Prem side, just for something a bit different. Seems unlikely given half the teams left are Prem.
-
Like the idea of Wigan or Manchester United away sending the forum into a conspiratorial meltdown only for Wigan to win the third round tie.
-
i imagine we will be one of the hot balls as the sponsors will want the big clubs keeping apart in the 4th round
Yeah, just like they did with Arsenal and Liverpool in the last round.

They've win the league five and the FA Cup eleven times since we've won them so probably some time round about then.
-
Man City at home.

😁👏
-
Wrexham and their accompanying circus at home please, so we can smash them into next week.
It's a hiding to nothing, a game like that. Whatever happened the narrative would be about them. Which if we won wouldn't bother me, we're through, let the story be all about Hollywood FC and their brave efforts. But if we lost we'd look like twats and the media feeding frenzy would be unbearable
-
Is it just a continuation of the order the ties were drawn in the third round?
Yes, I think that is it. I seem to remember a lot of these teams being drawn at that point for the 3rd round. Blues were definitely last out
-
We'll get something desperately dull like Sheff Utd H
-
We'll get something desperately dull like Sheff Utd H
That would do. We want some dull, relatively straightforward games where we can rotate a bit/give some fringe players a bit more game time, before a home quarter final and a semi against Wigan, final against Man City where we funeral them and give Grealish a massive round of fucks.
-

Yep, that game before Christmas was easy and dull. ;)
I agree though, something straightforward would be good, preferably a team that like to try and play football though, so we can punish them royally.

I was hoping for an undeserved win on penalties away at Cit£h in the qtr final with Grealish missing the all important penalty for them with a chorus of “you should have stayed at a big club” ringing in his ears. I can but dream…..
-
I'd like us to beat Tottenham, Liverpool, ManU and ManC on the way to winning the trophy.
-

Absolutely. The way to progress in the FA cup is not to be entertaining it's look at the job in hand, conserve energy, win by the one goal and onto the next round just as we did. You don't get any further by winning by more goals.
-
I am really excited about the draw.
-
It’s just great to have an interest past the first week of January.
Gut feeling is we’ll draw one of our local ‘rivals’. Bring it on!
-
I'd like Wrexam at home.
I understand why some people don't like them as a kind of Man City / Chelsea of the lower leagues. But even so, I like the documentary and the owners. Most of their players come across pretty well too and Paul Mullin looks like a very decent player.
It would be good to see them live and I'm pretty sure it would be a sell-out. It would be nice for America to see what a proper football ground looks like too.
So long as we don't fuck it up, I can't see many downsides.
-

I think I've spotted the flaw in your plan.
-

Hmm. Thing is, where we are now in relation to them (all) is such that it's a no win situation, result aside. We'd be expected to thrash them, so if we did it wouldn't be all that amazing, and if we didn't it'd be awful.

My hope is relatively easy next round draw, then let's have Man City/Liverpool at home for rounds 5 and 6. Once they're out the way anyone else on neutral ground we'll batter.
-

Well yes, then it would become horrific.
-
Swansea away would be good for me

Liverpool v Man City is the draw I’d like.
Once that’s drawn I’m not too fussed who we get. Away to only balls 30 or 31 would give me a new ground to go to - but getting tickets for any of those would be a challenge.
-
Pretty much 50% chance of getting a Prem team, assuming West Ham and Luton come through their replays and Man Utd beat Wigan. Home draw would be much appreciated.
-
Ipswich away is my prediction.

It's a bit of a distance but it's pretty much a straight drive from Brum, M6 and then A14 pretty well the entire way.
-
I have got a bad feeling it will be the noses away. But that will be cheered when they lose to Hull.
-
Be great to have the Noses away. Good 4500 in the Agbonlahor End. Marvellous.
-
Ipswich away is my prediction.

Dalian.
Was in the home end behind the goal for that game, getting some stick off the locals then we equalised and half the end went up. They shut up then.
-
What time's the draw?
Scheduled for 7.50pm, just before the Yanited game.
-
I am really excited about the draw.
Nervous excitement here. Hoping for the easiest draw possible, so we'll probably get Liverpool or Citeh away.

We were talking about this at the Burnley game the other week, my brother just phoned Ipswich up and ordered the tickets, no questions asked regarding his accent or address. The daft bastards.

i can't remember how we got ours , 4 or 5 of us went, must have paid on the gate or got tickets on the day at the ground as none of us would have been organised enough to phone up ITFC and get them in advance
-
I reckon it'll be the Jawdies away.
-
It will be and we will play them twice in 4 days plus the replay
-
Ipswich away is my prediction.

I have been once, The 80-81 season FA Cup match when Mariner scored and Mortimer sent a sitter over the bar. Took bloody hours to get there
-
The Sun’s super computer has made a mock draw for the 4th round. We got Wrexham away.
-
The Sun’s super computer has made a mock draw for the 4th round. We got Wrexham away.
Do you need a super computer to do it? I reckon I could manage it.
-
I can do it by just sticking some paper into a hat
-
ive commissioned my own supercomputer (my wife) to do the draw and shes come up with this ...sheesh
Liverpool away
Ive switched her off
-
I have used a random number generator and got ball 6, which is West Ham or Bristol City. Get lumping on that!

To make mattters worse,I got lamped at the end when I went past their end just as their nutters were exiting. Only ever time.
-
Oh great, a Spurs 'legend' doing the draw. He's dressed like the father of the bride.
-
Boggies v dog heads - potentially
-
Do I not like this so far...
-
Lot of big teams left in the draw. Getting worried.
-
Chelsea away
-
Fuck off

FFS
-
Haha classic draw for us
-

-
FFS. Means we gave to put some effort in.
-
Gary Mabbutt can fuck right off
-
Liverpool get a bye
-
obviously..
-
Great. Time to get revenge for the 2000 no-show.
-
When is this being played? Between Everton and Newcastle?
-
At least Man City get a difficult draw for a change
I thought they'd drawn Spursy
-
That is an annoying draw.
-
We've won our last 2 visits there, will be funny when we make it 3.
-
Liverpool get a bye
And Yanited.
-
We know how to beat them and we've got a fortnight to rest before, and we'll take a shit load of fans.
Actually, it's not the worst draw.
-
I'm ok with it. They're beatable.
-
Game to nothing for us
And I appreciate there are loads of us who want to win the FA cup
But top 4 far more important given where we are
-
Let’s hope we take the full allocation
-
When is this being played? Between Everton and Newcastle?
Weekend of 27th/28th January
-
Bound to be televised.
-
Great. Time to get revenge for the 2000 no-show.
Can we recall Cam for the game?
-
Could have had an easier tie on paper but if can get past Chelsea quite a few Premier teams will be out for the following round.
-
Bound to be televised.
Might be the Thursday or Friday game
-
I'll be dead before we win this Cup again.

One of Spuds and Citeh will be gone.

I'm crying like the mother of the bride after that draw! :'(

Bound to be televised.
Without doubt.
Plus spurs v Man City
And of course Man U v whoever they ever play.
-
Piece of piss. I'm looking forward to the fifth round draw now.
-
Great. Time to get revenge for the 2000 no-show.

I'm happier having Watkins as he scored in our 2 wins there last year.
-
Piece of piss. I'm looking forward to the fifth round draw now.
Thats the spirit 👍
-
Liverpool get a bye
to be fair the last game wasnt easy
manure draw pissed me off more

Looks like another year of us always being the bridesmaid. :(
-
We have nothing to fear going to Chelsea.
-
We have nothing to fear going to Chelsea.
if we turn up full strength we will beat them
-
Not bad and they've got two semi finals and a local derby against Fulham before we play them. No excuses, let's smash them.
-
Yeah very confident we'll beat them.
-
Tricky, Chelsea only have the domestic cups to play for in what's left of their season, likelihood is they will be in the league Cup final for one. We'll need to go full strength to win.
-
WTF is Roberto Martinez wearing
-
Boggies v dog heads - potentially
No-one on the ITV coverage seemed to pick up.on that one. Too busy talking about Man Yoo I suppose.
-
We've won at Chelsea in the last two away games. They're a mediocre team these days.
-
In the last 12 months they've won 6 home league games, beating the might of Palace, Leeds, Luton, Brighton, Sheff Utd and Palace (again).
We really shouldn't be shitting ourselves about drawing them. They will be far more worried about drawing us.
-
anyway Dybala will get our winner
or maybe Benni McCarthy
we will see
looking forward to it
-
How many Fcukin jammy draws do Manure get? Us all the time, Wigan Eastleigh Fcuk off
-
I'm ok with it. They're beatable.
No, no. They should be wiping the floor with us
-
We can win this. They should be more fucked off than us.
-
How many Fcukin jammy draws do Manure get? Us all the time, Wigan Eastleigh Fcuk off
I'm not one for conspiracy theories but when Easliegh were on the board and the away team was being drawn Mabbut said "I was chasing that around" right before he drew out.....start drumroll....... ta da Manchester United. Just saying.
-
We can win this. They should be more fucked off than us.
They're arrogant feckers so they won't be
-
Chelsea, Spuds/ManC, Liverpool, ManU and then Newcastle then.
-
That's us moved for telly again.

Boggies v dog heads - potentially
No-one on the ITV coverage seemed to pick up.on that one. Too busy talking about Man Yoo I suppose.
Chappers did on 5live.
Started the run through if key ties with Maidstone & Micah Richards just interrupted with how that was a terrible draw and not a key tie at all. Chappers pointed out that as the lowliest team left in the competition it was a key tie whoever they drew and sarcastically asked Micah if it was OK for him to continue. Then when Chappers mentioned the potential Black Country derby he asked Micah if he was ‘allowed’ that one.
Also - Micah & whoever else going on about Eastleigh or Newport v Man U, & Chappers (who is a Man U fan) pointed out that they were both being pretty disrespectful to Wigan.
All v tetchy for a few moments.
It reminded me a bit of when Scott Mills announced he had died as a joke when they were working togather on Radio 1. When Scott Mills mentioned it a few weeks later when Chappers was back on air, Chappers said something like ‘I’d stay quiet about that if I were you as I’d like to remind you it’s now a HR issue’
-
We can win this. They should be more fucked off than us.
Exactly. We are the team nobody wants to play.
-
It’ll be interesting to see here it ends up as we have Newcastle on Tuesday.
-
There was a blatant handball in the build up to the Ipswich goal.
I know!!!!

Chappers?!
-
I reckon it’ll be Friday night with us playing the Tuesday after. Hopefully we take the full 6000.

Sorry - used to listen when it was Scott & ‘Chappers’ on radio 1 many years ago & he’s always that to me.

-
When is this being played? Between Everton and Newcastle?
Weekend of 27th/28th January
As we have Newcastle on Tuesday 31st playin them on Friday 26 would do nicely.
Edit: OK it can't be 26th because Chelsea play Boro second leg of EFL semi on 23/1. So Saturday it will be.
-
I think we will win this and lose to Maidstone after a replay in round 5.
-
Right , that's that going off .
-
As we have Newcastle on Tuesday 31st playin them on Friday 26 would do nicely.
One slight positive is that Newcastle drew Fuham away (rather than a lower league side) so won't be likely to rest players ahead of the game against us. It would be nice if we had an extra day's rest though.
-
Decent draw. They're mid-table dross who we've beaten handily twice on our last two visits. Good 6000 tickets too.
-
Right , that's that going off .
Just did the same 😃

How many Fcukin jammy draws do Manure get? Us all the time, Wigan Eastleigh Fcuk off
I'd like to see some stats over the past 25 years regarding FA Cup draws.
It certainly does not feel jammy, it feels deliberate.
-
Chelsea also have Liverpool away just after us so difficult week for them to squad rotate. They have lots of players but not that many to worry about! I'm confident of at least a draw.

Nothing stopping Chelsea playing Tuesday & Friday - we had that with the Bradford home semi being followed by a Friday night trip to Millwall.

It's preferable to losing.
-
Tricky, Chelsea only have the domestic cups to play for in what's left of their season, likelihood is they will be in the league Cup final for one. We'll need to go full strength to win.
It will be a good test of our credentials and preparation especially for later stages of the Conference. Despite beating teams away from home we've not been that convincing like we are at Villa Park. We all know this team can beat anybody when we click and I'm sure Unai is working on us to ensure we win silverware this season.
It's a tough draw but nothing we can't handle. Having Torres back in defence, Konsa back in central defence, Moreno and Ramsey flying again and we'll be fine. I'm also expecting Diaby to have a great second half of the season.
-
As we are playing Tuesday, when are we likely to play Chelsea?
-
I’m more positive on this one than Boro. We have nothing to fear.
-
As we are playing Tuesday, when are we likely to play Chelsea?
Friday night or Saturday
-
I know it’s a conspiracy, but I think the FA Cup really helps to reinvent Manchester United because they are shit in the league and when that happens they seem to win the FA Cup. The draw gives them a piss easy chance of getting through to the next round whilst the likes of Chelsea play Aston Villa and Tottenham play Manchester City. Getting rid of two of the better sides, poor old Manchester United have to slum it against the side from league two or thereabouts.
-

Yes that’s possible and I hope TV insist on that. It’s a very tricky scheduling task due to a full PL programme on 30/31 Jan.
-
They'll probably make it Saturday giving Chelsea the extra recovery day or worse still Sunday , we then play Tuesday they don't play til Wednesday
-
Chelsea is fine - they are struggling, nothing to fear at all. In fact, prefer that than another away tie against a plucky Championship side.
-
We'd have a chance of a lot more easier draws like Man Utd get if we didn't spend the best part of a decade shitting the bed at the first attempt, often against a side that was an easier draw.
-
Not a good draw but could have been worse

We've had loads of favourable draws, just like Man Utd have had. It's just that we've tended to lose a lot of them. We've probably lost more cup games against lower league clubs than the rest of the bigger clubs combined over the last 30 odd years. Grimsby, Oldham, Bolton, Fulham, QPR, Millwall, Stevenage, Luton, Bradford, Doncaster, Stoke, Leyton Orient. Just off the top of my head.

Opening his wallet for a few thousand of us to get to West London was harmless enough. Unfortunately he left it open and MON could raid it unchecked resulting in an overbloated squad with too many overpaid underperforming passengers. When it all blew up in August 2010 we were consigned to a near decade of decline.

I did think that wasn't as altruistic as was made out at the time. The coaches would have been a few quid but we got a cut of the gate money and having them pick up right next to the club shop didn't do us much harm either.

Very frustrated

Bloody stressful, and I initially had the same issue. Helped that whilst I was logged in on my PC my younger son, who happens to be home from London atm, was also logged into his laptop and shouting out best (corner) block to go for.

Can’t currently see any chance of a member getting an away ticket for any game, don’t get me wrong, the support is amazing to sell out so quick, just disappointing for my own position of not being able to get a ticket
I know it's a pain but keep trying...I'm always surprised at how many returns there are before the day.
I think they only put them back on sale at the same criteria level that they sold out on

Bugger. Might have to try the home end, ugh.
-
People on here are saying they were managing to get 2, 3, or 4 tickets. Does that mean they have more than one ST or is the system allowing them to buy multiple tickets with one ST, even though they made it clear it was one ticket per ST. Can someone clarify?
I got 3 and have 3 season tickets
You have to allocate each ticket to a season ticket holder you can’t buy any further tickets on those same names
-
Managed to get two for me and my lad, was having a panic as they going quick, but got 2 in SU1. Just have to work out whether to train, coach or drive now
-
Refreshed a million times and got 3, not together but I’ll take that
My lads also got a dodgy tummy that day to
It's not until 7.45 and you live an hour away!

Well done Rambo!
Coach is easiest but slowest, obviously! 2.30pm from Villa Park.
I really hope it's a great day for you and your lad!
And the rest of us!!!

Same here, got on at 5pm and got 3 tickets in SU1. We’re going by train to Marylebone. Chiltern do a family ticket for London so for £30 you can get an adult + child (up to age 15) which also includes the tube.

I’m not a season ticket holder but my mate is. He managed to get 3/4 tickets, so I’m one of the bastards who will be going but shouldn’t really be…sorry!

It doesn't affect me one way or the other as I wasn't planning to go, but do you mind me asking how your mate managed to obtain 3/4 tickets?

He’ll be linked in with that number of other season ticket holders on his account.

Effortlessly selling 6,000 tickets as soon as they go on sale, for an AWAY match in the Cup in London, when Small Heath have just scraped only slightly more than that for a home match.

Very pleased for those fans who are normally excluded from away game tickets who have managed to secure tickets to this one . Hope it's a great occasion , result and match.

I’m not one to rush around

I’m also a dab hand at post fails
-
Will be on a train back from London at around half time. Not planned this at all well.
-
If that was stressful, imagine if we get to the Europa final, all logged on trying to get the remaining 1,000 tickets that are for sale to ST Holders

Apologies for a lazy question but is this a replay round or pens?

Replays for this round, one-off matches and penalties after that.

Any suggestions for good places to park? I usually park at the Westfield shopping centre and tube it in but that closes at 9pm.

There is a hospital just down from the ground, good underground car park there and not expensive. Chelsea is one of the easier grounds to drive to and away from as hardly anyone goes by car
-
There are some roads off Brompton cemetery and a nice walk through the gravestones.
-
And you can sing Brompton Oratory by Nick Cave as you do so. It's such a mournful but beautiful song.

No worries, may as well book one for May 25th whilst you're at it. :)
-
For parking , it's the Westminster Hospital on the Fulham Road. If you drive down the road the ground will be on your left if heading east , keep going about 2-300m and the car park entrance is on your right, basement level parking nice and secure and not too expensive .

Anyone else still waiting for the tickets for Chelsea to be delivered ?
I got an email saying they were sent out end of last week
-
I’ve had mine, arrived yesterday.
-
Mine came on Saturday.
-
My match ticket arrived on Friday, still waiting for the coach ticket to arrive.

No VAR for this match.
-
No VAR for this match.
Is that right though ? I know they don't have it tonight but can't see why it wouldn't be in use on Friday.
-
No VAR for this match.
think there is VAR in the FA Cup at grounds that have the system in place
-
I had mine last week
-
No VAR is what is being said all over twitter - I think it's crazy having a competition where different officiating protocols are in place. Apart from anything else, it makes the FA look like a complete joke (again!).
Will we have VAR in the final?

Will we have VAR in the final?
No VAR is the right way otherwise the competition is compromised due to the fact that some ties can not played with VAR. The final will have VAR and that is also correct as at that stage no compromise is involved from other results.

The point being made on twitter was that 6 ties this weekend will have VAR, but our game won't.
The issue here is why not? Chelsea have the setup so why is it not being used? I don't really care, but it could impact our high line and it's certainly showing the FA up to be fools.
-
Like someone has already suggested, leave it out until the later stages if possible. Not having it in our game but in others is a bit weird.
-
Hold on ! I literally just noticed.
Chelsea playing tonight in a SF (Tuesday) and then Friday ??
Bloody hell, that’s brutal.
-
no different from Thu/Sun that we have done all season.
-
We’re going to get fucked over with a goal that VAR would have ruled offside aren’t we?
-
Is it true though re no VAR. the reason there is no VAR tonight is because there couldn’t be VAR at Boros ground last week, so its about treating both legs of the semi final the same.
The FA Cup has been a mess soley in terms of VAR with some games having it and some not, it should be all or nowt, but the FA in their wisdom haven’t gone down this route. So I dont see any reason there would be no VAR Friday, given the FA’s current stance so far.
-
If it's not used I'd be intrigued to know the rationale.
-
Every game this round that is at a PL ground has VAR. Apart from ours. The ties at Bournemouth, Fulham, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton all have VAR.
8 Chelsea v Aston Villa
Referee: Robert Jones
Assistant referees: Ian Hussin & Bhupinder Singh Gill
Fourth official: David Webb

OK, didn’t know that and it is stupid decision. I am all for level playing field all around and knowing how FA cup starts life we should never use officiating technology that is not there when Coleshill Rovers take on Radford Albion in the first qualifying round back in August.

God help us

FA have said they made a mistake. There is VAR.

I have just received in the post 2 coach tickets for Chelsea away
These are not for me, my coach ticket has not arrived, so these 2 tickets have been sent to the wrong address - I have just phoned Villa, who have told me to bring them with me on Friday
The 2 guys tickets are for Coach 1 - and names are Thomas E and Lewis C - I will pass on to the coach driver on coach 1.

The VAR ref John Brooks is my mate's son. They're both Leicester fans. After the Forest v Everton game last season, Steve Cooper complained to PGMOL about him and he hasn't reffed them since.

That's not good, no travelling fan needs that. If I were you I would confront the postie tomorrow and and DEMAND he provides suitable delivery to your liking. If not tell him what you think of Paula Vennells.
I have also made similar arrangements, meeting Chelsea and Arsenal fan friends in the Old Swan in Kensington after alighting the 13.45 from Moor Street to Marylebone.

We haven't lost an FA Cup replay at Villa Park since 1976. That was to Southampton in R3, they went on to win the Cup that season.
Incredibly you then have to go back to 1932 to find the previous home replay defeat, to Portsmouth in R4.

Not sure Wolves fans would agree, Brooks was on VAR when Onana clearly fouled one of theirs and they got nothing. I remember thinking I knew the name when mentioned before and when I looked him up he also got a slap on the wrist for putting the offside line on the wrong player which lead to a Brighton goal being disallowed. Not to say he's a bad official, we all make mistakes. Like most though I couldn't get my head around the Onana one.
-
With that offline line, it was a technician who stuffed up, as the VAR officials don't do it themselves. As the bloke in charge he took the rap though.

Jesus, how many rounds does this thing have? I was under the impression you just played the 3rd round and that was it, now people are talking about there being a 5th round!
World's gone mad.

Time previous to that was something like 1932!

Southampton in 1969 was pretty special, in front of 58,000.

Who scored for us? Dean Glover or one of those non-entity names that you're convinced was a made-up Villa player? I was only 2 so I wouldn't know.

I went to one, late seventies, Palace, at Highfield Road. Might have been the League Cup?

So my tickets never turned up but @avfcsupport on Twitter sorted me two duplicates to collect at the ticket office (which was helpfully located right next to the Shed End). They wanted photo ID from both me and the missus supposedly on instructions from Villa. I had my DL but the wife only had a credit card on her - before we needed to get in a row about the fact I'd paid for both tickets on my card and we were both there so I clearly wasn't selling one on I luckily remembered I had a pic of her passport in my phone from a previous visa application so all was good. Just a warning to others as the two lads at the window next to me didn't seem to be having much joy collecting their tickets. Don't know if they got them in the end.
And a special shout out to Olaftab for saving us seats on the train and company on the way down. Hope you had a good prematch with your mates and got back safely. We made the 10.30 after a bit of a run from Edgware Road to Marylebone. Just need to finish the job in the replay.

I remember that one from years ago but sadly out of date these days. Not surprising when we lose to the likes of Stevenage.

Cooper and Hunt.
I had such high hopes for that midfield.
-
The way I see it, to win the FA Cup we are going to need to beat Manchester City or Liverpool at some stage, and most likely both of them. The best (only realistic?) chance we have of beating them will be at Villa Park, in the 5th/6th rounds. So that's what I'm hoping for in the draw tomorrow, a home tie v either Manchester City or Liverpool.
-
Ooh good draw.

Noice.

Hopefully it's us v Plymouth.

Home draw in last 16 against a lower league team.
We have to be happy with that I think.

Not really. We tend to get knocked out at home versus lower league opponents.

Looking at the draw, it’s wide open. Avoid city United and Liverpool.

Possible tasty draw for Wrexham if they can get past Blackburn.

Let’s hope we can do the business vs Chelsea. We have a chance to get the quarter final but can’t look too far ahead. Chelsea will be a very hard game.
-
Looking like a premier league dominated last 8 to me other than possible Cov
-
they will want a man city/ manure v p l o p final if they can keep their balls cold

Carbone game?

If it hasn't already been mentioned the replay is on Wed 7 Feb 8pm ko, don't know if it's on TV.
-
I wonder how much they'll
rinse charge us for the Chelsea replay. My guess is £38 on the Lower Holte.

Was saying this to my mate on Friday, probably won’t bother on this occasion unless it’s about £20.

Hopefully they’ll learn from the Everton league cup game, i was one of the few mugs that forked out.
-
We haven't lost an FA Cup replay at Villa Park since 1976. That was to Southampton in R3, they went on to win the Cup that season.
Incredibly you then have to go back to 1932 to find the previous home replay defeat, to Portsmouth in R4.
I remember that, I have a memory that Ron brought Charlie Aitken on as a sub, which seemed strange.
Also went on a coach to Southampton for the 1st leg, coaches were not allowed into town too early before the game.
The coach driver an old curmudgeon with a flat cap and stone deaf resisted all exultations to put his foot down and get us there.

And me hence my comment above.

I'd forgotten that, I remember now he got us lost in Southampton and had to ask locals for directions to the ground. We really thought we'd done the hard bit, drawing at their place ......
-
Its not a bad drew for us Leeds or Plymouth.

Yep, get past Chelsea then we should be on course for the QF's

I was there as well. I think Saints equalised in the last minute as well. It was their year.
-
Please please please can we start playing well again and beat Chelsea then Leeds or Plymouth.
-
Anybody know what the ticket details are for the replay yet? Cutting it fine for Wednesday week (7th Feb.)!
-
Has it been confirmed for Weds 7th yet ?
-
Chelsea playing on Sun 4th which rules out the Tuesday.
-
Has it been confirmed for Weds 7th yet ?
Its listed for then on the BBC website https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scores-fixtures/2024-02-07
and on the official website https://www.avfc.co.uk/matches/
-
It needs to be reasonably priced, given there's only 8 days until the game & it's likely to be televised. If they price it wrong it'll be half empty.

Yep get the pricing wrong and it will be another sub 25k just like that Everton game when they refused to release the official attendance figure for weeks .

Me too. Kids were miserable as sin on the way home. I felt bad about what I’d inflicted on them.

Random ask, but is there any jeopardy in not going to this from a booking history point of view? I mean if we win and get a home draw in the quarters then as a ST holder I’ll be offered my seat? I may be forced to miss this because of work…but worried they may base future ticket criterias on home cup tickets…wishful thinking I know…

Good question. I assume FA Cup attendees would have priority, then ST holders

You will always be given first refusal on your seat at home cup ties.

Unless your seat is allocated to away fans.

Overlooked that one. Being in the Holte that doesn’t affect me but for those that it does, when re-allocated do you have to pay the price of a North Stand ticket or the price of wherever you end up? Seems a bit unfair if it’s more.

I’d bet they won’t….my guess will be they’ll price it high, if it’s 2/3rds full it’ll support a narrative on why the North was cancelled.
Hope to be pleasantly surprised :-)
-
Not too sure if the away club have to agree to any ticket pricing cut but we have to price this one sensibly. £20 for adults and a tenner for kids would be my choice.
Having a season ticket I’ve only recently looked at the match day pricing and it was a shock. We aren’t a London club or a club that attracts too many day trippers and I feel we are at the limit of what some will pay. A nice gesture for the Chelsea game would be good.
-
Pretty sure Chelsea have to agree so very little likelihood of it being cheap. They don't do cheap tickets.

Nothing surprises me with football today but that would be a huge mistake. It’ll be another Everton will a full away end and sparse everywhere else.
-
I imagine they'll release ticket info and put them straight on sale tomorrow morning. I doubt they'll do it today with there being a game.
-
Ticket details now on the OS.
-
Pretty sure Chelsea have to agree so very little likelihood of it being cheap. They don't do cheap tickets.
Take a look at the prices….
-
Priced reasonably by the looks of it, they've read the room after the Everton fiasco.
-
Got it spot on this time, think mine will be £27 all in for me and my 13 year old
-
That's fantastic pricing. Fair play to the club for listening.

Where can you see these , they only got forest tickets on the site

Tickets are available on the website from 11am today.

Didn't expect those prices

I'll definitely go now. I would have been less sure if it had been £40+ for another late midweek game.
-
They read the room and speculated to accumulate that winning this game would mean another full house against Plymouth or that other rabble…if TV channels choose next round games before replays they are sure to pick it in the hopes they can jizz themselves stupid about it being Leeds v Chelsea and remember that thuggish cup final early 70’s

There's a lot of traffic on it at the moment, may sort itself out in a bit.
There's an option to upload ticket to your card too.

Yes that is great...happy with that...hopefully do that in the future.

Yeah just spotted the upload to card option before I pressed proceed, good stuff.

Fair play to the club. They’ve listened and have acted. I did somehow miss the upload to your card part though but never mind.

You can still do the NFC thing when you get your ticket though.

I had to DM avfcsupport on twitter an explain that my son is a minor and I buy tickets for him. They had to add him as a strong relationship on my account (he was previously until they messed with it) So I could go online and buy his ticket.
A morning wasted. Sometimes they make it hard for themselves.
-

I opted for the print at home ticket. You can almost bet your last pound that there will be issues with loading the match to your card.
-
Match is live on ITV.
-
I can’t go and therefore have not applied for a ticket. Still got an email today thanking me for my order. Now I’ll spend most of the day trying to talk to someone to cancel.

Yep. Obviously accepted they got the pricing wrong for the League Cup game against Everton and fixed it. Probably have seen the big crowds for the Conference League games with that type of pricing as well.
-

Yes, same for me. Is this the 'cup scheme' rearing it's ugly head again?

that will shave a good few '000's off the gate

Nah, we've priced it accordingly.

I missed out on getting my normal seat in the lower Holte. I'm now in L5 Row JJ. One game won't matter.

I need to give my "Guess The Crowd" guess due consideration, but I reckon high-30s.

I can't find any mention of the Cup Scheme on my online account, but the TO says I'm in it

There was an option when I renewed my ST to go in it. But not thought of it again after that and just bought mine and my mate's tickets as soon as they came up. So maybe we will get two each and both turn up to find ourselves sitting in our seats already!
-
I'm HH seat 111, so say hi if you're near me!
I'm 16 seats away a few rows up then.
-
I make it about 1500-2000 left. This will sell out I reckon
-
Not sure that’s right, I’ve just checked and there’s about 12,000 left.
-
Not sure that’s right, I’ve just checked and there’s about 12,000 left.
wonder if Chelsea have sold all 6000
-
My mistake. They must have released all the season ticket seats not taken up. There are loads left.
-
I’m sure tomorrow nights game if it’s a win will generate a few ticket sales…likewise a defeat will put some off.
Sure Chelsea will sell out most of their allocation at £20 a ticket
That from a season ticket holder who isn’t going…did Tuesday night on crutches and was knackered so will watch this one on the tv
-
Chelsea allocation is 6,298.

I missed out on getting my normal seat in the lower Holte. I'm now in L5 Row JJ. One game won't matter.
I expect Ramsey to score now. 8)

Yes, I got an email as well, is it automatically added to your season card for entry?
-

Changed my seat for this and now in front row just by the side of Away dugout. Lino and Poch will be getting some targeted coaching😃

Really want to go encourage the pricing policy, but put off by the prospect of extra time and penalties, which would mean the kids going to bed after midnight on a school night.
Might propose to them that we leave at ten no matter what and see what they say.

They need to see us dick Chelsea. Your babbies will just be tired the next day. It won't ruin their future lives. FTF!

Loads of tickets left if anyone fancies it.
-
3462 left.
-
Be surprised if chelsea sell out.
-
I really hope we sell out, need the Holte bouncing.
Without wanting to sound all Fred, its time for the waiting list to step up
-
The club should give them away to local schools and colleges if it ain’t going to sell out.
-
Not sure why it needs to sell out.
-
Was trying to think of last time I paid under 20 quid to watch a top quality game at VP, probably around 2005 or 06 when Villa value games in the North stand upper were priced at 15 quid for 3-4 prem matches a season.
Need to go to a networking event in Brum on Wednesday so was going to give this a miss and watch on TV but after seeing Chelsea crumble against Wolves this is too good to miss.
A great night under the lights if we start with the tempo we've managed for majority of home games under Unai I think and the pricing should make it a terrific atmosphere.
-

Kids nowadays. Don't think I went to bed until 1am for that infamous Liverpool game in 2002 that didn't kick off until well after 9pm because they messed up the ticket collections.
Do a snow dance on the walk back to the car and perhaps half time comes a few days early for them!
-
I am in the cup scheme for ST holders.
I have received a ticket confirmation but no e-tickets. I emailed the ticket office who said the match would be automatically uploaded to my ST cards. I am just a bit dubious as they have never done this before.
Any ideas?
-
Yes it should work but before you join the queue locate where the supervisor steward is as you may need him.

It's something that always used to happen. It's in the small print of the ticket prices.
-
When I bought my ticket, I added it to my ST card but cannot find anything anywhere on the email confirmation that it has been added. Is this usual, or am I in line for a trudge to the ever-helpful ticket office?
-
I got e-tickets. I had no idea they're uploadable. That's never appeared as an option for me.

Well if it doesn’t you know what will be used as one of the reasons why the North Stand was cancelled-if the waiting list is to be believed and the consensus is the pricing is fair then there should be a stampede once on general sale :-)

My proposal to leave before the end was met with a steadfast refusal by my daughter (my son just goes along with whatever I say, bless him), so we’ll be watching on the telly. Looks like a sell-out anyway, so I don’t feel bad.

Bus stop or railway station I’m afraid, hence my dilemma.

Chelsea have lost some of their gravitas in the eyes of young fans now. I think they were more impressed by us dicking Brighton.

Yes it would be helpful given the pricing. Fans rightly pointed out the Everton debacle was down to pricing. It would send a better message to the Board if this sold out.

Absolutely, that Everton pricing was mad & greedy

Would like to get through this replay and play Leeds. Our games against them always seem to be a bit heated. Proper FA Cup tie atmosphere.
-
Down to 739 available now.
Nah, it's more than that. They must have released loads of Terrace View seats (although they're still trying to sell TV). Looks like 1,200 or more left.

Yeah, when I checked about 11 it was up above 900, so guess they've dumped a load more in.
-
1132 left. With 1000 extra segregation, you're looking at 40,000 still.
-
I also wonder how many people seem to have gotten a ticket automatically on the cup scheme they didn't want and returned it?

edit - yep, just checked, Feb '88 beat them 5-2

I'm sad enough to remember it as it was only my 2nd game, but it's quite surprising we haven't played them in a cup game since then.

Is Tommy Tynan still banging them in for them?

When did we last play them?
27.02.1988 Villa 5 Plymouth 2
I think I was at that one.

Its interesting the top prediction for how far Villa will progress in FA Cup comes out as 35% of forecasting posters say we will lose to Chelsea
32% say Villa will get to Quarters
14% say Semis
14% say Winners
5% beaten finalists.
-
When did we last play them?
To guess I’d say late winter/early spring of 88 in the old division one. I remember we beat them 5-2 that day, and Platt got a couple, maybe Birchie got one? The promotion charge was on.
Maybe played them in a cup since but i dont recall any?

I remember Tony Daley playing a horrendous back pass early on which put their striker clean through to put them 1 up.

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going home for a couple of hours of napping before dinner and heading to the ground, so I should be in tip-top, peak condition to focus and demand more of myself, and to be better today than I have been before.
