Not what I expected, a little concerned by the back 5.
-
Donk in defence should be 'interesting'.
-
Not nearly as much rotation as I thought. maybe the plan is to smash them early and then bring on subs.
-
Looks like a pretty strong Everton line-up as well, although not sure how many of them are in their normal starting 11.
-
Donk at the back is an odd one.
-
I never know what to think or expect with these makeshift teams.
It is what it is !
-
Torres at left back?
-
I don't mind the team apart from Donk in defence. I know we'd all prefer Emi in goal but he's going to be rested now and again.
-
Torres at left back?
I'd have hoped Unai was now realising we perform best with players in their preferred positions.
-
Come on Villa!
(trying to work enthusiasm about being out in the wind and rain, hoping it won't be an evening wasted...)
-
We’ll still win.
DCL to go off injured within 30 minutes
-
Decent Everton side, dangerous front 3.
-
I basically don't understand the team! Let's see what happens.
-

straightforward 4-4-2
-
That's a stronger lineup, overall, than the Legia one. I think.
Chambers and Lenglay not even on the bench 😬

Yes, Inwonder if they permanently marked their cards last Thursday. Good to see Diego back.

I expected to see Chambers purely because he was on the graphic on the club website. Maybe he's injured. Or his mum works in the social media department .
-
Donk at right back. He plays at centre half in a 3 for Belgium, or he did in the World Cup at least. Cashy at left back?
-
According to a website called TBR Football Villa should" unleash" Aaron Ramsey tonight. Nice to know these people are on the ball.
-
Chambers and Lenglay not even on the bench 😬
saving them for Saturday :D
-
We’ve gone a bit space jazz with the defensive selection.
-

That's just made me realise Jacob isn't in the squad at all.
-
I see the defence as this
Cash Dendonker Konsa Torres
-
Carlos and Traore both back in the squad.
-
Olsen is one name that'll be discussed in post match
-
Good to see big Jhon starting.
-
Fair shout to Unai. He has realised we just don't win cup games - so he picked a back line to ensure we get this over and done with as quickly as possible and can focus on the important things like what badge to have this week, or whether wet suits make good attire for a footballer
-
I'm not overly familiar with Everton's squad. What kind of lineup is it they're sending out. Do they want to win?
-

it’s pretty strong for them, the fact they have Kelvin Injury starting suggests they are taking this very seriously.

same as every week a crap one with crap tactics to match

I hope UKR doesn't read the match thread or he might post a link to some. :(
-

No Ramsey
He took a knock on Sunday on his ankle.
-
It’s an impressive bench!!
The team’s fine, considering the whole squad and getting individual players their first hand experience to carry us through the season. We’ve got goals in there!
I don’t care about Everton’s choices, as I have no idea about their options 😄
-
I'm not sure I'm (55) target audience Nathan Dawe's pre-match entertainment......
-
I basically don't understand the team! Let's see what happens.
straightforward 4-4-2
It could be, but who's playing where? And it could also be 3-5-2 conceivably.
You're probably right, but it's a strange one.
-
Our starting 11 are all internationals.
-
I am confused why we aren't using the game to get some consistency with a settled back four.
Bringing in a player who has barely played at all, never mind at CB & pushing Torres to LB, where he looked shaky as fuck, seems very odd to me.
Hopefully I am given a lesson by the end of the game...
Would be nice to see a bit of Kellyman some time in the game.
-
Carlos and Traore both back in the squad.
suprised with that . That is good news

I think the trouble is that, given the game coming up, the back four will be doing as much running as everyone else, and it'll be vital that they're 100% ready to go to compete with Mitoma et al.

I think we'll have now tried every single possible defensive combination and formation, so going forward we will only use the good ones and concede very rarely.
-
No Ramsey ??
-
No Ramsey ??
Hope he hasn't gotten injured again.
-
I'm not sure I'm (55) target audience Nathan Dawe's pre-match entertainment......
No excuse, Duncan. Percy's twice your age and he loves it.
-

It got better right after I posted that!!

Ha!
-
No Ramsey ??
Hope he hasn't gotten injured again.
I posted earlier - if you remember from the Chelsea game he took a bad knock on his ankle just after he came on. He played through it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was swollen badly after the game.

Which means the only one who would be 100% would be Digne...
I accept what you are saying as an explanation & see some logic in it, but I have still have questions, lol...
I think its probably early enough in the season not to have to worry too much about tiredness & a solid consistent back four is important to get them all used to playing together in Emerys system & help eradicate some of those errors that have haunted us so far this season when playing someone half decent...
But hopefully we win both games & my words are rammed back down my throat... 👍
-
One more time for old times sake.....
15 mins before kickoff and 12,929 tickets remain.
-
Donk at the back is an odd one.
Played there for Belgium at the WC I think as part of a 3. Looks like a back 4 tonight though. Good to have Carlos back involved.
-
That's a stronger lineup, overall, than the Legia one. I think.
Chambers and Lenglay not even on the bench 😬
No Ramsey
That was my first thought.

SJM left back?
-
SJM left back?
Looks like it.
-
Looks like McGinn is at LB.
-
Any rivers ??
-
Any rivers ??
If anybody could let me have one as well if they have one.
-
Decent few mins
-
brilliant surge mcginn, like a roberto carlos
-
Played Robin
-
Torres at left back?
I'd have hoped Unai was now realising we perform best with players in their preferred positions.
Send in yer application!
-
Fuck off
-
Interesting starting XI.
-
Turd
-
Trying to play possession at the back and Olsen, sigh.
-
That all started from Olsen
-
Caught in our own final third. Pathetic
-
Oh.
-
Not surprising
-
Oh dear.
-
Fannying about. Fucking useless!
-
That wasn’t coming was it??
-
That all started from Olsen
I thought Dendonker's overly heavy pass left him in a bad spot that time. He didn't recover well or anything but not all his own doing.
-
Olsen risky again picking that up from Donk
-
We have a problem when back up players get involved.
-
Can we please just put someone in goal who looks like they've seen a football before and knows how to kick one?
-
STOP. FUCKING. ABOUT. AT. THE. BACK. YOU. TWATS.
-
Everton goal
https://twitter.com/tekkersfoot/status/1707108075671277693
-
Oh great. Like the old days. Fuck the cups.
No win under Unai thus far
-
Olsen looks like a death mask.
-
Oh great. Like the old days. Fuck the cups.
No win under Unai thus far
Hibs?
-
Villa fans outsung too.
-
Brilliant from Olsen ,,,,,,,,,
-
James Garner? He's done well for someone dead this past 10 years.
-
Oh great. Like the old days. Fuck the cups.
No win under Unai thus far
Hibs?
Ha yes. Fair point.
-
You think they would've learned a lesson after Warsaw....
-
Rockfords piles this is.
-
I have no clue why on earth we’ve persevered with Olsen absolutely no idea
-
There’s a real recruitment gap here. Olsen isn’t great but we’re setting him up to fail.
-
This is shit, if they can’t be arsed in the cups no wonder the ground is half empty.
-
Might put the mortgage on Pickford getting booked for time wasting
-
I am so tired of talking about a backup goalkeeper.
-
We're going out of this cup tonight - this will be the game where we can't break the opposition down.
hopefully proved wrong. :)
-
We'll still win this.
-
We'll still win this.
We just need to roll up our sleeves and find that bit of magic.
-
Need one back quickly or Everton will just drop even deeper and foul anything that moves.
-
We'll still win this.
Yep, the worst thing that can happen to a Dyche side is going ahead too early. We know this too well.
-
All of my rivers have either frozen or playing a live American chat shows.
-
Anyone know what channel this might be on?
-
No chance of Everton being 'stretched' if we are as slow as a Swiss glacier in 'transition'.
-
We don’t seem to have a clue
-
No chance of Everton being 'stretched' if we are as slow as a Swiss glacier in 'transition'.
This was my thinking - we had a chance of breaking there but opted to slow it right down. It'll take some getting used to I guess!
-
Tielemans looks like he's playing for the dads at Butlins.
-
I don’t really care if we win this or not. I’m not there tonight for that reason.
-
Bailey down.
-
We keep chipping possession away really tamely. Really annoying.
-
I don’t really care if we win this or not. I’m not there tonight for that reason.
The club dont really care if we win this or not. I’m not there tonight for that reason.
-
Bailey going off.
-
Bailey down.
There's a shock
-
Bailey down.
It's only a sweaty shirt Leon.
-
Bailey is fucked.
-
Are we gonna stay at ten men, or is someone coming on?
-
Zaniolo coming on
-
Zaniolo coming on
-
Donk and Tielemans, WAY too lazy. Can't even jog into space to get some decent possession going through the middle.
-
Tielemans looks like he's playing for the dads at Butlins.
I thought his name was Barkley
-
Donk and Tielemans, WAY too lazy. Can't even jog into space to get some decent possession going through the middle.
Tielemans seems a couple of games away from a Jan loan
-
Jesus Christ. This is shit
-
Why are our subs in their slippers and dressing gowns? Can't they have their boots on in case they are called upon?
-
More fannying about. Wankers.
-
Fannying around in our own penalty area
-
Turgid, no urgency at all.
-
We persist with playing ourselves into trouble.
-
All fart and no shit from what I’m seeing
-
We'll still win this.
We just need to roll up our sleeves and find that bit of magic.
Is that you Stevie? 👀
-
Got to admit our B-team are as strong as a wank tissue.
* or should that be “is as strong”
Not sure. I’ve had wine.
-
All fart and no shit from what I’m seeing
Barely any fart.
-
I think the biggest problem is Tielemans.
-
How much do these trouser every week for playing like Weebles on ice? FFS!
-
All a bit shite so far
-
I dont understand why we didnt buy any fullbacks or give the young ones a chance.
-
We'd be fairly comfortable but for our defence constantly inviting pressure.
-
Everton are utter wank, created fuck all, although that's not a problem as we're doing it for them.
-
Another black mark against Emery's boast that he wanted to win a trophy with us.
-
It's fair to say some of the backup players are struggling badly so far.
-
I, for one, am shocked to see a weakened Villa team go out of the cup
-
We're using these cup games for experimenting with the line-up! Should've gone strong from the start.....
-
this is a tad boring
-
Tielemans has been garbage every time he has played for us thus far.
Zaniolo looks OK though.
-
Tielemans is a mess
-
Great save Olsen
-
Tielemans ffs
-
It's not even half time yet 😂
We'll win 3-1.
-
Have we had a shot?
-
Anyway…
Whilst the game is shite, I’m celebrating losing 3 1/2 stone of weight and hitting my target weight today.
Hence the wine.
I need the wine to watch this pile of cow dung
-
Tielemans has been garbage every time he has played for us thus far.
Zaniolo looks OK though.
Tielemans is awful.
-
Jesus CHRIST lads!
-
Ffs 😂😂😂
-
Tielemans is starting to have a bit of a whiff of being a less skilful Curcic.
-
Fuck me this is bad.
-
What the fuck are we doing?
-
Fucking hell! Key Market Kops!
-
Another save from Olsen.
-
Did that hit the post or Olsen save? Great save if so.
-
Anyway…
Whilst the game is shite, I’m celebrating losing 3 1/2 stone of weight and hitting my target weight today.

I need the wine to watch this pile of cow dung
We'll done!!
How do you about a run out second half
-
Tielemans is a mess
Tielemans looks like bad value for money, which for a Bosman is saying something.
-
We’re chucking another trophy down the drain here. 27 years and counting.
-
Olsen save again
-
This is embarrassing.
-

I’m up for it. Can’t be any worse surely?
-
Brilliant save by Olsen
-
They're just starting to boss this and make their own chances. Hopefully we can stop providing for them.
-
:(
Tielemans is a mess
He is on his way to retirement and we are paying.
-
A wretched team, bruised with adversity.
-
We're throwing this game.
-
Great save Olsen - this is fucking woeful. No intensity again.
-
Was that offside can't tell
-
That first one was Olsen's best save for Villa yet, with his face.
-
Donk. Awful.
-
Is Olsen our best player so far?
-
Despite the goal Olsen is contender for our MOTM so far, which says it all.
-
Havent seen us play this badly since last Thursday
Our "squad" is awful. Or at least what happens when we rotate is awful
-
Average at best - squad players looking like shite
-
Digne will have to come on at left back. McGinn's efforts there are an all time low.
-
We look lethargic and completely disinterested.
-
Dendonker's flick. Why fucking do that.
-
Things I never want to see: Dendonckor trying a backheel.
-
Get Kellyman on, this sounds woeful and in need of someone skilful with a point to prove.
-
This is shite. Proper shite.
-
This is Steve Bruce stuff
-
We'd look better with Watkins on the pitch, holds the ball up better.
-
Jesus fucking Christ, even Lambert would have been embarrassed to serve this shit up.
-
We'd look better with Watkins on the pitch, holds the ball up better.
He wouldn't have had a single touch of the ball though.
-
Are the shirts particularly heavy?
-
This feels like watching extended highlights of Everton's best moments on their website the next day.
-
This is Leyton Orient 2014 levels of shit so far.
-
Are the shirts particularly heavy?
They’re a weight on some.
-
I’ve never known us a deliver a decent second string performance in 20 years
-
Least entertaining wet T-shirt contest of all time.
-
Are the shirts particularly heavy?
They’re a weight on some.
They are definitely all touching cloth, which can make you feel heavy.
-
Tielemans reaction time is like watching a diplodocus turn into an X Box.
-
Finally a decent ball, Duran smacks it into the Holte.
-
A glass of 2015 Rioja Reserva here. And why not? This game is about as interesting as me trying to hang the new curtain rail.
So has anyone else got anything dull to achieve that might be more interesting than this game?
-
Emery does not give a shit about domestic cup competitions. I love the bloke but this pisses me off massively
-
Does Dendoncker usually run as if he's just shat himself?
-
Duran. Top tier of the Holte
-
Anyway…
Whilst the game is shite, I’m celebrating losing 3 1/2 stone of weight and hitting my target weight today.
Hence the wine.
I need the wine to watch this pile of cow dung
Congrats.
Enjoy the wine... 👍
-
Outfought and outplayed by a poor Everton team so far, can't be this bad in the second half surely?
-
They don't know what they're supposed to be doing.
-
Tonev on! Wahey!
-
Another decent ball. Gotta grasp these straws.
-
Slow and ultimately toothless football. Why are we so negative this year?
-
Are the shirts particularly heavy?
They’re a weight on some.
Hopefully they could land on Everton and er, disturb their rhythm.
-
Tielemans and MGinn down the left hand side is poor.
both out of position, both looking lost.
-
Best move .poor finish
-
I've suddenly got Turkish commentary. I like how he's saying 'Matty Cash'.
-
HT
-
Some boos at HT. I know it was very shit but that seems pretty harsh after the run we've been on.
-
Can someone explain what we trying to do here this evening?
-
48 mins of absolute wank.
Tielemans is piss and dendonker is cock
-
Some boos at HT. I know it was very shit but that seems pretty harsh after the run we've been on.
No not harsh. Each game is an individual moment in time.
-
Good from Pau.
Bloody hell absolutely diabolical. As soon as we rotate and/or go behind it is like someone has just let the air out of us.
-
Not nearly as much rotation as I thought. maybe the plan is to smash them early and then bring on subs.
So much for that plan.
-
Can someone explain what we trying to do here this evening?
avoid a good cup run
-
HT. Am I in earth, in heaven, or in hell?
-
A glass of 2015 Rioja Reserva here. And why not? This game is about as interesting as me trying to hang the new curtain rail.
So has anyone else got anything dull to achieve that might be more interesting than this game?
Writing an article about non phloem mobile nutrient behaviour in almonds, its contribution to shell seal breakdown in non pareil varieties in California and agronomic strategies to reduce it. Pretty dull and been avoiding it all day, but might help ease the boredom of the game.
Garbage.
-
Brian Little expects changes in second half
-
I have to go for a shit at half time and I think that's the best I can say about that half.
-
It’s just so casual and half arsed. It is pointless trying to draw a team in if you’re so slow and aimless once you’ve done that.
-
Some boos at HT. I know it was very shit but that seems pretty harsh after the run we've been on.
No not harsh. Each game is an individual moment in time.
I wouldn't have bood. But I'm not there cos I couldn't be bothered. So not sure if that makes me a better fan or not.
-
Emery does not give a shit about domestic cup competitions. I love the bloke but this pisses me off massively
Couldn't disagree more. Unai does all the work for this group. Tells them where they need to be, when they need to be there and what needs to be done. It's the personal skill level and effort of a couple of these donkey's that don't seem to understand that their job is on the line.
Get Tielemans off, he's making a fool of himself. So nonchalant, uninvolved and wasteful. Dendoncker not far behind - what the hell is he thinking half the time. He runs like his spine is fused together.
-
Remarkably bad actually! Really incredibly poor.
Olsen's been fine with his hands but his feet continue to give me bad dreams.
McGinn has veered between looking like a natural and a rank amateur in his position.
Donk started well but faded badly.
We've barely got the front two or Zaniolo into the game - they know they're allowed to pass to them right?
Tielemans...I don't know man. Not so much a poor man's Maddison as a destitute hobo's Kai Havertz. I don't know what he does, but I know he does it badly.
I hope Unai throws things at them.
-
Obviously Unai is the greatest human ever, but what the utter fuck made him think that it might be worthwhile to see what John McGinn is like at left back?
-
I’ve never known us a deliver a decent second string performance in 20 years
I just said the same. Play a weakned team...lose.
Rinse and repeat.
-
A glass of 2015 Rioja Reserva here. And why not? This game is about as interesting as me trying to hang the new curtain rail.
So has anyone else got anything dull to achieve that might be more interesting than this game?
Sadly I did my corporation tax return this afternoon...
-
I think the problem is now very clear, our 'game' is based on a minimum degree of intensity. When we drop below that we look awful. It's happened 5-6x since Emery came in now.
-
Does Dendoncker usually run as if he's just shat himself?
Yes . Run Forrest Run
-
Obviously Unai is the greatest human ever, but what the utter fuck made him think that it might be worthwhile to see what John McGinn is like at left back?
Every why hath a wherefore.
-
Very, very poor from Tielemans. We’ve got to get Digne on at half time, Mcginn back in midfield and Tielemans off.
-
I'm only watching sky sports coverage and it sounds utter pish. Come on Unai sort it out please.
-
Finished last 5 mins or so ok but fault lies with Emery here more than the players. That team is an absolute mess. McGinn left back! Tielemans can't play the role on the left ahead of him either. Likes of Duran and Donk have been woeful too but hard to shine in such a mess of a team. Fortunate we aren't further behind.
Get Digne on for starters at left back. 4231 with McGinn on the right, Zaniolo centre and Diaby left.
-
McGinn has many good qualities , but being a left back isn’t one of them
-
Before they scored I thought we looked pretty good, without creating much. I thought I couldn't remember watching 2 sides in the same division look so mismatched. Then Olsen started putting his defenders under pressure and its like the whole side crumbled. Everton obviously got their tails up too and the best thing I can say is that at least we're not 2 or 3 down.
Duran, for all his potential, and I hope he bags a couple to make me eat my words, doesn't look ready to lead the line for whole games. I'm also a bit disappointed in our inability to get Diaby into recent games. Hopefully we can sort it in the second half.
-
Tielemans reaction time is like watching a diplodocus turn into an X Box.
I quite like my "Tielemans has all of the pace & mobility of a 357 year old oak tree" piss poor attempt at a little gallows humour, but I think that one may just be my new favourite... 😂
-
Ooh a good round of boos at HT for the Lower Grounds advert.
-

If he gave a shit he’d never play Olsen (not that this is all down to him, as surely we can score some goals). Anyone with eyes and a brain know he’s a liability. But hey it’s the norm to play the backups in this competition

He made two very important saves.
-
This is Steve Bruce stuff
Bruce would be (and frequently was) hammered for serving up dreadful performances like this. Emery shouldn't be getting away with it regardless of his record so far.
-
HT. Am I in earth, in heaven, or in hell?
purgatory?
-

I thought we were clueless and just playing it around without any meaningful plan.
-
Looks like Digne and Watkins at half time from the warm up.
-
Second best and lucky to be only 1-0 down at half-time. Olsen poor in the lead up to the goal and then beaten at his near post. McGinn all over the place at left-back, Bailey was desperate to get off the pitch the minute we went 1-0 down, Tielemans can't keep the ball in midfield and we just seem content stroking the ball around the back with no urgency at all.
Looks like Watkins and Digne are coming on at half-time.

If he gave a shit he’d never play Olsen (not that this is all down to him, as surely we can score some goals). Anyone with eyes and a brain know he’s a liability. But hey it’s the norm to play the backups in this competition
Exactly. I love the bloke but he's a fucking piss taker playing that prick in goal. Three domestic cup games abs he's chucked every one
-
Well, it can't be any worse second half, can it.
Can it?
I would expect us to come out of the blocks pretty quickly second half, and a few changes on about 55 minutes if it's not had the desired effect.
-
I'll say this about Unai though - how many really good performances have there been this season? We've been abysmal in every defeat, and going through the wins, we dismissed Everton in third gear, Burnley were their own worst enemies (and very solid relegation candidates), Hibs were out of their depth, we showed spirit against Palace but didn't create much until a wondergoal and a penalty, we survived some hairy moments against a genuinely terrible Chelsea side before winning 1-0 with a man advantage...
I mean I'm not exactly complaining about winning, I promise. I just don't really remember the last time I watched us and thought 'damn, that was top drawer material'. We seem to struggle very badly to get the ball out of our own half and look outnumbered in midfield all the time, like a classic 4-4-2 problem vs. 4-3-3. You can't say it's been excellent, and when it's been bad it's been abhorrent.

Don't know why he just didn't drop Donk back to CB after 10-15 mins and move Torres over to the left. Leaving McGinn there was cruel.
-
I know it's early days but I can't help feeling we've dropped a bollock signing Tielemans.
I refuse to blame Dendonker for being poor at centre back, as how bad must Chambers and Lenglet be in training for hime to be selected in the first place.

We are not great coming from behind to be fair. One thing Duche does is organise his resources

I agree with this. We've picked up results without looking like getting close to the performances of the end of last season. Its a good habit to get into don't get me wrong, but when we've come unstuck, we REALLY do come unstuck.
-
Might have been covered earlier, but where is Moreno tonight?
-
Obviously Unai is the greatest human ever, but what the utter fuck made him think that it might be worthwhile to see what John McGinn is like at left back?
Every why hath a wherefore.
Comedy of Errors -

Villa at the end of last Season was much, much better then anything we have seen this season

That’s gotta be a record for Watkins. Booking inside a minute
-
Second best and lucky to be only 1-0 down at half-time.
With respect, nonsense.
-
That’s a dumb booking Ollie.
-
As much as people slate Digne, he is really our only choice back there until Moreno is fully fit. I dread to think what happens if he picks up a knock at some point.
-
Olsen making my sphincter pucker
-
Patterson booked.
-
Free kick in a decent position

We're doing well to get through without 4 key players though in Mings, Moreno, Ramsey and Buendia. The first three of those arguably were the key to our form at the end of last year.
-
Watkins, what a prick.
-
Daft of us to release Young, but that's been done to death on here. A lot by me.
-
0-2 DCL, our fault. Again.

No idea why ollie did that .just wasting time for us

This is dire. How the fuck has Emery won so many cups in Europe?!
-
I don’t get it? I really don’t get it.
-
Tielemans.
Tielemans.
-
Another deeply pathetic goal.
Can we fire Tielemans?
-
'Tis time, I think, to trudge, pack and be gone.
-
Ffs 0-2. How easy was our high line breached there? Same as Chelsea on Saturday but we got away with it.
-
Tielmans through ball
-
Our 2nd string are as weak as a kitten pissing on a pillow
-
Just blow the whistle ref. Game over.

Better than him risking a red and a ban. It's not like we have a mass of options to replace him.

Bloody hell.

Fucking useless twat
-
Unlucky Diaby. More promising.

Diaby chance. About time

Better from Tielemans.

That was absolutely shite. Really sloppy.

Great save Pickford.

Tielemans and Konsa fucking hell. So fucking half arsed again.

Tielemans wouldn't even get into the Leicester squad these days.
-
Wtf was that tielmans
-
GET TIELEMANS OFF.
-
That is the I don’t give a fuck pass.
-
League Cup is shit anyway...
-
What was it Tielmans was bleating on about a few weeks ago? You’re shite mate.
-
I enjoyed it when we won the league cup in 1996. But o should have realised at the time it was completely irrelevant and we can willingly get knocked out of it time and time again, even though you have to only win three games to get into the semi final. Great days.
-
As a few said, when a player decides to throw the towel in, you have to question his temperament.
-
Things are going well in the hunt for our first trophy for 27 years I see
-
Imagine paying top whack to watch this
-
This lot are so shite we can get back into this.

It is strange how they can be so good in the league and so bad in the cups.

Yes, they are. Need a bit of application.

I want to go back to last season. I was happy then.

I just think the way we play is so dependent on a strong, settled defence and we have had that for about half an hour this season.
-
We haven't always hit the heights yet this season but only 4 times in PL era have we taken more points after 6 games than we have this season.
-
I'd like us to get back into it if only to shut up that weird Everton song its really annoying, sadly we look way off it.
-
And at the same time Newcastle second string holding City and now going for the win.
Those fuckers going out would mean we'd have as good a chance as anyone if we could sort this out.
Typical.
-

Man City players clearly rattled by having to get the bus back later. My heart goes out to them.
-

Injuries have badly affected this season. Despite this, we've done very well to win 4 out of 6 games and sit in 6th place.

agree but we are no where near the level of the end of last season.

So with our injuries this season, Unai deciding early on to reduce the amount of fixtures we have to play midweek?
-
I can move faster than Tielemans
Tielemans has been moaning about not getting any game time........

Olsen save.

Looks like Graham Linehan stood behind Dyche.

Is it a 'mentality' thing. Unai plays our strongest X1, players think, Unai wants to win this. Unai plays weakened team, players think, Unai not arsed if we win tonight.
This rotation lark will take some getting used to for players and fans alike!!
-
Tarkowski booked.
-
DCL giving our CBs plenty of it too. Real lack of presence there without Mings

Debatable, way he has played we would be looking at paying half his wages or more whilst on loan in Turkey.
-
Looks like Graham Linehan stood behind Dyche.
Explains their weakness in transitions.
-
And Newcastle score.....

That would imply that players think of themselves as being weaker or second string, which would be a problem in itself.
-
I’m only half watching this now.
Has it improved at all?

And Newcastle score.....
Dirty Murdering ******.

Doesn't seem to be an issue at most other sides in our league position when they have played "weakened" teams. Although there is "weakened", and then there is deliberate sabotage which he seems to be doing by playing two midfielders in defence, including a right sided attacking player as Left Back.
-
This is truly dismal.

How are we playing?

Beto will cause us some problems

Cash isn't good enough.

This has been piss poor, just tell the support we don't want to win any cups and save us a few bob
-
How are we playing?
Up n down
-
Newcastle have made it a cup tie - ironically so have we - because we always lose those.
-
Newcastle 1 Citeh 0
-
Think Luiz just giving the ball away under no pressure shows what our mentality is like tonight.
-
Unai says he wants to win a cup with us. Man, he's got a really odd way of showing it.
-
Who gives a fuck what Newcastle do?
-
Not only are we out the cup, we've fucked ourselves for Saturday.
-
Unai says he wants to win a cup with us. Man, he's got a really odd way of showing it.
Bar Olsen and possibly Duran, every player who started should expect to be in contention for the first team every week.
-
Should just have played all the kids if we really weren’t bothered about winning this.
-
It's that bad, it looks like a fixed game - like we are intending to lose
-
How are we playing?
Trying to be competitive in our way, with the fans. Always we need our strikers' goals, facing the match trying to be consistent in 90 minutes.
-
Who gives a fuck what Newcastle do?
Yeah why aspire to our team having the same drive and will - let's just enjoy being shit eh?
-
Not only are we out the cup, we've fucked ourselves for Saturday.
Why?
-
I''d rather we won but if we don't I'm perfectly happy for Newcastle and the other teams around us to have a couple more fixtures to fit in.
-
If this stays as it is then a number of players need to have a fucking look at themselves and decide if being a professional footballer is the career they are suited for.
-
How are we playing?

I'm afraid he needs calling out over his claim that he wants to win a trophy. The team selection and the mentality of all the cup matches we've played under him do not stock up and he's making himself look very foolish and a lying sod

How is if we get a manager who is a cup specialist who does largely really badly with us in cups?
Because you need proper depth to be competitive in four competitions, and when you have a manager that puts his faith in rotational players to at least put forth a decent effort - you end up with the Youri Tielemans of the world stealing a living and giving the opposition breakaways.
-
Cash trying the one in a million and ends up on his face as the ball ends up in the crowd.
-
We have Mings, Buendia, Morena, Ramsey all injured. We are bedding in new players. It isn't the end of the world in the context of the best 11 months we have had since 2009.
