Two keepers on the bench again does rather tell its own story about our January window.
Nevertheless, it's a decent team that looks pound-for-pound better than theirs, I'd say.
-
Interesting Digne is first choice. Win please.
-
2 keepers again. Digne back in, despite Emery saying ‘who?’ at his presser.
-
Two keepers, FFS, what on earth is the point of that? At least put a youth player on the bench who you might need to call on, or who you can throw on for 30 minutes if we're 3-0 up.
-
Assuming that Duran's in because Steers still injured?
-
Where is Moreno?u
-
I don’t get the two keeper thing.
-

I'm not sure what it says. Kadan Young has bene on the bench regularly since the WC and is available so if it was just about lack of numbers you'd still have him ahead of Sinisalo.
I wonder if it 's because Emery likes the look of him and wants to get him used to the 'experience' with us but doesn't want to put the pressure on him potentially having to come into the team if Martinez gets a knock

I don’t get that at all. I wish someone in the media would ask him because there is literally no need for it. If you don’t trust Olsen that you need to add the kid, don’t put him in the squad and add another player.
-

I think their forward options are better than ours. I'd rather have Maddison and Barnes than Buendia or Bailey.

Sinisalo is a youth player!

Surely he can just sit in the dugout without having to waste a space in the squad? It's madness.
-
They look very attacking. Of course Maddison starts for the first time in ages.
-

Sinisalo is a youth player!
I know that. They key part of that is "...who you might need to call upon". When has a team ever needed three goalies in a squad?
-
Where is Moreno?u
On the bench.

Is it though? We had Kadan Young on the bnech for weeks and never saw him play so I'm not sure this is all that different.
If Emery wants to use 1 spot on the bench as a way of rewarding players for training well (or similar) then it's fine by me, even if it looks a bit weird.
-
Not surprised Digne is starting, Moreno was poor against Southampton, hopefully Duran will get some game time.
-
I can't help but feel that, had we signed Guendouzi or whoever, they wouldn't be coming into *that* squad for Matty Cash, say.
-
I guess he rates Sinisalo and wants to integrate him into the squad, although he doesn't quite trust him yet. Maybe he will be our number 2 goalie next year. Bench looks pretty good actually, although pity K.Young isn't on it.

Agree with this but we might need an additional outfield player on the bench when play Dyche's Everton.

Exactly, our U21s haven't played for over a week and don't have their next game until Friday so every single one of them would be available for this game and we know a fair few have been training with the first team so this is a choice Emery has gone with, not something he's doing just to fill the bench.
-
I thought Leicester had key players out injured-one definitely being that fucker, Vardy.
Looking at their team and subs bench, who do they have out? And there is that fucker Vardy on the bench.
I hate this game. Please win, Villa.
-
Maybe K Young played earlier for the U18
-

Nope, wasn't in the team or on the bench for them.

Maybe blooding him as back up keeper next year

Injury then
-
So our only bit of transfer business was a left back, and yet we start the old one, then put two keepers on the bench. What a truly shit transfer window January was.

Just too come back to this, if you have any interest https://twitter.com/academyavfc is well worth following, gives updates on the loanees as well.

Interesting Digne is first choice. Win please.
Leicester playing with wingers, I'd fancy Digne to deal with the threat better than Moreno who still looks like he's finding his feet and his strengths are more attacking then defending. For me it's a good call.
-

It's bollocks. Every player on the pitch should be able to come on and make a difference. There's a reason teams don't put two goalies on the bench, just like there's a reason they don't leave themselves with only one senior striker.
-

And a centre-forward.

Arsenal lost ,still a chance for the title

I agree, I’m one who rates Digne.

Maybe Sinisalo is that player.
-
Emery knows what's doing of course, but the 2 keeper thing is kind of weird. I can't be arsed to look, but wonder whether any other coach does it.
-
Maybe it's his way of saying he knows Olsen is shit and needs replacing.
-
I really dont like the 2 GK subs, as I see it there are only three reasons why we have 2 keepers on the bench
1) Unai thinks it is more likely we will need to sub the GK twice, then one of our youth players being able to make an impact
2) Unai is trying to prove a point
3) Olsen has something in his contract, but Unai has no intention of using him
3 doesn't make sense, so either it our available youth are really shit, or he's trying to make a point. Either way its a slight concern
-
Maybe it's his way of saying he knows Olsen is shit and needs replacing.
Leave him out of the squad then, we've got more than enough evidence of how shit he is.
-
If he is making a point (and he doesn't strike me as the sort to do that kind of thing) then it's a waste of a sub. Everything you read about him is how meticulous he is to detail. Maybe were all missing something.
-
Ancelotti at Everton did it sometimes, no idea how many. This is his reason at the time. West Ham, Leicester and Man Utd have also done it. Too lazy to check for reasons why though.
Ancelotti has now provided some explanation behind that, explaining how three shot-stoppers can be useful.
The boss told Sky Sports: "It's good to give Joao [Virginia] some matchday experience.
"It's also helpful I find to have two goalkeepers for the warm-ups.

Cheers, that seems more likely than Emery doing politics with the board.

It would be weird if he was making a point seeing as he mentioned quite strongly in the press conference how happy he was with the January activity.

Ok - that's interesting. Like Rigadon says - maybe this is the point were misisng

Imagine being able to use two or three goalkeepers simultaneously. However, this would mean only 8 outfield players, the one goal keeper allowed rule works well.
For example, if a team decides to substitute a keeper for an outfield player, what they gain in defending the goal they lose out on the outfield as there are less players in the outfield than they would have.
This is more reflective thought than suggestive.
-
Footy vill you do give off Alan Partridge vibes at times.

"So happy" he and Guardiola love using that form of English and use as a phrase to express the delight.
Let us hope To villa whom we are well pleased come end of match.
Up the Villa!
-
Digne back in for Moreno is interesting. Sure UE has his reasons.
This new guy Leicester have signed is very quick and he plays on the right so that will be key battle on top of midfield battle.
Think we'll need the first goal in this to win today.
-
Footy, didn’t you say that Emery dismissed Digne as “that player” with a little hand wave in his pre-game presser and he wouldn’t get selected today?
-
Pretty sure this is only our 4th Saturday 3pm home game in the last 15 months.
-
No Moreno is plain wrong.
-
...any decent rivers going lads?
-
A minute for the sad twats to do that "your city is blue" shite.
-
I am normally a very optimistic person but for some reason I have doubts today. Come on Unai start making me a believer!
-
Why are we kicking towards the Holte End again first half, we won the toss!
-
Kicking the right way.
-
No Moreno is plain wrong.
We'll see him and Cash on the hour if things are a bit flat I suspect.
-
Footy, didn’t you say that Emery dismissed Digne as “that player” with a little hand wave in his pre-game presser and he wouldn’t get selected today?
Yes his statement clearly was intended to appear as a bluff but is in fact genuine that he wanted Digne in for this as tactically he is more suited to this game.
Also there's a chance Digne could take the penalty.
-
Great start. Should be one nil though . Good link play.
-
Why are we kicking towards the Holte End again first half, we won the toss!
Brentford, Man Utd, Leeds.
-
why have we started playing towards the holte in the first half?
-
What is it with all the air shots of late. Great chance and he missed the ball completely
-
Should be one up
Did Watkins get in the way of JJ?
-
Imagine the idea to attack the holte is to get ahead and have a good start. It's interesting psychology by Emery.
Buendia frustrates me way he can get in the way of things or loses ball and get threatened in trainisiton.
-
Ollie one of his typical days, no control and wrong decisions
-
Can go above Liverpool today as they are losing to Wolves 1-0
-

Liverpool have given up for the season, remind me of Man. United 12 months back.
-
would be very thankful if somebody could pm me bout rivers this time of year

SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
OLLIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
I do love a bit of goal action early on reported by our very own Dr Who.
-
Ollie one of his typical days, no control and wrong decisions
Told you
-
why have we started playing towards the holte in the first half?
We normally score within 7 minutes thou
And should have done

Google search of the day Reddit Soccer [Small Rivers] dot TV
Please tell me if I am OOO here.

Get in!

Goalplloe
-
Yessssssssss
-
Yes Ollie Ollie
-
Watkinsssss
-
Gooooooooooooolol
-
Great effort from Buendia. Unlucky, followed up beautifully by Mr Watkins.
Excellent start.
-
Good finish that.
-
GETTTT INNN!!!!
-
1-1 Leicester score
-
Awesome defending....
-
Oh bugger. The usual.
1-1
-
Kamara what an idiot
(Just saw one of the 44)
-
Well taken Ollie
-
Infuriating!
-
FFS.
-
What the fuck are we doing
-
oh come on you fucks
-
Maddison. Shock.
-
Why fucking idiots
-
Need to respond now.
-
FFS. I'm behind.
-
That’s pure comedy
-
Maddison. Fuck off!
-
Not a good goal to concede. Poor concentration.
-
What the hell actually happened there? Looks like a collection of prize fuck ups caused by fucking around at the back
-
Well that's us getting done from a short goal kick again, Kamara now.
Do they get fined two weeks wages for taking a long kick or something now?
-
Stop fucking doing it you twats
Why did he not just boot the fucker
-
That's always going to be the risk with pissing around at the back, but we've definitely got the beating of these
-
Benny Hill theme video please.
-
What twats our players are at times.
Fuck off Maddison and Leicester, you dicks
-
Leicester are a good team , why oh why villa
I'm.so fucking angry
-
Passing out the back is fine.. giving BK the ball 10 yards away from goal with three pressing players around him is asinine.
-
I'm all for keeping it on the deck but sometimes you just have to get rid of the fucking thing.
-
Annoyingly that’s given them a lift
-
That has been coming for about three months
-
What the hell actually happened there? Looks like a collection of prize fuck ups caused by fucking around at the back
Boubs tried to turn in our own box and got dispossessed.
-
Started well, got the lead and then chuck it away by playing a ball to someone standing on our own penalty spot who has a man on him standing on him.
-
Maddison is getting inside Kamaras head
-
All part of the process. Frustrating but have to persevere
Come on Villa!
-
Stop fucking doing it you twats
Why did he not just boot the fucker
Sometimes I think, tulturally, this club hasn't got passed the year 2000. Some of the comments int his thread are extraordinary considering our brilliant form since Emery came in.
-
Bailey’s control is so poor at times
-
Does Leon Baily ever, ever beat a defender?
-
What the fuck do they do in training all week?
-
Stop fucking doing it you twats
Why did he not just boot the fucker

To be totally honest, though, we've come disturbingly close to a passing around at the back fuck up for ages now.
That doesn't mean you don't like Emery or think he's brilliant.
-
Where the hell is the booking for that Leicester tactical foul?!
These refs sometimes...
-
How many times this season have we given a team a goal from a terrible pass from the Goalie?
-

I dunno, coming on match threads, expecting reasoned well-balanced posts. Tsk!
-
That has been coming for about three months
You forgot Stevenage?
-
Lee “it really has, I really do” Hendrie.
-
The transition of moving us from a lump it long all the time and giving it away constantly team to passing from the back effectively is going to have moments of utter shit. Along with coaching better players who are comfortable doing it will help. Man City weren’t always as good as they are now.
-

3
-
It's frustrating because we were totally dominant until we gift wrapped that equaliser for them, and now they're looking more confident than we are.
-
Emery out.
-
Not to heap blame on him but that goal was down to Kamara trying to turn and getting dispossessed. I don't see that Martinez did anything wrong, if that's the tactic we are persevering with.
-

Yeah, just a bit concerning that it was our two best players who combined to give that goal away.
-

I think he should have gone long - there were three of their players practically standing next to Kamara, they were that close.
-
Lee “it really has, I really do” Hendrie.
Can't stand him. He also leaves..........long pauses........between words where........ it really isn't necessary.
-
Mings distribution today has been shite.
-
Wolves beating Liverpool 2-0.
Had that on my accumulator, too.
-

I'd prefer it if we did that too, it just feels nerve wracking to see us try to play that way. As you mentioned earlier, it feels like we've gotten away with a few now too.
-
How did we not score
-
Ollie is shit
-
Should have been two for Watkins.
-
Martinez can see the whole pitch when passing out from the back.
-
How did Ollie not score there?
-
Classic Watkins
-
Great move and cross by Emi
-
Watkins misses an open goal. Again.
-
Oh Watkins.
Please tell me Duran would bury that!
-

No probably with playing around the back but not give a player the ball when a player is breathing on you and still think you can mess about, just boot it .
Sitter missed
-
Back on top again now
-
Digne has been wide open a few times on teh left but we are to slow getting it out there.
-
Oh Ollie
-
That Watkins sitter looks worse with every view.
Jesus wept.
-
Watkins could have had a hat-trick already.
-
Oooh Bailey close. Nice shot
-
To be fair keeper got a touch which put him off
-
Against the bar, again.
-
Watkins - the player where moves go to die.
-
The fact that Ollie is getting those chances is really encouraging. It’s just a shame they are falling to Ollie versus a more effective prolific forward.
-
Header on to the bar
-
We are a bit unlucky today. Should be one up at least.
-
Watkins - the player where moves go to die.
Didn’t he literally score within the last 20 mins or so?
-
As frustrating as this is we have played some lovely stuff and creating some excellent chances
-
Scored, hit the bar twice, missed a sitter, forced a good save. Overall it's decent so far, if only we didn't gift them their only worthwhile chance.
-
Buendia much more involved today
-
SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
As frustrating as this is we have played some lovely stuff and creating some excellent chances
At some point in the not too distant future, we are going to be a very good side.
-
Bailey and Buendia are both having a good game.
-
Scorenado!!!
-
Goal
-
Yes! Watkins deflection.
-
What the fuck do they do in training all week?
Stay fit, set traps and take selfies for Insta.
-
Watkins - the player where moves go to die.
Didn’t he literally score within the last 20 mins or so?
Ah he did, and fair play, it wasn't an easy chance to score.
It's the times when he has an open goal or the chance to finish, or even set someone else through and he fails to do so, with such regularity that irk me.
-
VAR.
-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
-
if we can defend well then we'll win this, as Leicester can't defend for shit
-
Goal yes
-
Yesssssssssssss
-
Thank fuck for that, always liked Watkins
-
Is Allan c still at work?
-
Watkins - the player where moves go to die.

Well. Lol! Shut my mouth!
-
I did say in the pre match he’ll get a hat trick today.
-
Must be down as an own goal
-
Yes Yes Yes now let's not cock it up again
-
Come on villa
I can't go down pub tonight if we don't win this
-
What a finish!
-
OLLIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
-
Is it an own goal or should it go to Watkins?
-
We're up to 9th
-
Get in how about stop giving Ollie so much stick.
-
So did anyone have Souttar down to score on his debut?
*childish snigger*
-
I despise Maddison. He is a pound shop Grealish imitation. Even his hair is a shit knock off version of Grealish's...
-
VAR.
Fuck var.
-
Shit effort from Watkins, needed a deflection. Wank.
-
Now don’t throw it away again.
-
Thank the Lord Watkins can't shoot straight. I had him down for a brace today.
-
Get in how about stop giving Ollie so much stick.
Him and Bailey aren't a bad partnership really, are they.
-
Watkins works really hard for the team.
Yes, his control and finishing leave an amount to be desired at times - but his workrate is exceptional. And he’s recovered from the sitter to force an oggy too.
His touch is a little frustrating at times. He should have had a hat trick so far.
-
Not a pop at Watkins but if we could start to convert even half the clear opportunities we miss, or the number of times we hit the woodwork, we'd be unstoppable.
-
Ollie looking much more like the old Ollie.
-
Get in how about stop giving Ollie so much stick.
Never going to happen. Ollie is always going to be the blame boy.
-
Why did Madisson give it the ear cup to the Villa fans? Can't recall anyone ever giving him any grief?
-

I blame Olsen

Fair enough then.

2-2 Leicester score

I blame Olsen
Why didn’t Barry take the penalty?
😂
-
Bit niggly this. Leicester are a horrible team with a number of players that need to be (legally) booted into touch :D
-
Why does he always score against us?????
-
I hate him and I hate them.
Fuck off
-
Great marking guys.
-
Why did Madisson give it the ear cup to the Villa fans? Can't recall anyone ever giving him any grief?

Fair enough then.
Indeed, you have to feel very sorry for him really. What an awful start in life.
-
What's Mings doing though? Dozy
-
Defense?
-
FFS
-
Unacceptable.
Just pissing it away at the back today.
-
I fucking hate Leicester with a passion. We never seem to beat these shitarses
-
Our organization today feels a bit all over the place.
-
That was Digne
-
I fucking hate Leicester with a passion. We never seem to beat these shitarses
We beat them last season.
-
Think we need to go back to defending lessons again.
-
Jesus wept!
-
What's Mings doing though? Dozy
Digne at fault for me, needs to either come in or let Mings know the guy has drifted off him.
-
Hope we get a win here. This place will be unbearable if not
-
They're getting away with a lot of fouls.
-
Have to admit that's a very good goal. Bastards.
-
Honestly what the fuck were our defence doing there?
-
I fucking hate Leicester with a passion. We never seem to beat these shitarses
We beat them last season.
And the season before
-
Utter shit at the back.
As bad as Lee Hendrie’s commentary.
-
I fucking hate Leicester with a passion. We never seem to beat these shitarses
We beat them last season.
Go back over the last 20 years and I think we have won about 6. They are a bougey team for us, I still hate muzzy izzett and that team from the last 90s
-
They are a bougey team for us, I still hate muzzy izzett and that team from the last 90s
I hated their team from the 1890s even more.
-
I will be amazed if this ends 2-2 and 11 v 11.
-
Fucking Digne and Mings leaving Iheanacho totally unmarked. Shite.
Still, “trust the process”. FFS
-
Next season, please can Konsa, Mings and Digne be playing elsewhere.
-
Honestly what the fuck were our defence doing there?
Yeah no idea, Mings partly to blame but Lucas Digne should have been round to cover as well.
-
Mings fast asleep for their second.
-
Utter shit at the back.
As bad as Lee Hendrie’s commentary.
TBF, Lee's done really well for himself with the commentary gigs. Don't mind him at all.
-
2-3 Leicester score
-
Digne out of position too. All round shit show at the back.
-
What's Mings doing though? Dozy
Digne at fault for me, needs to either come in or let Mings know the guy has drifted off him.
Yes, fair point mate.
After seeing it again, I agree with you.
-
Oh Booby
-
McNulty's having a busy day refereeing today.
-
What the fuck are we doing at the back today. Unacceptable.
-
Oh for crying out loud!!!!! 3-2 Leicester
-
Mings fast asleep for their second.
Digne more at fault for me, needed to tuck in after Mings cleared the initial ball. Dreadful defending all round.
-
No foul?
-
bag of wank at the back
-
Utter shit
-
What is up with the passing too? So many dreadful short passes.
-
Right I'm out before I totally ruin my birthday weekend. Fuck this
-
Ffs
-
We've created loads, scored twice, and are somehow losing thanks to wank defending. They've hardly created anything themselves.
-
Fucking shit. Total fucking shit from us.
-
How did Kamara fall over?
-
Overplaying too much
-
Defensive shit show, not for the first time.
-
bag of wank at the back
On the manager I'm afraid. This moronic playing out from the back does NOT work with these players.
-
Mings fast asleep for their second.
I don't think that's fair, he cleared the ball before and then pushed out, exactly as every defender will be trained. The problem is you'd normally have the full back come in but Digne got himself a bit lost and ended up doing nothing.
and fuck, can't fault anyone for the final pass and finish but got caught too easily in midfield again. Kamara hasn't had a good day so far.
-
They're getting away with a lot of fouls.
Ref's a c**t.
-
It will feel particularly good when we win this 4-3
-
How long TIL the emery out thread starts l?
-
no defenders on the pitch should be pleased with their performance
-
Yuck
Stop messing about with it Villa. Tippy tappy bollocks
Am sick of seeing Maddison's face all the time on the live stream
-
Is there a touchline video of El Maestro conducting the maestros?
-
Mings in a different fucking world altogether there.
-
Boos?????
-
We are Maestros. Austin Maestros.
-
Well we played pretty well but actually physically presented them with three goals. Just bizarre
-
Wouldn't you just know it. One of theirs scores on his debut.
-
Three utterly disgusting goals to give away.
Absolutely three points dropped if we don't win this.
Mings and Kamara shocking.
-
bag of wank at the back
On the manager I'm afraid. This moronic playing out from the back does NOT work with these players.
Nope just because playing out of the back isint working it doesn't mean we should abandon it. We just need to be better at it.
-
How the hell we are losing that.
Though from 1-1 our response was really good.
Leicester just punished us for giving the ball away a few times.
One big issue we have is we take so many touches when we're approaching the penalty area, Bailey, Buendia and Luiz all guilty of this.
That slide rule pass for their third is how it should be done. Look up, see the run and play the pass through rather than trying to beat 2-3 players every single time.
More goals in this at least.
-
Buendia has been good. Kamara's worst game for Villa by a long way - at fault for 2 or their goals.
There's more goals in this game and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 4-4 or something daft. Be nice to see Duran come on.
-
So sloppy from us, getting caught in possession and the defence all half asleep.
-
We still aren't able to pass through to the midfield. Our possession tends to be around the defenders, Kamara and Luiz. It means we try and knock it about at the back and I guess we're not really good enough to do that well.
I forgot Ramsay was playing there, but it's not like we give him anything to work with.
Hopefully a big, professional half from us to come.
-
Boooooo!
Did I not like that. Always happens, the more time we have off the worse we return when we should be looking fresh.
-
It will feel particularly good when we win this 4-3
Agreed 8)
-
Utter shit. Mings was totally useless and Kamara not much better. 100% pure Villa
-
We didn’t get a striker in the only striker we have manages two and now the defence falls apart.
-
bag of wank at the back
On the manager I'm afraid. This moronic playing out from the back does NOT work with these players.
Nope just because playing out of the back isint working it doesn't mean we should abandon it. We just need to be better at it.
I wouldn't say the second or third were playing from the back.
Second is just a fantastic cross and Digne is completely oblivious and dosen't tuck in when Ihenacho drifts off Mings.
Third is Kamara drifting towards the halfway line but ball gets nicked off him and then we're caught square.
Leicester have been coached to press like this for three years now, we've had three months.
-
Clear foul on Kamara for the 3rd, no?
-
How long TIL the emery out thread starts l?
about 2 years
-
Fail to strengthen, go backwards.
-
Kamara having a mare
This fucking about at the back is costing us again
Get the ball up the fucking pitch, the 1st 10 mins we looked on fire
-
Dog shit defending. Typical Villa...
-
Shit defensively. Too many stupid passes and zero concentration or awareness. Game over. Fucking booooo.
-
Their second - Digne at fault, wandering around the area. Their third - Mings has no idea whatsoever what is going on around him.
Really poor from us. Look so much better going forward but you can't give 3 goals away as softly as that.
-
I forgot Ramsay was playing there, but it's not like we give him anything to work with.
Ramsay has struggled all season pretty much.
-
How we manage to shoot ourselves in the foot all the time from winning positions is quite unbelievable
We take too many stupid risks at the back
Can’t see it ending with the score mind so who knows what it will end up
-
Shit defensively. Too many stupid passes and zero concentration or awareness. Game over. Fucking booooo.
Game is definitely not over.
-
Utter shit. Mings was totally useless and Kamara not much better. 100% pure Villa
It's been a shit show at the back hasn't it.
Both Digne and Mings looking dodgy. I'm curious whether Mings will be offered a new contract or not.
-
Kamara off for Duran?
I’m struggling to see how we’d firm up our defence. It’s the defence which is costing us this game
-
Is Ihencacho's contract running out anytime soon?
I know he's one of those who seems to score half his career goals v us but I don't think he'd be a bad pick up at all for 15-20m. Would be a good replacement for Ings for what he offers anyway.
-
Clear foul on Kamara for the 3rd, no?
Yeah i want to see that again.
-
Shit defensively. Too many stupid passes and zero concentration or awareness. Game over. Fucking booooo.
Game is definitely not over.
Clear foul on Kamara for the 3rd, no?
Yeah i want to see that again.
Gifting goals.
Kamara must be replaced since he has been a total liability in possession of those goals.
No communication between Digne and Mings over the unmarked header.
It's disappointing since we are a much better team that half and were great moving forward.
We seemingly didn't anticipate Leicester would try to win the ball high up
We must take care of the ball because being in leaad twice at home we now find ourselves 3-2 down!
Unbelievable but it can be changed
-
Leicester have quality in the attacking areas but crap at the back . We have given them the initiative first half
-
They do take advantage of our "soft spot" playing out from the back. We still have alot of positives in our playing as a team. Interesting to see if Emery can turn this around. I hold out for a draw 4-4, Leicester are up for it today - noe easy opponent, lets hope they dont counterattack us with effect when we are chasing a goal
-
We need Carlos back ASAP
-
Is Ihencacho's contract running out anytime soon?
I know he's one of those who seems to score half his career goals v us but I don't think he'd be a bad pick up at all for 15-20m. Would be a good replacement for Ings for what he offers anyway.
Watching the game with my Leicester mate who’s good mates with Iheanacho. Iheanacho is desperate to leave.
-
Do we need the Donk on to restore order?
-
Unfortunately I have a direct view of the North stand goal. It isn't pretty seeing 3 go in there. Hopefully a couple more to go in that goal second half. But the fancying around at the back has to stop. It's not doing my blood pressure any good at all
-
Fucking around at the back got us knocked out of the FA Cup, and it cost us the first goal here.
-
Clear foul on Kamara for the 3rd, no?
Yeah i want to see that again.
I have not seen a replay so will hold off definitive judgement but it seemed to me he went down easily. We do that a lot, starting under Gerrard, and I have commented on it before because it's not the first time it has exposed us on the counter.
-
Boubs, even with the two clangers, he's too important to us to drop. He's not been bad, just unlucky and a bit too casual. Light the fire under him and the team and lets get at them.
-
Well we played pretty well but actually physically presented them with three goals. Just bizarre
Agreed, just need to clear our collective heads and go again. Buendia playing his best game in a Villa shirt? Luiz has been excellent too. Ollie was sharp for the goal. Played some great stuff at times but we have let the game turn into a basketball match.
Kamara had a shocker for two goals and isn't covering the counter attacks well enough either. More (a lot) needed from Ramsey/Bailey on that side. Digne is just so lightweight at left back. I'd nearly chance bringing on Cash at right back and switching Young over.
-
Well that’s shambolic and embarrassing.
-
Clear foul on Kamara for the 3rd, no?
Yeah i want to see that again.
I have not seen a replay so will hold off definitive judgement but it seemed to me he went down easily. We do that a lot, starting under Gerrard, and I have commented on it before because it's not the first time it has exposed us on the counter.
It looks like he had his ankle clipped from behind though.. either way it threw him off balance and you can’t let the opposing team just walk into the final third. It looked a clear foul!
-
Concede 3 goals in a half to fucking Leicester.
-
Is Ihencacho's contract running out anytime soon?
I know he's one of those who seems to score half his career goals v us but I don't think he'd be a bad pick up at all for 15-20m. Would be a good replacement for Ings for what he offers anyway.
Watching the game with my Leicester mate who’s good mates with Iheanacho. Iheanacho is desperate to leave.
He's been there since 2017. Still 26-27 so we could do worse in the summer I think. Would certainly give us something different to Ollie in six yard box and would've buried that chance he had at 1-1.
-
Maybe all this Emery magic is a myth.
Kamara doesn't play. We lose.
Kamara plays badly. We lose.
Kamara plays well. Which is most of the time when he plays. We win.
Simples.
-
Digne and JJ off, Moreno and Coutinho on.
-
Leicester have better players than their league position suggests but fuck me that was awful to concede three at home to them in one half. We have to get back on level terms at minimum ASAP.
-
Moreno coming on
-
Boubs, even with the two clangers, he's too important to us to drop. He's not been bad, just unlucky and a bit too casual. Light the fire under him and the team and lets get at them.
Nothing about Kamara’s mistakes was unlucky, it was just shit play.
-
Ramsey Digne off Coutinho Mareno on
-
Jesus but we are lucky not to be another goal down. Keep giving the ball away.
-
Digne and Ramsey off, Moreno and Coutinho on.
Wasn't really expecting Coutinho today, really hope he just dosen't get in the way of Buendia in final third now.
-
WTF, figure it out!
-
the game passed JJ by, totally anonymous.
-
One of these days Coutinho will score an absolute screamer
-
Ramsay was quiet
-
FFS - wakey wakey
-
Leicester miss sitter
-
Quite an intense start to the 2nd half
-
Kamara has been fantastic for us but is the main reason we aren't currently winning. It happens with young players.
-
Giving the ball away too easy
-
Ramsay was quiet
Utterly anonymous. Needs to improve and soon.
-
Should be 2-4 down.
-
Great ball by countiho
-
Fucking hell. Konsa can get in the bin as well.
-
Can anyone DM a river pls?
-
Ramsay was quiet
Utterly anonymous. Needs to improve and soon.
Can't remember when he impacted a game last. It's been a long dip in form but hopefully something he can overcome.
-
Another cheap giveaway nearly leads to a goal
-
This fucking referee is letting them foul at will.
-
Honestly, it feels like they might score everytime they are in our half.
-
That was a foul on countiho
-
Every time we've got the ball they look like scoring.
-
This fucking referee is letting them foul at will.
Record with Darren England and Villa matches
Won 2 Draw 3 Lost 4
Has give us penalties on the reg so lets hold out hope!
Come on Villa!
-
Too many players can't keep possession.
Keep the ball villa
-
For all the talk of Maddison, Barnes etc, there biggest threats are our defence and midfield.
-
We need to be much better than this. Feels like it’s a step back from the improved defending we have seen recently.
-
Should be 2-4 down.
3-4, you're forgetting the Watkins sitter.
-
That was a lovely move from us, to break in a counter attack. We should have done more with it, but nice to watch.
-
That was a foul on countiho
The ref has let a lot of 50/50s go, they've adapted to that better than us and started playing around it.
-
We need Carlos back ASAP
On what evidence is he better than what is out there..??
-
Coutinho looking bright at least. Must want Rodgers to sign him.
-
That was a foul on countiho
The ref has let a lot of 50/50s go, they've adapted to that better than us and started playing around it.
The 50/50 calls are going 80/20 though and cost us a goal.
-
Last time we lost 3-2 to these we went down.
-
14 days since last played some of that is showing
-
Last time we lost 3-2 to these we went down.
Oh no, we’re doomed.
-
We need Carlos back ASAP
On what evidence is he better than what is out there..??
At the very least it’d put pressure on Mings and Kockup.
-
That was a foul on countiho
The ref has let a lot of 50/50s go, they've adapted to that better than us and started playing around it.
Ref fine he's on top of things and rightly booked Castagne

Defensively a nightmare today.

by 505/50 I mean ones that tyou'll sometimes see a ref give and sometimes not.
What frustrates me is the ref just (a few mins ago) pinged Iheanacho for clipping konsa 's heels but I don't see that as any different to the contact on Kamara before their 3rd. It's the inconsistency with that that annoys me more than the one-eyed/biased decisions.
-
We’re not scoring again.
-
Matty Cash coming on.
-
Young off, Cash on
-
Ramsay was quiet
Utterly anonymous. Needs to improve and soon.
Can't remember when he impacted a game last. It's been a long dip in form but hopefully something he can overcome.
I can. Emery's first game, you know the one where we beat ManUre for the first time since Roll With It and Country House battled it out for number one.
-
Kamara needs hooking, having a nightmare.
-
That was a foul on countiho

Thats true.
The inconsistencies are very annoying
-
Kristansen looks like a generic PES master league player.
-
We need Carlos back ASAP
On what evidence is he better than what is out there..??
No evidence but highly likely!
-
Young was one of the better performers but seemed injured so came off.
-
Just score Villa.
-
We need a goal bring Ings on please.
-

You just said it wasn’t true.. wtf. We need a mute button.
-
Is Duran on the bench?
-
Whatever happens in end result today I still forecast we'll beat Man City next week. Have a good feeling on that and made prediction.
-
Luiz takes so many unnecessary touches on the ball.
-
Just score Villa.
We’ll score, we’ll score and once we get one we’ll get more. We’ll sing you a medley when you get to Wembley score villa score.
-
Moreno should have been on since the start.
Big mistake by Emery.
-
Is Duran on the bench?
Yes
-
Tete showing what an injection of new players can do.
Good head on him.
-
This is such a frustrating game. All the things which make you grind your teeth have somehow combined. Against this lot. At home.
-
I forecast the servers will
Melt after this...
-
Luiz takes so many unnecessary touches on the ball.
Emery has encouraged players to have more touches on the ball.
-
Luiz takes so many unnecessary touches on the ball.
That time it felt like he was waiting for a good option - which is a massive part of our problem. It's why Mings always has to ping it long.
-
Tete looks just like the sort of sensible attacking loan signing to bring in to freshen things up in January.
-
I forecast the servers will
Melt after this...
So you keep saying.
-
Ffs Bailey
-
Tete showing what an injection of new players can do.
Are we going to have half a season of this every time we aren't winning comfortably?
-
Should be 5-5 by now.
-
Oh Leon
-
Oh so close. Bailey unlucky.
Goal coming for us if we keep doing this. Buendia great work.
-
Bailey should have buried that
-
I fucking hate Bailey. I can't believe we couldn't find a player better than that one footed one man give the ball away routine.
-
How does Bailey not score. Buendia does brilliantly.
-
Bailey got to hot it first time
-
Tete showing what an injection of new players can do.
Are we going to have half a season of this every time we aren't winning comfortably?
Yes. It was a shit January and this is what happens.
-
CMON.
-
Tete looking dangerous every time.
-
How did we not score there, Buendia did amazingly well.
Can't keep wasting these moments.
-
Goal coming for us if we keep doing this. Buendia great work.
Yes, on this green baize we have to score.
-
Telling McGinn isn't even being considered to come on 3 subs so far amd not the frequent flyer Ginny.
This is being set up for Duran . Get him on!
-
Coutinho looks lively, shame Watkins couldn't put it away.
-
Bailey and Ollie have shocking finishing at times
-
Ffs Ollie
-
Bailey should have broke the net.
He misses too many for me.
-
I fucking hate Bailey. I can't believe we couldn't find a player better than that one footed one man give the ball away routine.
Hate? Really? Lots of things to hate before you get to one of our players.
-
Plenty of chances
-
If we had a striker.
-
Telling McGinn isn't even being considered to come on 3 subs so far amd not the frequent flyer Ginny.
This is being set up for Duran . Get him on!
Might come on later, Dublin up our chances to change things
-
I fucking hate Bailey. I can't believe we couldn't find a player better than that one footed one man give the ball away routine.
Hate? Really? Lots of things to hate before you get to one of our players.
Yep. I know it’s heat of the moment but poor choice of word, that.
-
Phil's been ok so far
-
Once again Watkins proves he has hit the grass ceiling.
-
FFS Watkins.
-
FFS another brilliant chance. What a waste!
-
Bailey and Ollie have shocking finishing at times
Most of the time tbf.
-
Urgh. Vardy on
-
Coutinho looking good.
-
That's why most of us get frustrated with Ollie.
It was a brilliant throughball and no excuse not to hit that early.
At least with Maddison off they'll sit in a bit.
Very impressed with Coutinho. His best spell in a game for about 12 months.
-
Cash is such a hit and hope merchant when he gets in the opposition half.
-
Ollie just isn’t clinical enough. He’s good enough for a place in the squad but we need a much more precise and accurate striker in the summer
-
PC scores, offside
-
3-3
Grrrr
-
Can we still bring roberto on?
-
He usually takes too many touches. Strangely, I can see Bert as being a more natural finisher. He often hits it early.
-
This is the sort of performance that should guarantee some serious signings in the summer.
-
I thought we were playing well.
-
I thought we were playing well.
We have, but some shockers in defence and finishing
-
This is the sort of performance that should guarantee some serious signings in the summer.
Or maybe the summer after eh?
-
Come on now Villa get the fucking goals.
-
This is the sort of performance that should guarantee some serious signings in the summer.
Or maybe the summer after eh?
Ha, yeah maybe
-
This is the sort of performance that should guarantee some serious signings in the summer.
Or maybe the summer after eh?
Don’t start it off again! Can’t be doing with another circular debate!
-
Who was offisde for the disallowed one? Did the ball back in from the edge of the box hit a Villa player because if it didn't I'm not sure what he's given it for.
-
Yeah,that offside was dubious
-
Who was offisde for the disallowed one? Did the ball back in from the edge of the box hit a Villa player because if it didn't I'm not sure what he's given it for.
Moreno, but the ball deflected off a defender. I don’t know the rules anymore.
-
This squad is good enough for 11th at best. It’s only ever been good enough for 11th. Not strengthening was a dereliction of duty.
-
Moreno's playing well
-
Who was offisde for the disallowed one? Did the ball back in from the edge of the box hit a Villa player because if it didn't I'm not sure what he's given it for.
On the replay I saw, all the Villa players were offside when Coutinho got his shot off on the edge of the box.
-
Battering them. This is up there with those Burnley games for 'how the fuck aren't we well ahead' games.
-
If we had a top class striker, this would be 6-3
-
Who was offisde for the disallowed one? Did the ball back in from the edge of the box hit a Villa player because if it didn't I'm not sure what he's given it for.
On the replay I saw, all the Villa players were offside when Coutinho got his shot off on the edge of the box.
Yes but none of them interfered with play so shouldn't have been given, that's why I was asking because I think that's what it was given for as well.
Moreno, but the ball deflected off a defender. I don’t know the rules anymore.
I'd like another look because he looked fine to me.
-
Vardy is a horrible chav, he really is
-
Who was offisde for the disallowed one? Did the ball back in from the edge of the box hit a Villa player because if it didn't I'm not sure what he's given it for.
…got his shot off on the edge of the box.
Hur hur snigger chortle etc
-
2-4 Leicester score
-
Bailey is infuriating.
-
Another fuck up
-
Unbelievable.
-
4 shots on target, 4 goals, all gifted to them.
-
Game over. This is the worst defending I can remember in a very long time.
And this after we pinned them back in their half for the last 15min.
-
2-4 Leicester score
Fucking inevitable after all that pressure we get bitten in the arse. Fucking hell Villa
-
Fuck off
-
Game over then. Great window Villa. Fucking wonderful.
-
Game over.
-
Ffs
-
Typical Villa, absolutely shite.
Lost my river but maybe just as well.
-
I fucking hate Leicester. They won't win again for another 4-5
-
Possibly the worst I've seen us defend in some time.
-
For fucks sake.
Totally not good enough in defence today.
Dreadful. Shocking. Shambolic.
-
Moreno looks decent going forward but absolutely shite at defending.
-
If only we had a finisher
Watkins works hard but he ain't no finisher
And now I'm tagged about 30 times on fb ffs
-
Bring Duran on.
The execution by the back four today is appalling. Absolutely appalling.
-
Moreno messed that up. For 4-2. One of those games. Desperately unlucky to be losing this with amount if attacks we had
-
Got exactly what we deserve. Kamikaze defending all the way through this game. Emery needs to stop being pig headed with this passing around at the back. This is 1000% his fault
-
I'm struggling to remember the last time we gifted a side 4 goals like we have today. And it's fuck all to do with not strengthening, as every goal was because of supposedly better players.
-
To go from near total pressure at their end to that is awful. FFS.
-
Abysmal defending all day, but also incredible profligacy up front.
-
Game over then. Great window Villa. Fucking wonderful.
It's defense that's cost us today, we weren't looking to strengthen there in January.

We are no safe yet. That January window is going to bite us well and truly on the arse.
-
May as well chuck Duran on.
-
Bring Duran on.
The execution by the back four today is appalling. Absolutely appalling.
Here he comes !
-
May as well chuck Duran on.
He's coming on
-
£40m worth of left backs and they’re all shit.
-
Duran
-
Our poor defending has decided the game.
-
Kamara and Bailey off, Duran and Donk on. Kamara has been utter wank today.
-
This is the most Villa-ery performance ever. Fucking dreadful.
-
Pathetic performance. Lots of running around but not much more.
Gerrard Out!
-
Finally Kamara off. And Baileys who was unlucky today.
Dendoncker and Duran on.
And no McGinn as used from all 5 subs.
-
Kamara was due a bad game. And Leicester clearly targeted him and pressured him into numerous errors. He will learn from this as he is too good a player.
-
We were due a defeat i suppose.
-
Kamara and Bailey off, Duran and Donk on. Kamara has been utter wank today.
Dismal. 1/10
-
We are no safe yet. That January window is going to bite us well and truly on the arse.
You really think we'll fail to get 12 or so points from 18 games?
-
I am so frustrated by this performance today.
We have dominated but effectively have made 4 simple, elementary, rudimentary defensive cock ups which been exploited.
Simply - our defence was not good enough today. Full stop. We should not be conceding 4 at home, especially when we have led twice.
Very very frustrating.
-
Leicester had scored three league goals since November 12th, then four against us in one afternoon.
-
I'm struggling to remember the last time we gifted a side 4 goals like we have today. And it's fuck all to do with not strengthening, as every goal was because of supposedly better players.
Absolutely, this result has absolutey fuck all to do with the transfer window (or with Sinisalo being on the bench).
-
Ugh. I really dislike Leicester.
-
Fucking crap. A January where EVERYONE knew we needed a Striker. We piss around, as we always seem to do, with a million and one excuses and the next game we miss chance after chance, defend like chuckle brothers and get hammered by crisp wankers. We move as a club at glacially slow that's why it's two steps forward and two steps backwards.
-
If Kamara is injured or has a bad game we don't really have anything else.
But it's just been weird. The actual play, the run of the game, the working of the space etc, we've been brilliant. Then we actually get to either end and we've looked like Buster Keaton in zero gravity.
-
This is the most Villa-ery performance ever. Fucking dreadful.
Yep.
Chelsea 0-0 and Liverpool imploding at Wolves so chance to go above both and we chuck in this display.
Hard to believe but we were leading this pretty comfortably.
Not good timing considering it's Man. City and Arsenal next.
This club lack so much mentality. No good giving it the big one in the press about europe and chucking in games like this.
-
Pathetic performance. Lots of running around but not much more.
Gerrard Out!
Defensively speaking, as bad as Fulham. Emery has been completely out thought by Rodgers.
-
We may need a striker but we have a pair of absolute jokers in central defence.
-
We are no safe yet. That January window is going to bite us well and truly on the arse.
You really think we'll fail to get 12 or so points from 18 games?
I panic easily but everyone below us has strengthened in January im concerned.
-

Gerrard Out!
Defensively speaking, as bad as Fulham. Emery has been completely out thought by Rodgers.
And he’s no tactical genius.
-
And now Duran out for the season
-

Absolutely, this result has absolutey fuck all to do with the transfer window (or with Sinisalo being on the bench).
The essential upgrade we needed at left-back (allegedly) was wholly at fault for the goal that ended our interest in the game.
So there's that bit.
-
This is why almost none of those at the back will be playing for us in 18 months time. Hopefully. Absolute dog shit defending. Gifted an absolute shithouse Leicester team 4 goals & 3 points. They should all be fined a months wages for dereliction if duty... Although, with the chances we have blown, the only people to blame for that defeat is ourselves. Gifted them the win at both ends of the pitch... Fucking fuming.
-
We move as a club at glacially slow that's why it's two steps forward and two steps backwards.
Yep, that’s the problem.
-
Kamara was due a bad game. And Leicester clearly targeted him and pressured him into numerous errors. He will learn from this as he is too good a player.
It's a shame it happened on the same day Luiz decided he could stroll around saving his energy for Carnival.

For what? We win two more games and we stay up. We did that three weeks ago.
It's very us though to blow a chance to get above Chelsea and Liverpool though with this sort of display.
Not going to be challenging seriously for europe in coming seasons if we chuck in defensive displays like this at key times in a season.
-
Pathetic performance. Lots of running around but not much more.
Gerrard Out!

This isn’t on Emery?! You’ve got to be joking.

He's good and he'll be our manager one day.

Has Duran gone off?

Leicester had scored three league goals since November 12th, then four against us in one afternoon.
They were sunning themselves for six of those weeks, mind.

and the guy he was bought in to replace was at fault for one as well.
A guy who some on here are convinced will bedemanding to leave before long was at fault for the other 2, so he's probably shit and needs to be replaced now as well.
-
Ah well another week where I won’t watch MOTD. To see jug eared twat being a biased jug eared twat.
-
Players made stupid mistakes.
Players didn’t take their chances.
You tend to lose.
-
Has Durán gone off or is it a wind up by a poster?
-

They have and I think he will. But he is casual on the ball sometimes.
-
Our new left back gave a goal away, and our one proper striker has been his usual profligate self. So yes, this January is to blame.
-
Jesús - we play decent football, but had shockers today - that's not managers fault
-
Pathetic performance. Lots of running around but not much more.
Gerrard Out!

Today he didn't need to be. We've been a rabble with one or two exceptions. Buendia and erm..?
-
I can't believe how many chances we have spurned today.
-
Has Durán gone off or is it a wind up by a poster?
Still on the pitch.

Story of a season
Missed chances
We can't concide 4 at hoe but should have had 6 today
-

That goal was given away by Cash IMO
-

I can't believe you don't think another striker on the bench instead of a 2nd goalkeeper would've stopped us making 4 defensive errors.
-

Don't be Kippax'd.l
-
Well. Somehow we played really well but managed to concede 4. Thanks for the company everyone.
-

They were sunning themselves for six of those weeks, mind.
Still across seven matches.

How do you work that out? Moreno completely missed the ball Sunday league style.
-
If we got Wenger in 1996 we wouldn't have had the patience to allow him be a success.
I despair, honestly. The negativity is toxic.

They led the table at times in his first season and finished 3rd. Next season they did the double. When did they need to be patient with him?

The move before Cash was rounded by his man and our defence was as a consequence wide open.

What are you reading that is making you despair? Honestly? Emery is a great manager and everyone seems to agree. So...?

untwist your knickers, it's not that bad.
