I'll be happy with a win. I have no idea what team will get us there, so I just hope it is this one today.

Apart from Kodjia coming in for either Gabby or Scott then I think that's our strongest line up which we'll see most of the season.

Would like to have seen a striker on the bench. Unless Samba is to be unleashed late on again....

Would he play Whelan and Jedinak or are you thinking Jed instead of Whelan? I'm not sure on that one.

Would have had Bree and O'Hare in for Hutton and Lansbury, and a fit Kodjia for Agbonlahor, but that's a decent team.

Think Steer deserved a start after midweek, too, but anyway, come on Villa!

Rather have Samba up top than Gabby, other than that, not bad.

Oh, ditch bun head too.

It looks like 4132, and Hutton shouldn't have to get too involved with anything beyond the halfway line. Come on Villa! When is Russon starting up the Soundtrack to Saturday again?

If whelan is fit he will start ahead of jedinak, you cant play them both together

Part of me would quite like to see the destruction those two in tandem would cause, though

Pretty good starting line up but no real options to change things from the bench. Still going for 1-1

Just check any footage of any game that Paul Green and Whelan played together in. Awful stuff altogether.

Would think it is going to be 4-4-2 and Lansbury is either going to partner Whelan in central midfield with Onomah in the 'number 10' position or vice versa.

Hogan needs a goal, doesn't look anything like a £9+ player, looks worth about £3m. Johnstone has competition now, if he doesn't do the business theirs no need to keep him in goal.

Who was deluded enough to think that a garbage side that couldn't score who flopped over the line and finished 14th would get promoted after adding a few old tired old men to the side on their way down whilst not addressing the problems of being unable to score, create or gain control in midfield because ball retention was so bad.

It's delusion to think this side will get promoted.

Can't keep or move the ball efficiently in midfield, standfast a hopeful punt over the top. They've managed to isolate Hutton at every opportunity, and he's been totally lacking. It's going to be a long afternoon now with them looking to get it to their quick front 3 at every opportunity.

Do we ever do any sort of crossing exercises at BMH..Not one has looked remotely dangerous

Bruce can fuck off now. Absolutely terrible and in a whole year under him
(Almost) we have not had 1 decent 90 minute showing.

No point keeping him. More dullard transfers of ageing one paced players or paint by number transfers thrown together with no semblance of an idea how to put them together, more midfielders to replace the midfielders from January who all have turned to turd.

what is it with Villa

buy one of the players of the championship hourinane -    ends up wank
decent midfielder at forest                                         -ends up wank
good scorer at Brentford                                              - ends up wank
a player stoke fans loved                                                 - ends up wank
a goalscorer called Ross                                                   - ends up wank

We have had chances. Hogan had one early on and yet again he couldn't take it.

Just sounds like a standard away game to me, we have a bit of pressure early on, can't score, concede a sloppy goal and then offer next to nothing for the rest of the game.

Sadly it seems Bruce thinks huff and puff is enough to get us out of this division. Run around chasing the ball and when you get it, put it in the box. At this rate he'll be lucky to last the month. He really should have gone in May. It would have been a big call but at least we would have had plenty to choose from to replace him. Now, the strongest line of defence for keeping him will be who can we bring in now the season has started.

I don't know how any can think he needs time.
This mythical 10 game period where we can see if the team will challenge or not.

It has always been obvious, he is incapable of change.
The run in last season proved it.
Pre season proved it.
The first three games of this season have proved it.

This is what we will get if we stick with Bruce.

He should have gone at the end of last season.

He surely needs to go now.

Suspect we will be seeing a 'Not impressed' headline tomorrow.

I suggested Warnock when RDM went, and got pelters for it. He is a very good manager at this level and can get a tune out of poor players and work with what he has. Bruce always buys a shed load of players and bumbles his way to a team that clicks.

I know it is early days, but I can't see him improving things and want him gone. That squad is good enough to at least be competitive.

I'm afraid he needs to cut his losses as difficult as it may be. He cannot wait and hope things will improve or we will be always chasing those above us and with this squad, not catching them.

Not sure Allardyce is the right choice though except to steady the ship, hardly a manager for the future.

Jokanovic at Fulham has more recent pedigree than Fat Sam in this division.

Automatic promotion and play-offs secured under two different oddball owners.  Without being able to throw unlimited shekels at the thing either. We might still (just about) offer something approximating career progression.

Fat Sam would be just more of the same -though perhaps a tad more effective.  Would have to question his motivation after retiring so recently though. Does he really need getting battered v Brentford away on a miserable Tues night in the Chumpionship.

Hogan is like a little boy lost up front. Honestly we've been an embarrassment to the club here.

Why are you being so positive?

It's no exaggeration to say Cardiff should be 6 up, Johnstone has been excellent.

SB simply can't come out and remark what he said after 10 away games last season.

Something has to change and I've lost confidence in him to do that given our poor start to this season in terms of performance.

I'm convinced every other team in the 4 leagues plays better football than us.

I always think that when I see us play too.  Every other team seems to have a system of play, and players who know how to fit into it.  One example: Cowley brothers and Lincoln City last season.

We should have sacked the fist-faced arse well before the end of last season.  This start was entirely predictable, and there's no way we're going up under Bruce.  Sack him tonight.

Taking off Onomah now. Weird. Get Hutton or the fat shit up front off. Nothing will ever be won with those pair in the team.

Shit defensively today. Shit.

Worryingly, I don't think Wyness, Round and the Doctor know how to appoint a progressive manager with tactical nous and a knowledge of flexible, attractive football.

that's my biggest worry to,
A short list of Sam, Warnock and Moyes would be as far as they look

We really are looking at an extended spell in the lower league.

The consistent inability to even look like we are trying to put together some sort of shape is shocking.

Disgusting. If he doesn't go tonight then we're going to be 4 games without a win after Reading and Norwich...and potentially at least 6pts behind the playoff spots already.

Good job we got that bloke from Chelsea in to inspire and motivate the players and tighten up the defence.

I expected to see him raving and motivating players. He looks shell shocked and rubbish.

The summer had been so nice without Villa ruining the weekend.

He's only a kid and he probably wants to go back to Chelsea after this experience and Chelsea would probably want him back after today.

I don't want to hear about another team meeting. Or any more fucking heart to hearts. This is enough. It's shit and getting much worse by the minute. He needs to be fired by tomorrow. He talks so glowingly about this being a once in a lifetime opportunity. Well you've massively fucked it up Steve.

It's ok 2-3 people will be along later to tell us how we're all wrong and to look at what Bruce did in the past.

He was a shit appointment at the time and has done nothing to suggest he was ever likely to be anything else.

Bruce made a big deal about referencing our bad start to last season. Plus our away record. He has had almost a full season in charge and he's not changed a single thing. We would be no worse off under RDM. At least under him we created a ton of chances. Get shot now. Jokanovic, Dean Smith - either for me and get them in place to take charge Saturday
