It would be nice to think so, and they're coming in poor form.

3-1 Swansea it is.

it's becoming difficult to motivate myself for the games and I'm not looking forward to driving 2 hours up to B6 for this game either.

so come on Villa just score a couple and win the fucking game, so my 2 hour journey home won't be so fucking tedious and the weekend can be enjoyed for once.

Saturday kick off 3pm at home
Away side in desperately poor form, havent won for ages
Their main striker looked lost and completely knackered last game
We played on Saturday, they played on Monday - a partuclarly hard fought, tough encounter against the legion of doom - stoke city
Our squad is nearing full strength, with very few injuries
Things are in our favour..........

Blues are now two places below us in the football league. There is a very realistic chance of them being in a higher division than us next season. We will not get a better chance to turn things round and kick start our season.

Taking all of  this into account, I predict a 0-1 Swansea win, Berfatembi Gomis deflected goal on about 75mins from a Guzan misplaced clearance

A win takes us to the giddy heights of 18th - yippee! Any other result could see us bottom come Sunday afternoon. Sadly I think it will be a draw - 2-2, but with the bonus that failing to win should see Sherwood on his bike.

2-2

If all fit, i’d like to see a run of games with this eleven. I liked the look of the Okore/Clark partnership at times last season, and despite Richards playing well as a whole it’s not helped our defence improve one bit has it? i’m sure he has more to offer as an attacking full back. And before anyone says ‘he wont play there’ what manager would get dictated to by a player as to where he wants to play ?

With him and Amavi as full backs i see a more balanced defence and more attacking threat and over lapping of those in front of them which can only help create more

Gil/Traore can fight for that wide right spot even though Gil cleary hasn’t got the legs to be a traditional winger

Grealish would start to give us width in a middle four but once he does he usual disappearing act i’d have him off and get Sanchez or Westwood on and possibly push Veretout to the left

I’d player Awew just off Gestede and give him a bit more licence to roam, but mainly in and around the box where we need him

Guzan stays in purely as i’ve no idea how much use Bunn is. I’d have him in the stiffs otherwise

---------------- Guzan -----------------
-Richards – Okore – Clark – Amavi-
--Gil – Gana – Veretout – Grealish--
---------- Awew – Gestede ----------

First goal is very key here I think. If we get it their confidence could go after the run they've been on. If it goes against us the atmosphere will almost certainly get quite nasty.

1-0 Villa win for me. Gestede just after half time.

Gestede needs be on the bench until the last 20-25 minutes, if it isnt working.

And give Guzan a few pointers about looking up at the pitch before deciding who to give the ball to, and cover your lines quick, incase the best option is going to fall over/ not control the ball etc

If in doubt - tonk it - left footed as far as it will go

I like Guzan, he's great on his day ( <insert here which day that was>) but a keeper has no where to hide, so yes, if in doubt hit it a fat one up the pitch - but make sure it doesnt get re-tonked into your net that you might have left unguarded....

I have no idea what team we'll put out and sadly my guess would be the same would go for Sherwood at this point in time

We'll probably play okay first half, gift them a goal at the start of the second and subsequently lose all confidence before Swansea run out comfortable winners

0-3

Immediately after the game Sherwood is awarded a new five year contract and Westwood continues to take every single corner during the five years.

Where are we suddenly getting a goal from? - I thought we were now officially Aston Villa Nil F.C.!!

Really though, Swansea are no great shakes, on a poor run of form etc.etc so I'll go for 0-1 to them obviously. Prove me wrong you BarStewards!

I think we'll be two up at half time after a scintillating first half. Then Guzan will flap at a cross and knock it into his own goal. He'll then follow that up with a hospital ball to Hutton and they will equalize from the resulting f-up. And into the final minute of injury time they'll get the winner from an Amavi mistake.

Both Swansea fullbacks will be treated in hospital for concussion after Westwood continues on corner and free-kick duty.

2-0 home win and finally, for the umpteenth time in the last few years, we'll turn the corner and go on a winning streak sending us up to the dizzy heights of mid-table. Or perhaps not.

I may be one of the only people on here but I hope we don't go with Gil as I honestly do think he's not very good. Problem is we've got too many of them. We need to be tight in the middle of midfield and there doesn't seem to be anyone who seems up to the job. Westwood and Sanchez have both had their chances but have been largely poor. Gana has to start but would be interesting to see when Ilorin comes in if it is as a central midfielder (or just stays as Stas No 2). We barely control the centre of the park and we always give the ball away in stupid areas. So you have to put more bodies in there to stem the flow and work your team around it. Adama to try and add the flair, Grealish and Sinclair, maybe Veretout to look to start attacks, and Gestede looking to get on the end of it. Gil offers little and offers little at either end other than one great strike at Leicester.

The Swansea midfield is not only technically good they are also all quite big and physical - see Shelvey, Sigurdson and the Asian lad. Gil, westwood and Grealish are in danger of being blown over, we need Sanchez and vertout in for this

I think we'll see Westwood and Gueye there as the "spine", which is fucking laughable as Westwood will basically stand around, not picking up runners, watching them sail past LIKE HE DOES EVERY TIME.

If they score first we are fucked.

I was thinking this the other day. If you go back to last season, we had Westwood who was basically the holding midfielder, then Cleverley and Delph who were the busy two out of the three and got about the pitch. It worked really well and we need to go back to that again, with Grealish in the floating role.

And yes, we need a solid 3 in the park - and we know that injuries etc will switch it around, but the suggested 3 should be match fit atm.

That's exactly what I meant. We were diabolical under Lambert and were lucky to win a corner in some games towards the end. Sherwood did have us playing with more urgency in the middle and I think we need that back.

Yeah, we lost the final, but we got there. It was a bonus at the time in a drab season. It's a shame we didn't turn up although Arsenal are a very good side.

ffs it's all in place for Swansea tomorrow...

Swansea have only won two of their last 11 league games (D4, L5).
They have gone five Premier League games without a win for the first time since October 2014.
Swansea have yet to win an away game in any competition this season (D2, L3).
They have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven league games.
Bafetimbi Gomis has failed to score in his last five Premier League games, having scored nine in his previous 10 league matches.

when the manager starts guaranteeing wins the end is nigh. I don't want desperation. I want a plan. You can't guarantee wins, but you can guarantee a well thought out plan, commitment and effort. It doesn't always work out because that's sports. I now fully expect us to fall flat on our face form the pressure the manager has just put on the players to deliver.

Here is an idea Tim.  Play a midfield of Sanchez, Gueye and Veretout. I bet you haven't thought of that!

All things considered, I really can't see a Villa win tomorrow...Swansea are due a result so may be the best we can hope for under the circumstances is a draw. Its been a few months since we got absolutely battered so I'm predicting an early goal for Swansea, heads to drop and the knives out for Sherwood by 5pm tomorrow afternoon...on the basis that he hasnt scored for 5 games, I've also put Gomis as captain in my dream team.

edit: yes it is all doom and gloom..the weather is going to be shit too.

ffs it's all in place for Swansea tomorrow...

Sigh indeed.
It's bloody written innit!

If every Villa fan puts a tenner on Gomis to score and Swansea to win, would we have enough winnings to buy the club come 4.45?
It won't work as the bookie will cut odd once they seen several bets to protect themselves.

Anyway, amavi will volley the opening goal home after a floaty corner gets headed to the edge of the box. Boom 1-0.
The win will be secured on around 80 mins when Ayew will latch onto a loose ball chip and ring the keeper take the ball down and stroke it into the North Stand goal.

Swansea have two very slow fullbacks. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4-4-2 with Traore and Amavi played as genuine wingers with Gestede and Gabby as the strikers. Gueye and Westwood as a midfield two and Richardson and Hutton the fullbacks again. Just have a feeling.

I want to see Ayew lead the attack. If you trusted Gab you can give him a go. I think we'll need a forward that can help build us into the final third.

I think this would be a good game for Amavi.

Apparently we dont have any injury problems, but question marks have to be asked about the match fitness of Clark, Okore and Gabby. We play our best football on the deck and need to stop trying to supply Gestede with crosses as it becomes the only gameplan whilst he's on the pitch, and I'm pretty sure Ayew would be able to get on the end of a cross if the quality of the ball is good enough and into the right area. We also need to protect the back four and be string in midfield whilst carrying a genuine threat with pace going forward...

Like that team KRS, would try Richards at right back though and have Lescott next to Clark. Then have Adama and grealish in a free role behind Ayew rather than Adama up top with Ayew.

Let gabby come on after the break if need be to stretch them with his pace (sniggers to himself) and Westwood to sit next to Sanchez when we are 2 up just to see the game through. We can dream I suppose.....

I agree, Gil looks just the sort of ineffectual-but-pleasing-on-the-eye player that adorns relegated teams.

Whereas I believe that today will end in another defeat, I'm still looking forward to it because it may prove to be an important part of the history of this club.

Hopefully (prepare for straw clutching), Lerner/Fox will realise at last that the jig is up and accept that you can't expect to survive in this league without investment in quality both on and off the pitch.

If they don't then thus could be the beginning of the end in the top flight for our great club.

Either way, a potentially historic day.

I don't expect to see Westood, Lescott, Gabby or Keiron fckin Richardson anywhere near the starting XI.

Win. Just win.
Probably all start !

Today is the day it all clicks into place
We win, emphatically, Ayew hatrick, Vertout with 3 assists, clean sheet, a big thank you and good bye from Sherwood and Fox realeasing a statement that a huge name in European football will be revealed to the World Press tonight at 7pm to be our new boss.

Today I am mostly wearing black in anticipation of another home defeat!
Hope I can change to brighter colours by 5-00 pm and watch MOTD. But not holding my breath!

Not speculating on team selection, formation and tactics. As my son said the other day there is no point in trying to second guess what an Idiot will do.

I am not really looking forward to this today. If things go badly and the crowd turn the usual outcome is arguments, threats and recriminations in the stands.

I really hope that if Sherwood is on his way out he goes down all guns blazing and we go for it.

I don't know why but I have a feeling that today will be the day that saves his job. I think he just might do what Chris said above and go out all guns blazing.

3-1 Villa

The weather is shit and I'm taking the little one. All the signs are their for a terrible day and he'll comfort eat and cost me a bomb. Please Villa, do the right thing today and win for me.

3-1 Villa

Even if we win today I can't see it heralding an amazing winning run as our next three are Spurs and Everton away and Man. City at home, draws at best.

I'm just concerned about our points tally whoever the manager is, we could easily be bottom after this weekend. We need to pick some points up soon.

I'm in Rio de Janeiro taking a break from it all. Not that I'm smug or anything... 😉

What Stirchley Villian means is that he is in Bournville. Its South Birmingham's equivalent of Rio!

I am going thinking we are going to lose... And yes it's Swansea City.

Even allowing for all the 'no disrespect' clichés and the way they have come on recently,  we are at home to  Swansea City and they're favourites to win.

                  Bunn

Hutton   Richards   Clark   Amavi

                Sanchez
    Veretout             Gueye

                 Grealish

         Traore           Ayew

Okore - bring on for Clark
Westwood - bring on for Sanchez/Veretout
Gil - bring on for Grealish

That is the line up I would go with as well to a man.It makes sense. And that is why Sherwood will come up with something that resembles a Heath Robinson invention!
yes, from me.

Outside chance, I know, but does anyone know if this game is being shown in Nepal? I've had a look online and can't see anything, my Wifi isn't strong enough to stream.

I have no doubt the team today will include Guzan, Lescott, Richardson, Westwood and Gabby. Good luck breaking the losing streak with that as 5 of the 11. We need to win desperately but I believe Swansea will simply pass all around us and keep the ball better. It won't shock me at all to see them stop their poor run at our expense.
