Smirker, re your sig, what really happened that day at The Kababish ? Or did E I Adio ever fully tell you?
Saturday kick off 3pm at home
Away side in desperately poor form, havent won for ages
Their main striker looked lost and completely knackered last game
We played on Saturday, they played on Monday - a partuclarly hard fought, tough encounter against the legion of doom - stoke city
Our squad is nearing full strength, with very few injuries
Things are in our favour..........
Blues are now two places below us in the football league. There is a very realistic chance of them being in a higher division than us next season. We will not get a better chance to turn things round and kick start our season.
Taking all of this into account, I predict a 0-1 Swansea win, Berfatembi Gomis deflected goal on about 75mins from a Guzan misplaced clearance
Gestede needs be on the bench until the last 20-25 minutes, if it isnt working.
And give Guzan a few pointers about looking up at the pitch before deciding who to give the ball to, and cover your lines quick, incase the best option is going to fall over/ not control the ball etc
It will be interesting to see who is sitting next to Tom Fox during the game.Mr and Mrs Ayew checking on their sons, Tom Fox gets talking to Mr Ayew, and immediately adds him to a shortlist,.

I've always liked Guzan, apart from when he first replaced Brad1 - but my advice is
If in doubt - tonk it - left footed as far as it will go

My first game at VP since Spurs last season and more importantly mine and the better halfs first day out together without the kids in flipping months. Win, lose or draw I will be having a great day. I actually think we will win, by the odd goal. 2-1 with a late winner from Richards.
I have this image of him banging in a last minute winner and going ape-shit mental in front of the Holte now in my optomist part of my brain. My first game at VP since Spurs last season and more importantly mine and the better halfs first day out together without the kids in flipping months. Have a great day.
I too think it will be a 2-1 Villa win. Good shout on Richards too, it's about time he started knocking one or two in.

Swansea haven't won since August.
We'll do our usual charity act and get their season back on track. 1-2
0-1
Taking my 4 year old boy to the game for his very first match. Poor sod I just hope it don't put him off for life.
1-1
I always remember my lads first game, he was a shade under 2 . Sat still and wide eyed for the first 5 mins then it was mayhem. Wouldn't sit still, dribbling, pulling faces at people, grabbing things , knocking stuff over, fell asleep, woke up , repeat.

What a bunch of lilly lily-livered defeatests. How about a bit of optimism?OK so who do you think will score the 1 goal for us?
1-3
You watch the fucking irony. He'll play Kozak, will score the goals in a victory and be the last goals Sherwood ever sees as manager of the club.Kozak is the most natural goal scorer at the club just now (not saying much I know).

So not looking forward to this game, and it really shouldn`t be like this.
2-0 home win and finally, for the umpteenth time in the last few years, we'll turn the corner and go on a winning streak sending us up to the dizzy heights of mid-table. Or perhaps not.
very little enthusiasm but will drag my sorry arse there out of habit. So not looking forward to this game, and it really shouldn`t be like this.
Very little enthusiasm but will drag my sorry ass there just in case...
Ideally we'll win and still sack Sherwood. Proper win-win.First back to back wins in how long?
I've pinged Tom Fox an email asking westwood to be taken off corners. Let's see if it works. Can you ping him another and ask if Westwood could just be taken off the pitch altogether?

I'm a bit optimistic about this one- think we'll win 2-0. So 0-1 it is then...A "bit" optimistic, i would say that was more "Wildly, hallucinegenically, mind-altering substance-ly, off-your frikkin tits-ly" optimistic at the moment !!.
We all know that Villa are the team to play if you have a striker that hasn't scored for 16 years, or a manager that hasn't won a game for 7 months etc......there is only one possible outcome.

Westwood and Jack took at least one each.I've pinged Tom Fox an email asking westwood to be taken off corners. Let's see if it works.
Wasn't it Gil who was on corner duty against Chelsea?
Grealish takes a decent corner and I'm surprised Amavi hasn't taken one yet.

Amavi is used to cover any counter attack that may come from corners. I guess it's down to his speed.

And he has good timing in the tackle. I think Jack and Gil should be on corners.
Alan Hutton is suggesting he doesn't mind a degraded team performance if it secures three points? I don't think that will be necessary Al.

Or even possible.
Is Sherwood going to ever start Sanchez, Gueye and Veretout in a 3-man midfield. This looks to me to be a balanced line up.

I was thinking this the other day. If you go back to last season, we had Westwood who was basically the holding midfielder, then Cleverley and Delph who were the busy two out of the three and got about the pitch. It worked really well and we need to go back to that again, with Grealish in the floating role.

We didn't go down and it helped us to a cup final, so yes it worked well.
Personally, I wouldn't have a player that can't kick a football properly anywhere near our starting eleven. But I take the point about three men.
Whatever happened to Ilori? He sounded like a really good prospect and capable of playing right back, centre back or defensive midfield.

I think we'll see Westwood and Gueye there as the "spine", which is fucking laughable as Westwood will basically stand around, not picking up runners, watching them sail past LIKE HE DOES EVERY TIME.

What you mean is it worked well once Sherwood came in and implemented it, which it did. But now, Sanchez replaces Westwood, Gana replaces Delph and Veretout replaces Cleverley. And in theory we should be at least as good there if not better given time.

I think he means it worked well compared to how things were looking previously, rather than in absolute terms. Seeing as we have reached the FA Cup Final twice in my lifetime I don't personally think it is downgrading expectations to think that is not to be sniffed at.

ffs it's all in place for Swansea tomorrow...
Swansea have only won two of their last 11 league games (D4, L5).
They have gone five Premier League games without a win for the first time since October 2014.
Swansea have yet to win an away game in any competition this season (D2, L3).
They have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven league games.
Bafetimbi Gomis has failed to score in his last five Premier League games, having scored nine in his previous 10 league matches.

I'll be meeting Leeg and the kids in the fun zone before the game, and then we'll head into the no fun zone for a couple of hours.
The proper fun zone for the kids by the Village. I never want to play any of the games in there, honest.
In a shock move to improve the defence our U14 goalkeeper is to start the game tomorrow against Swansea. I really hope we beat these horrible Welsh bastards. 2-0 villa. Are all Welsh people horrible bastards or just those supporting Swansea?
Let's send these bastards back down the mines with 4 goals rammed up their arse.Agree, send them back to the slag heaps of South wales the sheep kissing dole ites
There's your team talk, Tim.
It won't work as the bookie will cut odd once they seen several bets to protect themselves.ffs it's all in place for Swansea tomorrow...

If every Villa fan puts a tenner on Gomis to score and Swansea to win, would we have enough winnings to buy the club come 4.45?
There's a worrying amount of general anti-Welsh posts on this thread. Why the hostility ?Yeah right. What's with it? Beautiful country and just down the road for a quick break.

I can't remember him scoring? Apart from every bird that's ever set foot in Michu that is.
So I'm guessing tactics Tim will line them up as follows -
----------- Guzan --------------
Hutton Richards lescott Ricarhdson
Gil westwood Gana Grealish
--- Gabby --- Gestede ---------

Looks shit, very small and light weight. The midfield will be dominated.
Guzan needs to be dropped. And westwood
Guzan needs to be dropped.
aj2k77, I don't want Richards at right back, he is our best defender and has been excellent. However, you may well have a point for the Swansea game as Monteiro is their best player and he will contain him.

Hutton Richards Clark Amavi
Veretout Gana
Traore Gil Grealish
Ayew
Apparently we dont have any injury problems, but question marks have to be asked about the match fitness of Clark, Okore and Gabby. We play our best football on the deck and need to stop trying to supply Gestede with crosses as it becomes the only gameplan whilst he's on the pitch, and I'm pretty sure Ayew would be able to get on the end of a cross if the quality of the ball is good enough and into the right area. We also need to protect the back four and be string in midfield whilst carrying a genuine threat with pace going forward...

I may be one of the only people on here but I hope we don't go with Gil as I honestly do think he's not very good. Problem is we've got too many of them. We need to be tight in the middle of midfield and there doesn't seem to be anyone who seems up to the job. Westwood and Sanchez have both had their chances but have been largely poor. Gana has to start but would be interesting to see when Ilorin comes in if it is as a central midfielder (or just stays as Stas No 2). We barely control the centre of the park and we always give the ball away in stupid areas. So you have to put more bodies in there to stem the flow and work your team around it. Adama to try and add the flair, Grealish and Sinclair, maybe Veretout to look to start attacks, and Gestede looking to get on the end of it. Gil offers little and offers little at either end other than one great strike at Leicester.

that looks a decent line up, which is the one reason Tim wont pick it
At least with everyone fit he can pick his best side.Probably all start !
I don't expect to see Westood, Lescott, Gabby or Keiron fckin Richardson anywhere near the starting XI.
Win. Just win.
Today is the day it all clicks into placeWe win, emphatically, Ayew hatrick, Vertout with 3 assists, clean sheet, a big thank you and good bye from Sherwood and Fox realeasing a statement that a huge name in European football will be revealed to the World Press tonight at 7pm to be our new boss.
I don't know why but I have a feeling that today will be the day that saves his job. I think he just might do what Chris said above and go out all guns blazing.
3-1 Villa
I am not really looking forward to this today. If things go badly and the crowd turn the usual outcome is arguments, threats and recriminations in the stands.Pretty much this.
I really hope that if Sherwood is on his way out he goes down all guns blazing and we go for it.
I'm in Rio de Janeiro taking a break from it all. Not that I'm smug or anything... 😉

I have no doubt the team today will include Guzan, Lescott, Richardson, Westwood and Gabby. Good luck breaking the losing streak with that as 5 of the 11. We need to win desperately but I believe Swansea will simply pass all around us and keep the ball better. It won't shock me at all to see them stop their poor run at our expense.Yep. All starting
