Hope those that do don't mind me starting this.

Time to get on with the day job and focus.

You need a poll there Mr Amateur on who's going to win, or whether the punters think it might end as a draw.

Anyway, I fancy us getting a hard earned point. Benteke for us 1-1

I was thinking it was about time for the pre-match thread.

Man city were lucky against West Ham by all accounts at the weekend, so you never know. I'd be happy with a point just to keep us ticking over.

It's time to forget about the FA Cup (if we can) and concentrate on this. Man City still look a good side going forward so it'll be tough but there's no reason why we can't get a point.

I should imagine everybody is still up on cloud nine. Supporters, players, backroom staff. We all need to come down to earth pretty quick. Believe it or not we have a serious relegation fight to contend with. Luckily for us Man City have gone off the boil, There is discontent in the club
so we have a chance of gaining a decent result. It down to Gilet Man. Can this superhero come up with the goods?

Would you like to bet against him?

Im off now to watch Aston Villa V Liverpool FA Cup semi final just started on BT Sports ! !!!!!!!!

Getting thro' the game without any injuries will do for me.

Actually getting any points will be a real bonus

Pretty much this.

I'm pretty confident we'll put in a good performance.
Last season we set up to keep the score down - and failed!

I'd like to think we will get a point.

I would send out a shadow squad as reward for their efforts on Sunday - this game was always a hiding to nothing so keep them fresh for Wet Spam - we beat them and a bit of fortune with other results and we can coast to the final

Sinclair can't play as he's a City player still, and we do not want to be coasting up to the final. Even after we're safe we need to make sure we retain a good level of form come the end of May.

I'll go for a high-scoring game on Saturday, maybe 4-4.

Since the final is after the end of the league season, it should be irrelevant to selection policy.

During that year (years?) when the cup final was in-season it might have had an influence on selection but not now.

If players miss the final because the are burnt out / injured due to the effort put in to ensure league survival, then so be it.

Timmy doesn't really do draws. QPR was an oddity. I think either City win this, or we poke them in the eye and run off with their wallet. I fancy us to win. They look like they're ready for the beach.

1-2
Benteke, Grealish

2-2 with us coming from 1-0 and 2-1 to get the point.  Benteke with both (Kompany is a big loss).  Grealish could be the key though, Man City don't seem to have any capable of sitting in the hole and protecting the back 4 which is why they've struggled, get Grealish in the gap and on the ball and he can make things happen in this one.

As others have said Man City look to have fallen apart at the worst possible time right now.

We can really cause city a problem. I think if we bring gabby in for nzogbia and perhaps Sanchez for Westwood to compete with Toure physically, we're well set up to cause them problems

Of course, if the players are thinking about the FA cup as much as we are we'll get stuffed. And if we do that might be a helpful reminder!

But gabby and benteke against mangala and demichelis, with Grealish the extra man in midfield? Sounds quite tempting to me

I'd take a draw though.

We can't take this one for granted,
I know we think all we have to do is turn up and win this but city arnt a bad side you know and might cause us some problems
Yes we obviously should be beating these sort of teams, but we should guard against complacency

Man for man we are superior in every department, but footballs a funny old game and we need to be on it,
not losing football matches becomes a habit and I can't remember the last time it was for us but that doesn't mean it will never happen again

Peligrini is obviously tactically inept a mere beginer compared to our own football genius but we still need to approach the game with the right attitude

So with 110% effort from players and fans the result should be the forgone conclusion we expect

As someone has already pointed out this is a game made for Sanchez's physicality. Toure has been turning in a few half arsed displays just lately and is not that quick around midfield. Gabby to come in ,if fit, and firing on all cylinders, and I think we have a very good chance of winning

1-2 to our lads  Agbonlahor and Richardson.

I realise that they're a different prospect to Liverpool, but if we can get into them and match them in midfield than I believe that we can give them a game. If Toure and Lampard both play they'll really struggle with our energy in midfield. If Gabby's back I also think that he and Benteke could cause Managala and Demichelis some serious problems. Although I agree that Sanchez's physicality would be welcome, I think it'd be very harsh to drop Westwood after the weekend, so would leave him in there.

My big worry would be Navas running at Richardson, so might be tempted to bring Cissokho in. He'll have a point to prove ahead of the Cup Final too.

Tim Sherwood has confirmed that Philippe Senderos and Aly Cissokho return to the squad for the Man City match on Saturday.

Senderos and Cissokho played 90 minutes for the U21s in their game with Newcastle on Monday.

And boss Sherwood says the pair will be back involved with the first team for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Sherwood also revealed that Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark will miss out this weekend.

Baker is out with a knee injury and will be assessed on a week-to-week basis.

The manager said that it looks like Clark, injured against Tottenham, will be out for the rest of the season, a big blow as the centre-half has been one of the best performers this term.

Gabby Agbonlahor is facing a race against time for the clash with Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Sherwood said he hopes to see the pace ace available for the Man City match.

But, if not, he is confident of having Agbonlahor in the squad for the Everton encounter the following weekend.

I can't see Lampard playing much part for them from now on. They're safely top 4 and nowhere near the title, surely they'll save him for his exciting new role at the Manhattan branch. I hope so anyway, the not-fat bastard will be scoring against us with a deflection off his fucking bus pass otherwise.

Could be a good time to play them, they can't win the title anymore, and have opened up a decent gap between themselves and the 5th and 6th place teams.  Then again never an easy fixture for us and sometimes it can be dangerous coming off such a good result.  Would love a win as it would put any remaining fears of the drop just about to bed but will go for a 1-1 draw.  Delph to score ours.

Sadly I just can't see it. If we go up there, play some good football and give it 100% then that will be a big improvement on some of our spineless, resigned performances against the top 4 of the last few years (with a few exceptions). Under TS at least I'm sure we'll try and win it, if we come up a bit short having played well then it is no shame given the gulf in finances. On the other hand it feel like a good time to play them and I'd bloody love to see Benteke, Delph and Grealish giving their back line a torrid time and sneaking a win!

Gone for an optimistic draw. Think we could get gubbed, but hoping new found confidence / belief / knowledge of how to attack and score goals, may result in 1 rather than 0 points.

In reality, a point from this game would be great both for morale and edging towards safety in the league.

Only God knows how many times i have made the trek up to Manchester (City & Utd) over the years to see us quite comfortably beat. Can only see the same tomorrow if i am honest. We must make sure if we do lose we don't concede a hatful.Them 2 Villa 1

I love the title of the thread.

Realistically I can't see us getting anything away against Citeh, even if Silva doesn't start.

Feel fairly confident we'll get more points in May though and survive. Might be nervy if QPR and either Burnley or Leicester win this weekend though and we've lost.

Fairly even on form over the last 7 matches - and with their star no longer in the ascendancy.......

Villa win!

Routine Citeh win, I'm afraid.

Can anyone confirm if we have the upper tier blocks (213, 214 and 215) at the Etihad tomorrow or just lower tier (113, 114 and 115).

But I do know one thing we will be giving it a go

We need to attack their CB's with Benteke, because minus Kompany, Mangala and Demechelis are massively average.

Be interesting to see Gilet Man's line up. There is a suggestion that he may stay with Given. I wouldn't be too happy if he does and we lose.

We shall see.

If he plays Given  it should be on the understanding his fa cup final place is at risk.

I think he'll play more or less the same team as at Spurs

Guzan for Given
Maybe:
Cissokho for Richardson
Gabby for N'Zogbia
Sanchez for Westwood

We'll do well to get a draw.

That's going to be quite a narrow midfield it seems. I wonder if he'll consider pushing Cleverley up to play as a number 10, as he played a little there for Wigan.
