Manny Pacquiao could be showing early signs of Parkinson's or Alzheimers.I have seen at first hand what Parkinson's can do.Hope its none of the above.
-
How so? I know what Alzheimers does from personal family experience and it's horrible.
-
Ordinary Harrison set to return to the ring. Will people still pay money to watch that big useless oaf?

They'll pay to see him lose and to boo him.

Good point, I am up for that.
-

I dunno,it's only what's being reported. My Mother was told she could have both,it turned out to be Parkinson's.It took them age to find out what was wrong.

Good prize money on offer, and I would think nobody in the British top 5.He has a chance.

Hearn: It’s 70-30 Froch-Kessler 2 will happen at London’s O2 Arena in May

Steve Collins against Roy Jones.Dear god no.
-
Couple of good stoppages so far.
-
Looking forward to this one.
-
It's looking good from Gethin.
-
It's looking good from Gethin.
Murphy punched out.
-
This one should be over quickly.
-
Wipe that snot.
-
Watched the boxing show on Sky earlier and there seems to be a lot of good fights lined up this year.
-
Just watched Frankie Gavin - i know with his background i should not be a fan ..... but what a class act tonight stopped Welborn in 7th but won every round at a canter...seen him live a few times and gonna make sure i see him again. Plenty of nobs there following him each with their gold chains dangling!!!
But sheer class!!!
Fair play to Martin Gethin as well after 2nd rd just took complete control.
-
Anyone else going to Wolves tonight for Kal Yafai & Prizefighter? Really looking forward to seeing young Kal, he's going to be really special.
Ha I've just checked the train times and last one is 23:08 show finishes at 23:30. Bugger.
-
Prizefighter has been great so far.

Now now Dave.

The in between round interviews are shocking.

The in between round interviews are shocking.
It's like a Jeremy Kyle audition - lowest common denominator stuff.
-
The in between round interviews are shocking.
It's like a Jeremy Kyle audition - lowest common denominator stuff.
But its 100 mph boxing.
-
Good fight though.
-
Good last round.
-
The right result.
-
Good final, got caught at the end but did enough to win.
-
The aggro was on the other side of the ring from me. Best Prizefighter I've seen and not just because I was there. Loved it. Shame about the train times, got to see Yafai in probably his worst performance then had to leg it for the train. Missed the final, I had a pissed up Welsh bird sitting next to us supporting Evans who insisted on a five pound bet to pick who would go furthest. I picked Foot but didn't get to pick up my fiver. Great night though.
-
Shame you had to miss the final...it was also a cracking bout. Definetley Yafai's worst performance so far.
Probably one if not the best Prizefighter shows yet.
-
This is an interesting clip that's just gone onto YouTube.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pm250IIjFuY
-
World Series of boxing on Espn or YouTube. Some good boxing to be had.
-
Good card so far.
-
Frampton is doing his hardest to lose this fight.
-
Shows how much I know.Great finish.
-
Looking forward to the Broner v Rees fight this coming weekend. I think Broner will probably be to good for him, but it is always good to see decent British fighters like Rees get a chance on the big stage.
-
It's Audley time.....
-
Fuck.
-
Fuck.
Watching Boxnation what happened?
-
Won in 33 seconds.
-
Won in 33 seconds.
Cheers Dave Watching the Price fight then onto Prizefighter.
-
There is a guy playing guitar singing 'come together'.What the fuck is going on with British boxing?
We don't need to follow the Germans thank you.
-
Now we have fuckin drummers.
how is Prizefighter going?
-
Harrison just strolled past Rogan.
-
Harrison just strolled past Rogan.
Is that the semi?
-
Yes. Probably Harrison's best three rounds ever.
-
Oh dear Price.
-
Price Knocked out round 2.Well fuck me.
-
And it was pretty bad.
-
Thompson was 80/1 in the Arena.
-
Always were question marks of Price's chin. He can recover but that is a bad defeat.
-
Villa's defence looked more solid.
-
Getting hit with a shot like that was shocking from a defence point of view.
-
Tyson Fury must be well pissed off.
-
Getting hit with a shot like that was shocking from a defence point of view.
They need to work on his footwork.
-
Agree his defence was poor and it was down to movement.
-
Tyson Fury must be well pissed off.
Thompson wants to fight him next.
-
Tyson Fury must be well pissed off.
Thompson wants to fight him next.
I'll bet he does
-
Price has been shown for what he is, a big guy who can hit but can't take a shot. Fury isn't really up too much. Haye is the best British Heavyweight.
-
Audley's wearing a parka.
-
What a waste of talent Harrison is.Still 35 grand and a gold medal in the back pocket.
-
Where has that left hand of Harrison come from?
-
He'll get some sort of title shot after that.
-
Where has that left hand of Harrison come from?
He's always had it. Witness www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsN476-4vPY

Haven't looked at the link, but I'm guessing it's the Sprott punch.
-
Haven't looked at the link, but I'm guessing it's the Sprott punch.
Yup. Audley is the Stan Collymore of boxing. All the talent in the world but one fatal flaw.

Yeah Harrison has all the attributes except the fight.

Nothing funny about it. He's always had a punch, he can box, he just freezes when his opponent comes forward.

Just watched a cracker...Derry Matthews and Anthony Crolla........ a draw!!!!
One judge 2 rds for Matthews one judge 2 rounds Crolla third judge 115 115
A third fight a must now
-
No argument from me on the result.
-
Really tough to call, it would have been harsh if either had lost.
-
Something to remember when anyone makes a hilarious 'joke' about Audley Harrison or similar.

Tyson Fury's in big trouble.
-
Tyson Fury's in big trouble.
He was as well.....got lucky
-
That wasn't lucky. Fair play to him, he got out of trouble big style.
-
It was a cracking finish tbf to him.
-
Softest ring ropes I have seen in a long time.
-
Audley up next.
-
Come on Audley head says down inside 3.
-
Any links?

Any links?

I really hope Audley does this.
-
Oh dear.
-
Good stoppage by the ref.
-
Ah well.
-
Cheers, was over by the time i got on!
-
When is the next heavyweight prizefighter?
-
Richard Keys is a fucking wanker.
-
Keys is a twat.
-
Coventry ******.
-
Maybe he should see how long he would last in the ring before slagging boxers.
-
It's the way he says it, like he has been there and done it.
-
Where's Jim? a lot better than Mr Bitter.
-
King Khan dear me.
-
Very fucking American.
-
Fuck.
-
How long have I been saying Khan is not very good.
-
Khan needs to work on his footwork.
-
Cracking fight.
-
Khan should be jabbing the fuck out of him.
-
It is going to be an interesting last couple of rounds.
-
Khan can't help himself.
-
Diaz letting him off the hook.
-
Homer ref.
-
Very good fight Khan again shown up as not world class.
-
Cracking fight, khan was hanging on at times there.
-
Khan at times fights like a rank amateur.
-
World title shot in December? Off to Paddy Power easy money.
-
Anyone staying up to watch Murray? It's been moved forward to 01:15 because of high winds in Argentina.
-
Very good fight Khan again shown up as not world class.
I don't like the bloke myself but surely he is world class? May be not top of that tree but if you can be amongst the top boxers in your weight in the world than you are world class?
-
Slag Khan off as much as you want, he doesn't do dull fights though.
Ogogo looked promising as well for a first fight, lovely punch to finish it.
-

He is a very lucky boxer who would of been put away tonight by any of the world champions at his weight.Daiz should of had him out of there he must be kicking himself.
-
Boxnation having a mare again.
-
Murray knocks him down in the 8th in the rain.
-
Murray did well. I thought it was close but Martinez just did enough.
-
Ran out of legs in the 11th he was do close to doing it.
-
Harrison retires...

-
Murray did well. I thought it was close but Martinez just did enough.
There now has to be some kind of effort to get Murray, Macklin and Barker involved in domestic fights against each other.
-
That would be cool. They should have more three-at-a-time matches.
-
That would be cool. They should have more three-at-a-time matches.
Lol - Prat!!!

That would be cool. They should have more three-at-a-time matches.
Very good!!
-
Josh Grobin singing in the ring WTF!
-
Good to here Ian Darke commentating on ESPN.
-
Turned up to the pub and there is a fight on telly. One of the Klitchkos versus some bloke I don't know. Who is fighting and is there any chance the Klitchko might lose?
-

No he will piss it.
-
A good nights boxing awaits.
-
I hope the bars are full in Doncaster, there's no one turned up yet.
-
Oh fuck the England band have turned up.
-
A streaker at the boxing well I never.
-
I hope the bars are full in Doncaster, there's no one turned up yet.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me when I attend shows is the amount of people who pay good money and ignore all but one fight, usually a six rounder involving their mate jabbing his way to a points decision against a 3-87 Latvian or Sid Razak.

Very true, the undercard is sometimes better than the main event.
-
Good fight to start with.I fear Hall as lost it.
-
Bloody hell it was never 6 rounds in favour of Hall.
-
What is it with getting singers in the ring.
-
Very good fight so far.
-
Can't be as good as Choi v Simpson.
-
And another hometown decision.
-
McDonnel ahead with 3 to go Bloody good fight.
-
What a great fight McDonnel wins on a split.
-
Ricky Burns has got his hands full here. Gonzales is quality.
-
The only thing Gonzales is missing is the cigar I could watch him box all day.
-
I don't like to tempt fate but this is a masterclass.
-
Wtf.
-
Beat me to it.
-
Why didn't he just go running for 3 rounds?
-
I've never, ever seen anything like that before.
-
Have to question the "broken wrist" theory. The guy didn't even wince when his right hand was held aloft by the referee for applause after the fight, nor when his corner were tugging at the glove on his left hand. Surely he would have been in agony?
-
Last nights Degale fight to keep ya going till prizefighter...
-
Lee Purdy you clown.
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/22617997
Oh dear.
-
Without reading that link is it Audley not retiring?
Oh dear indeed.
-
It is.
-
This from the comments section is good:
Why do people insist on doing Audley down. It's not like he's ever hurt anybody. That last fight his opponent just walked up and punched him right in the face. Audley never punched him - Audley would never dream of punching anyone. Why can't we all just leave him alone?
-
In all seriousness, I'd just rather he didn't get hurt he has a family to care for. He's got nothing to gain, he keeps on banging on about 'climbing the mountain', but he's failed so many times now. He's achieved everything he can and he should stop and be happy with his career.
-
Froch has gone a bit far with some of his prefight comments.
-
Froch has gone a bit far with some of his prefight comments.
Froch rates himself highly. His talent however doesnt quite come up to the mark at the highest level.
-
It's more that he's saying -
- When I am smashing his face in, I am going to go for the kill," he told the Star. "I want to do him some damage. I will kill him if I have to. I want to put the record straight.
That's too far.
-
PPV sales not too good then?
-
I would guess so, because they've always seemed to get on alright.
-
He's apologised for his comments now.
-
I had quite liked the fact that 2 good boxers were due to fight and hadn't slagged each other off, just to try to boost interest.
-
I've got tickets for Saturday. Can't bloody wait.
-
I've got tickets for Saturday. Can't bloody wait.
Lucky sod
Enjoy.
-
Anyone know what time the actual Froch bout starts?
-
Anyone know what time the actual Froch bout starts?
11.15 ish.
-
Please Eddie no bullshit tonight with singers and hangers on in the ring.Lets just have the tear up.Rant over.
-
Belle up first.
-
Why isn't Bellew going in and out.
-
Bellew wins on points. Not convincing again.
-
9/4 Kessler is good odds.
-
9/4 Kessler is good odds.
Got him on points @5/2.Hope I'm wrong.
-
Groves looking good so far.
-
Lovely punch.
-
This is certainly worth £15. Oh yes.
-
Ex-Villa star being interviewed now.
-
Incredible atmosphere.
-
Kessler to stop froch.
I hope I'm wrong.
-
10-9 Froch
-
Froch on top. Keeping his hands low though in defence.
10- 9 (20 - 18)
-
2 ahead.
-
Better work from kessler but Froch's jab still dominant.
10 - 9 (30 - 27)
-
Stronger from Kessler but the Frochjab still doinant.
10 - 10 (40 - 37)
-
Kessler's first minute was better than froch's last. hope froch's fitness stands up because he needs to get the jab going with better snap.
9 - 10 (49 - 47)
-
The power's coming from Kessler now. froch puffing a bit.
9 - 10 (58 - 57)
-
What a fight.
-
Round 9 ...
(mate said froch won rounds 7 and 8 whilst iwas feeding the baby)
Kesslerdidthe snappier work so took it for me.
9 - 10
87 - 85
-
Good round from froch justwhen he needed it. A knockout to lose.
10-9
97 - 94
-
Good work by both and great salvo by Kessler. Gtreat finish to the round by Froch.
9 - 10
106 - 104
-
106-104 Froch.
-
Awesome fight.
-
Clearly thought he needed the round and took it.
10 - 9
116 - 113
-
I think he got it by 3 but some of those rounds were pretty close.
-
And another great fight is tainted by ridiculous scores.
-
The 118 -110 was indeed a little odd.
-
Sounded incredible on the radio, at times could hardly hear the commentator,
Two great fighters, could there be a third fight now ?
-
Great fight, but I thought there was only 2-3 rounds between them.
-
Froch vs Ward would be a huge draw in the UK, not so much over here.
I think that Froch would put up a better performance than he did last time but I would still fancy Ward to win it.
-
I thought George Groves was really impressive as well - cant think of his opponents name but he was not a mug in any shape of form.....Bright Future!
-
It was amazing. We had great seats and it was an incredible atmosphere. It really lived up to all the hype.
-
Mayweather has confirmed he's fighting Saul Alvarez in September, now that is a very interesting fight.
-
First time I've ever seen that.
-
First time I've ever seen that.
Terry O'Conner let him do it for 7 rounds. It is becoming the Terry O'Conner show too much now.
-
Good round that was.
-
Can't argue with that.
-
He can't carry on with that nose.
-
Mayweather has confirmed he's fighting Saul Alvarez in September, now that is a very interesting fight.
Heard somewhere that the fight falls on Mexican Independence Day which should add a bit of extra spice!!

Some good action on this weekend. Read a piece in the Evening Mail this week about Frankie Gavin and just wondering what the consensus on here is about (the team he supports aside). Is it me or has he not really kicked on the way others his age have?

He's massively talented but has had a lot of problems outside the ring. By this stage he should be beyond British title defences.

True,he didn't look all that fit last time out
-
Looks like Fury is doing his hardest not to fight Hayes by demanding 80% of the fight purse.
-
Gavin coming out to that fucking song again. He hasn't taken quite as many to Ellesmere Port as he did to Walsall though.
-
Gavin coming out to that fucking song again. He hasn't taken quite as many to Ellesmere Port as he did to Walsall though.
He has got a bit of shit on his shorts has well.
-
He's looking good though.
-
He's gonna get stopped with a cut if he carry on going in with his head.
-
He's still well on top but it's getting very scrappy.
-
How the ref hasn't taken a point off yet god only knows.
-
He's a warren fighter on a Warren card.
-
He's a warren fighter on a Warren card.
Yep,the commentary is so one eyed as well.
-
That is some broken jaw.The jury still out on Gavin don't think he is world class.
He would not get away with the head and shoulder boxing for a world title.
-
He showed why he could be world class, and why he won't be. There's skill there in spades but he's too happy to spoil.
-
Have to disagree with some on here....i thought Gavin was outstanding tonight apart from the 5th when he did take one he controlled every round and like he said in the interview he just didnt miss.
He WILL win a world title . ....he is still learning such a shame he is a nose...i love watching him, his style and speed of punch class.
-
I thought that Gavin looked good, but he still has a good way to go to be considered world class. I am not convinced that he has what it takes to be a world champion.
-
quigg looked good.
-
Macklin 10/1 to win on points.Got to be worth a couple.
-
What a round that was!
-
Now that was a round.
-
Punch! Great fight.
-
Gavin coming out to that fucking song again. He hasn't taken quite as many to Ellesmere Port as he did to Walsall though.
Comes out to that song and has that club's badge on his shorts, but then says after the fight that "it's not about Blues and Villa. It's about Birmingham".
-
Looks like Froch v Groves could be on.
-
Looks like Froch v Groves could be on.
Froch would destroy Groves in my opinion. Can see Froch vacating his belts rather than take that fight.
-
Can't Boxnation see there's a fight on?
Glad I don't pay for it.
-
Thompson at 4s for a stoppage is value bet of the night.
-
Thompson at 4s for a stoppage is value bet of the night.
Had some of that, and a quid on round 6.
-
My bloody sky has died so can't watch it! Trying to find a stream, if not you gentlemen are my eyes and ears!
-
WTF?
-
What the hell is going on in the ring ?
-
Tell me tell me! I'm a big Price fan.
I'm going to murder sky.
-
Whoever thought that was a good idea needs taking out the back and given a good kicking.

Thanks Dave!
-
Tell me tell me! I'm a big Price fan.
I'm going to murder sky.
You missed a man playing an out of tune sax to a born in the USA backing track.I think you should write to SKY and thank them.
-
He matched it with an out of tune God Save the Queen.
-
The Phoenix Suns have a guy do the national anthem sometimes with a trumpet and he is great, I love the sax, but boy that was shit.
-
Price looked out of it at the bell then.
-
He looks suspect when getting hit.
-
Round 6 Tony you idiot.
-
Thompson at 4s for a stoppage is value bet of the night.
Ahem...
-
He has never looked a natural boxer.
-
It's all very well being heavy handed but you need to know how to box as well.
-
But the greatest post-fight interview ever.
-
I've proved that I have no clue about boxing... I thought Price was going to be a very good boxer. So I can't predict football or Boxing.
-
Frank In tears.
-
Cracking Prizefighter tonight as well. As for Price, surely that wasn't what Lennox told him to do. Awful, he was worse than the sax player.
-
That's a crippling defeat for Price.
-
I couldn't really believe how Price petered out. I've never seen him fight before.
Why was he so spent so early on? Not fit? Got hurt? Not a good boxer?
I'm interested to hear what people think.
-
Well I know that two or three weeks before the fight he did Fighting Talk and made reference to going for a McDonalds breakfast. I appreciate that might be a one off, but that close to a fight you'd think that nutrition should be bang on.
-
Lack of feet movement is his biggest problem. When he comes forward he doesn't know which way to go.
-
He also needs to get his lead leg inside the other boxer. He doesn't do that which leeds to think he scared to get hurt.
-
ESPN's Friday Night fights is a good way of learning about boxing.Teddy Atlas's fight plan is one of highlights of the week.
-
Good fight this.
-
Great stuff.
-
Scott 6/1 for the knockout.
-
Interesting count out in the Del Boy fight, why wait til nine to stand up?
Billy Joe Saunders really looks the business in the fight after, really good hand speed and he's won every round so far. O'Sullivan has hardly laid a glove on him
-
Enzo up next it won't last long.
-
4/6 McKenzie inside the distance.
-
4/6 McKenzie inside the distance.
Got it cheers Dave used the 9/1 on villa I got yesterday.
-
That's the first time I have heard a corner say 'you can't take a punch'.
-
Good fight so far.
-
Nice rack.
-
Man against boy at the moment.
-
Should have stopped it then.
-
Should of been stopped end of that round.
-
Far too open all over.
-
Frank Warren had lost the plot.
-
Great performance from Darren Barker. Really close fight, he did really well after going down.
-
Tonight's undercard for the Burns fight http://boxingguru.eu/gurutv1.html
If not allowed please delete.Cheers.
-
Just about the thinnest undercard imaginable.
-
Matchroom are pretty good normally,They keep banging on.about the start of the season.I think.they know it ain't that good.
-
And Ricky Burns v s/o again.
-
And Ricky Burns v s/o again.
Yep,I haven't got much time for The money man but his fight coming up has one hell of an undercard
-
That was no knockdown, and this is painful.
-
Then in two weeks time you have another Matchroom card on Sky and the Dean Powell megashow on Boxnation.
-
What time does the big fight start bert ?
-
What time does the big fight start bert ?
10.15 I think.

Looking forward to.it then?
I know what you mean, far too much poor promotions to full the TV schedule.

They're both decent looking cards but I can't understand why they have such clashes.
-
And after all that, this is a decent fight.
-
And after all that, this is a decent fight.
A slow burner.
-
With Jim Watt, as ever, doing his best to make out that the foreign fighter will be given more than a round.
-
I bet the German judge as it as a draw.
Ooops!
-
I thoroughly enjoyed that Simmons fight...a cracker!!!
-
This kid looks relaxed on his way to the ring...no fear there. Ricky should be too much though???
-

Should be over 12 rounds.

Next time we play Scotland we should just go straight into the third verse of God Save the Queen.

Very good.Getting a bit sick of everything Scottish is great.
Anybody would think a vote was coming up.
-
Yet again Burns has found an unrated opponent who turns out to be dangerous. He should sack his matchmaker.
-
Ricky struggling here going into the 5th
-
Burns fighting the wrong fight here.you can tell Bertrand has worked with Mana,he is very square on.Burns needs to move left or right.
-
In Burns' last fight he was lucky that Gonzalaz ran out of steam. This guy's a lot more measured.
-
Jim has got that wrong by 2 rounds.
-
I love the way that Watt will say that whoever's having a good round has been winning the fight all the way through.
-
This is some fight.
-
I already have Burns having to stop him to win.
-
I don't know if Beltran's being professional or over-cautious.
-
I was gonna write after the 7th that Ricky gonna go on and win then that happens in the 8th...just dunno now!
-
I don't know if Beltran's being professional or over-cautious.
I agree I think if he went for it Burns is done.
-
I have it 96-93 Beltran.
-
I have it 96-93 Beltran.
Have him by 4 after 11 because of the knockdown.

Three minutes from a robbery?

Three minutes from a robbery?
I hope not.

Recount - 115-113 but...
-
Fuck off Matchroom you ******.
-
Travesty. Even Michael Buffer is as good as saying it.
-
Ritchie Davis sat on the fence there. No way was that a draw. Beltran won that....Burns a lucky lucky man
-
That is one of the biggest mug offs I have ever seen.
-
Twice in a row Burns has been very, very lucky.
-
Boxing continues to shoot itself in the foot with some of these scorecards. That was a joke.

True. It's getting to the point were fighters won't come over and we Really don't want to go back to Europeantitle fights being top of the bill.At least Johnny Nelson looks embarrassed by it all.
-
Terrible , wouldn't happen in UK , oh wait a minute..
-
Very good interview by Beltrand.
He was so pissed off he wasn't even bothered about talk of a rematch. Got to feel for him, comes all the way over, boxes his heart out and gets robbed by the judges.
-
Toe the skysports party line or your out ? Johhny Nelson said Burns never won the fight. The fact all of them thought different , but came out with politicians answers about a draw makes me yearn for the days of Sportsnight and Harry Carpenter.
I am sure a different view would have been given.
-
Burns was courageous to keep fighting, but Beltran won that fight definitely. So many judges are desperately poor and it's a shame for the sport.
-
Beltrand definitely should have won that fight.

Just received a Tweet from BoxNation apparently Dean Powell has died today:
@boxnationtv We are deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the loss of our close friend and colleague Dean Powell.
Hadn't heard anything about this, anyone know how, when etc!

Anyone watching the boxing on Chanel 5 tonight ?
Or maybe staying up even later for Floyd ?
-
I think BoxNation has a bloody cheek.
To charge £10 a month, but to fail to provide an HD channel isn't really on

Great fight so far.

Good finish.
-
After 7 rounds I have 6-1 Mayweather.
-
Mayweather still reigns supreme....12 rounds but no question.
-
Great performance by Mayweather, foot speed and hand speed were great. He makes his opponents miss so much and he also connects almost at will.
Canelo has plenty of time on his side and has looked way too good for most of his opponents.
How one judge had it even I have no idea.
-
Mayweather is without doubt the best in the world, and outclassed Alvarez last night.
However, anything he does will always seem a little hollow to me after his refusal to fight Pacquiao in his pomp 2 or 3 years ago or so.

Missed it power cut in the area.Gutted.

The Haye and Tyson Fury fight is off due to an injury to Haye.
Haye sustained the injury during the final spar of his training camp ahead of the sell-out bout which was due to take place at Manchester's MEN Arena.
A statement from Hayemaker Boxing said: "Hayemaker Boxing regret to inform that David Haye has been forced to postpone his September 28 bout with Tyson Fury due to a deep cut suffered during the final spar of training camp.
"The cut above his left eyebrow occurred in round two of sparring on Friday night (September 19) and required six stitches by a plastic surgeon at St. Thomas' hospital. Because of the gravity of the cut, these stitches will now remain in place for five to seven days.
"Unfortunately, after being properly assessed, Haye was left with no choice but to postpone his fight with Fury, scheduled for next Saturday night in Manchester. He is currently waiting on further medical assessment to determine the extent of the postponement."
-
Just seen the cut its a bad one just above the eye.
-
When Frankie Gavin turned pro I bet he would have been dead chuffed to think four years later he would be down the bill, winning one of the most boring British title fights ever.
-
Yes that was truly shite. Frankie won fight fair and square but boring or what.
History made on Sky with Liam Smith winning British title - 3 scouse twat brothers all holding British title at same time. Apparently first time in 104 years that this has happened.
-
Interesting news tonight...
-
Mayweather will batter Khan.
-
I cant see a mismatch like that happening unless Khan has spent his money. Mayweather would have him out in one round with ease.
-
This is turning into a good fight.
-
What a surprise.
-
I really hope that Lennox Lewis named the figure required for a come back, because he knows no-one will pay it. He should never come back.

Close fight, split decision. No more than a round or two in it either way. Home fighter gets a 117-111.

Haye has pulled out of Fury fight, again. Had shoulder surgery and may retire!
Biggest time-waster in sport.
-
I'd say it's a bit harsh to call him a time waster when he's had shoulder reconstruction surgery. It's not like he dodged the big fights in the past.
-
He would have known about this ages ago.
The Klitschko fight sure felt like a waste of time.
-
Still a World Champion.
-
Fury will be busy on twatter tonight.
-
And this will be the third time he has pulled out of a fight in 2013. Joker.
-
Yes but shoulder reconstruction surgery is hardly a weak excuse.
-
It sounds like the Surgical team didn't realise the extent of the damage to the Shoulder until they opened him up. So to say 'he would have known about this ages ago' doesn't quite ring true.
-
You probably shouldn't automatically believe everything you read.

Have you read the conspiracy thread bob? You'll love it.

Boxing underway up in Manchester - first one not lasting long....Commonwealth Super Middleweight between Fielding and Blackledge, Fielding retaining his title with a first round knock out.

Jamie McDonnell stops Bernard Inom in the 7th of 8 rounds.
McDonnell is the Doncaster lad who won the World IBF championship then Boxing politics stripped him of title???

I'm not much of a boxing person but as the week has gone on I've moved from thinking I don't really care about the froch-groves fight because whatever happens an English boxer will be right in the mix at the top to now wanting Froch to plaster him to the ropes in the first 30seconds. I know the trash talk is all part of it but Groves comes across as a right arrogant little shit who needs a good beating to learn a bit of respect.

I don't think that there is any doubting a Froch victory but i actually quite like young Groves when he beat James DeGale it was a great fight. I'm surprised by his decision to come across as this little arrogant piece of shit - it isn't him - he must be trying to wind Froch up so much that he thinks he will make mistakes - if he is then i say fair enough but can't see 'The Cobra'' falling for that.

Very rare i watch a fight these days - back in the 70s and 80s i used to love the Ali, Frazier , foreman, norton, hagler, hearns, sugar ray, Duran , fights but my interest waned as years went by - now I may watch 3 a year if that .

-
Froch back in it now!!
-
What a fight.
-
Froch has to knock him out now.
-
Froch has lost this fight by a long way, unless there is a knockout.
-
What a fucking disgrace of a stoppage. The fucking Hearns do it again!
-
Very harsh stoppage but I doubt Groves was going to make the end of the round, stayed up twice by falling into Froch then the ropes.
-
Did everyone else's stream go funny then?
-
Yes. Groves was robbed imv
-
Bloody disgrace.
-
Very harsh stoppage but I doubt Groves was going to make the end of the round, stayed up twice by falling into Froch then the ropes.
He deserved longer, though.
-
nope, the only funny thing on my stream was seeing the ref call it before Groves had gone down. I o get why he stopped it but I think a lot of people will feel it was unfair, as said, particularly when he hit him into the ropes, Groves was gone, his legs were all over the place when he got in and the ref must've seen that and decided it was enough.

I agree, that's why I said very harsh, I do think Froch was winning it in that round though.

Groves was infront by a bloody mile. Bloody stupid. Cannot wait for their next fight together. BOOOOOOOOOOOO

He did, ref stepped in a few seconds too early. Froch was in a worse state at times, I could understand if someone thought it was fixed...
-
First bit of trouble that Groves had and the fight was stopped. Fucking disgrace.
-
Groves was infront by a bloody mile. Bloody stupid. Cannot wait for their next fight together. BOOOOOOOOOOOO
Doesn't matter how far in front he was though, the ref stopped it because he thought Groves was going to get hurt if they carried on. I don't agree and think he should have let Froch land another flurry, which in my opinion would've put Groves down and his legs weren't going to get him back up once he went.
-

On mine the ending was repeated three times times then it went back to a shedload of booing, as though something had kicked off and the cam eras cut away from it.
-
George Groves got 'Kevin Friended'
-
Froch talking bollox in my view
-
If you look at the heavy stuff Froch took he was shaken for a few seconds but looked back with it in the next clash, Groves didn't at the end. He fell into Froch, got reset and then fell into the ropes a few seconds later. After that he got up, Froch went at him and he didn't look like he could cope with it, so the ref jumped in, he could and should have let that clash finish but it'd have ended with Groves on the floor in my opinion so I don't think he's been cheated out of it.
I think Groves did very well though and I think he'll be better for this fight, there were a couple of times where he got a bit too cocky an let Froch make it a scrap, which was naive.
-
Not Froch's sharpest performance by any means, hopefully the ref was in a better position to see that Groves wasn't going to see the end of the round.
Froch was hurt in the previous rounds and whilst he lost his composure he was never hanging on
-
I love boxing fans,
no matter how much they want their man to win if they feel there is an injustice they are not happy, they booed the roof of that arena tonight and most were supporting Froch before the fight
-
Should not have been stopped. Rematch.

As above, I think the same, that was the first time I sensed a knockout, it's a shame it wasn't allowed to come to a natural finish but I think all the comments that will come out about him being robbed are off the mark, I think Groves slowed down enough that Froch landed 5-6 big hits in a 15-20second blitz and Groves just couldn't handle it.

From the BBC live feed:
FROCH RETAINS WBA AND IBF TITLES
Right. Many, many of you seem to be suggesting that Groves should have been given longer. At first I thought the stoppage was premature, but then I saw the replays - he was gone, really gone. The referee then took a look at Groves's eyes, who then fell into his arms. Maybe Groves should have been given a chance to go down and get up.
That' how I saw it, I really don't think Groves was going to get to the bell in that round, by stopping it early there's a debate but if it had gone a few more seconds there wouldn't be.
Similar from Eddie Hearn as well:
Fight promoter Eddie Hearn: "Both fighters put everything on the line tonight. George was sensational he shocked everyone with his performance. I've never seen Carl down like he was in the first round, a rematch makes sense.
"There's always the argument you should be given every opportunity but for me George was hurt late on, he looked like he was out on his feet to me. If it went on another five seconds I'm not too sure if George could have done anything. You have to think of the safety of the fighters. I expected the fight to be more technical, but it was clinical in the end."
-
The ref wouldn't have stopped it that early if it was the other way round.
-
The ref wouldn't have stopped it that early if it was the other way round.
In your opinion, Froch was never in a condition where stopping it would be considered, in my opinion Groves clearly was and I really don't think he'd have made the end of the round (I think there was about a minute to go does that sound right)?

Whatever you say, you will never convince me that it wasn't a horrendously early stoppage, and I say that even though I had money on it.

You clearly don't watch a lot of Hearn promotions,it happens all the time.Barry/Eddie Hearn have the BBBofC in their pocket, they make them a lot of money.
-
@TheGouldfather: Totally unjust result with Groves winning hands down. Referee you were a disgrace to your profession.
@StanPetrov19: Wow. Very suspicious.booooooooo
@StanPetrov19: Im not watching boxing again🙈🙊
@GaryLineker: Not been a great day for referees in either football or boxing, judging by the reaction to the Froch decision.
@PaulSmithJnr: And Groves proved what I knew since I fought him, he's world class with world class jab, speed & movement. Deserves every success he gets.
-
Great fight but I think groves deserved to be given longer - the ref jumped in too soon for me - rematch is a must.

I t was early, I've said as much, I don't think it was horrendously early. As said last night, I genuinely don't think Groves would've finished the round, I think Froch is as much a victim as Groves as well, if it had been allowed to go on a little the reality is that Froch would be able to say that the first time he got on top he totally blew him away and knocked him out and you wouldn't have people calling it a fix.
-
Froch would not have been stopped if he was in Grove's condition in the ninth. Not a chance.
-
Froch would not have been stopped if he was in Grove's condition in the ninth. Not a chance.
Agreed, it was a world title fight and groves was ahead on all cards - he should have been given the chance to carry on - froch may well have finished him off but groves had earned the right to continue - he wasn't down and out .
-
www.boxingforum24.com has 73 separate threads started after the fight. Their mods must be even lazier than we are.
-
Since the Hearn's signed their big contract with Sky their boxers have I would guess 90% of the 'soft decision's have gone their way.
Groves was probably going to lose, but I am getting a bit sick of Eddie Hearn's looking looking like he has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar,at the end of fights.
-
It would be very interesting to look back at the last three or four years of Sky fights and see how many times the main event has ended in controversy - either a premature stoppage, downright robbery or ridiculously wide scoring in a tight fight - and compare it with what happens on BoxNation or terrestrial.
-
Only having one promoter for fights on Sky can't help.
The Hearn's are struggling to make fights has it is.
-
Just watched the whole fight on U Tube and was very surprised the referee stopped it at that point. In fact i'm shocked.
As a previous poster has observed If that had been Froch in no way would it have been stopped so quickly.
-
As I've said before, watch the way Groves falls into the ref as it's being stopped, he was gone as far as I'm concerned, the ref shouldn't have stopped it by any means but I think Froch would've won it if it hadn't been stopped. Groves was looking good whilst he was quicker than Froch, but in the 8th and 9th you could see the pace of it was getting to him and he slowed down quite a bit, Froch saw it as well, which is why he started going heavy at him. Even if Groves had got to the bell there's no chance he was lasting another 3 rounds after that. Most people thought Groves would start well and Froch would take over later in the fight, with round 5 being the common choice, it took a bit longer and Groves started better than anyone expected but once Froch was still going after 7-8 he was always going to start to dominate.

You might be right,
but boxing fights shouldn't be won on what we think would have happened or which way it probably could have gone, they are won on what actually happens in the ring
No one would have had a problem with that fight being stopped if Goves was well behind on points and he was put out of his misery, but he ahead, by as much as 5 on one judges card
I listened to it on the radio, but when I saw the footage yesterday, I was quite shocked the ref jumped in at that stage, he did neither boxer any favours
-

I think it's more a case of the referee grabbing Groves in a headlock, rather than him falling into him. What the hell was that about? It was almost as if the ref was saying "Go on Carl, give him a cheeky dig in the ribs while i'm holding him"
The more I look at it, the worse it gets. I struggle to recall a stoppage as flimsy as this one

He wasn't gone at the stage the ref stopped the fight. The ref let Froch get away with so much during the fight you could almost see what was coming.

I think it's more a case of the referee grabbing Groves in a headlock, rather than him falling into him. What the hell was that about? It was almost as if the ref was saying "Go on Carl, give him a cheeky dig in the ribs while i'm holding him"
The more I look at it, the worse it gets. I struggle to recall a stoppage as flimsy as this one
yep I agree,
I was expecting it to be a 50/50 shout by the ref, but when I saw it for the first time it looks bad, and like you say the more you see it it doesn't get any better, there is just no reason to stop the fight at that stage
-
Again, I agree he stopped it too early, my opinion is he stopped it 3-4 punches sooner than it would've ended naturally, hence why I'm not as outraged as most people. If you believe he'd have made it to the end of the round then you can be indignant on behalf of Groves, if not your sympathy should be with Froch who is being made a bit of a villain in this by many and his victory is being heavily questioned by most.

I think Froch is becoming the villain of the piece because of the way he has conducted himself, and his ludicrous comments after the fight.
To suggest the ref saved Groves career is incredibly arrogant considering Groves spent the majority of the fight making Froch look rather foolish (two of the judges scorecards were an utter disgrace).
I'd be surprised if Froch was to give Groves a rematch aswell. He knows he got very lucky in this fight, and Groves is only going to improve whilst Froch is on the decline.

I agree, froch has gone down in my estimation not only as a boxer but as a man - maybe he has an Aussie relative .

I understand perfectly fine thanks, I watched lots of boxing in the past but you don't really get it in Norway. The idea that because I don't agree with you I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about is pretty insulting and arrogant.
As I said, 'in my opinion' (that's the important bit) Groves wouldn't have made the end of the round. As he came off the ropes his legs were all over the place.
Watch from 2.35 and pay attention to his feet, he looks drunk, that's what makes me think the decision isn't as terrible as you seem to think.
The key punch is at 2:41 and catches him right on the temple just as he is coming off the ropes, he walked right into it. As far as I'm concerned the ref then judged that he wasn't capable of defending himself sufficiently and ended it, I don't agree but I also don't think it's a clear sign that it was fixed and that the referee is a massive cheat as seems to be the consensus from many. As for thinking Froch was talking shit, there are 2 people who can see Groves' eyes after that punch, 1 stopped the fight the other said he thought it was the right call, I'm not going to dispute that.
I don't really care how many Hearn fights have or haven't been fixed, I'm judging this one entirely on the fight I watched and on that basis the ref stopped it the first time he thought a boxer was genuinely in trouble, whether you agree or not that's his justification for his decision, we have no way to know whether he was right or wrong, just opinions. In my opinion a finisher like Froch stood over someone whose legs had gone was only ending 1 way so the early stoppage had no bearing on the result, regardless of your opinion of it.
Am I still wrong, do I still need to watch a bit more boxing or are you going to admit that I'm allowed to have an opinion, particularly when I can back it up?

On Saturday night you were using the BBC website to try and back it up,you didn't back it up then and you haven't now.
-
Another arrogant post that completely misses the point, I'm arguing that, in my opinion, despite it being stopped early the result wasn't affected, you're basically saying my opinion is meaningless. Me showing other people saying the same from the BBC was to show that there are people in boxing who think the same.
Me showing a video was explaining why I have the opinion I do. I'm not saying you have to agree with me and I'm not saying I'm right but I think there's far too many people saying Groves was cheated out of it and I just didn't see it that way as, in my opinion, Groves had slowed down. I think nothing like enough credit has been given to the amount of solid body blows Froch landed through the fight, Groves was getting his head out of the way well but was taking a lot shots to the body and they sapped a lot of his energy.
Your backing up of your opinion is largely based on other hearn fights being dodgy, which I've accepted, and on it being stopped early but I'm not arguing with you on that, what you've not answered is whether you think Groves would've lasted to the end of the 12th from that point. If you think he would've then fair enough in your opinion he's had the win stolen from him by a poor stoppage, if not then I don't really get why you're being so arrogant about it because largely we then agree.
As for the ref stopping it in the first round, if the ref thought Froch couldn't defend himself he should have stopped it, largely the difference was that Groves didn't press it home, I agree Froch was in trouble though. Once again though, I wouldn't have stopped the fight when he did, my point regarding the specifics of the stoppage is that there is an assumed knowledge from many that he stopped it because the fight was fixed, that might be the case, but I prefer to think that the ref made a judgement based on Groves walking into that punch just before he stepped in. Much like I personally prefer to believe that Froome and Bolt are clean, regardless of any drugs issues in the sport/country.
Once again to make sure you understand:
The ref stopped the fight too soon
The result wasn't affected, in my opinion
The stoppage shouldn't be seen as a clear case of fixing without reviewing the events
If you want to carry the conversation on please stop making this black and white that I must think the stoppage was correct, I've never said that at all, I've simply tried to offer an alternative to the assumption that the fight was fixed.
-
Paul e should the ref have stopped it in the 1st round?
Froch's eyes and legs were all the place after he had been knocked down.
Thats a very good point you have made. Froch for a few seconds was gone but boxing doesnt work like that does it!
-

Thats the point, you can't take a fight has a one off.Boxer's reputations count for so much but some people can't see it.

That's not the same point you've made previously though, you've previously insinuated that the fight was fixed, now you're saying that the ref was influenced by his opinion of Froch and Groves as fighters, I agree with the latter point, I think part of him stopping it early was to protect Groves because Groves has been suggested as having a glass chin, whereas Froch is renowned for being able to take shots (which is why he's managed to make it to the top despite his left hand guard being pathetic). I can totally understand that argument and I agree with it.
-
I have never said the fight was fixed. The ref made a decision based on a number of factors.Yes the Hearn camp get decisions their way.It has always happened in boxing and it always will. The champ always gets the rub of the green and can play dirty.Froch certainty did and got away with it.

What about Froch's conduct after the fight? Froch knows that this was a poor stoppage and he no longer deserves to be champion, yet he comes out with complete guff about the referee saving Grove's career, and that it was a good stoppage.
If Froch would have just come out and said that Groves was the better man on the night and the stoppage was the decision of the referee, without lying and saying it was correct, he wouldn't be getting the stick he is now.
I can't see Froch giving Groves his rematch either. Froch said something along the lines of "if it makes sense". That seems to me like he's giving himself an escape route.

Froch gave as much bullshit after the fight as Groves and Froch both gave before the fight, meh.
As for the bold bit, That 's just not true, Froch was behind on points but with 10minutes of fighting still to go to suggest he doesn't deserve to be champion is exactly why I feel more sorry for Froch than Groves over the whole thing, Groves has come out of it with his rep enhanced and most of the public thinking he won the fight and was robbed so he's the one that gets the most benefit from this in the long run. If it had carried on and Froch had carried on pummelling him that might not be the case.
-
We will never know.
-
I've just watched the fight back again. I'm no fan of either boxer, just like a good tear up. I had it scored 78-74 in favour of Groves. If the 9th had of been a 10-8 then with Froch coming on strong what a barnstorming finish we would have had. Froch can feel cheated by the ref aswell as there was a genuine chance that he would of pulled off the win, which let's face it after being nearly knocked out in the first and out boxed for most of the first 6 rounds would have been a legendary win.
Surely they have to rematch. Froch just didn't look right in that ring though, lot's of tapping at his nose.
-
Oh great within 5 minutes Boxnation going down the betting route.
