Available Sunday afternoon (KO 4pm).

Anyone who correctly predicts the starting line-up deserves a lifetime's free subscription to H&V. But no one will.
-
Obviously a reminder (http://www.heroesandvillains.info/forumv3/index.php?topic=47622.0) is needed.
-
Gabby on the bench.
-
Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Lichaj, Holman, KEA, Ireland, Bannan, Weimann, Bent.
-
Oo-er. Nice and ballsy but a bit mad and light in midfield numbers. Might be a bit overrun today.
-
Nice to see Guzan get a chance in goal
-
Very lightweight midfield ..no Delph even on bench
-
We're gonna get overrun in midfield.
-
Would have preferred Baker at centre half - Clark is a disaster there.
-
Would have preferred Baker to Clark at centre back. Apart from that I agree on dropping Given and N'Zogbia. Should be interesting.
-
Wouldn't have guessed Bannan or Clarke, so wouldn't have won the subscription.
-
Brad Guzan comes in for Shay Given while Ron Vlaar and Karim El Ahmadi return to the starting line-up. Newboy Jordan Bowery is on the bench alongside the recovered Gabby Agbonlahor.
VILLA: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Lichaj, Holman, KEA, Ireland, Bannan, Weimann, Bent. Subs: Given, Baker, Agbonlahor, N’Zogbia, Burke, Bowery, Willliams.
NEWCASTLE: Krul, Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Santon, Ben Arfa, Anita, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Ba, Cisse. Subs: Williamson, Gosling, Amalfitano, Birgimania, Marveaux, Obertan, Harper.

I'm surprised Bannan plays, but come on you Villa boys.
-
I wouldn't want to break any rules in asking for a stream, but is it against the rules to ask for any pubs or clubs that may be showing the game?
-
Is this not on Sky then?
-
I wouldn't want to break any rules in asking for a stream, but is it against the rules to ask for any pubs or clubs that may be showing the game?
No, I think that is OK.
-
Is this not on Sky then?
No they've got Southampton vs Man Utd on.
-
Where is Herd? That midfield lacks bite. I fear we'll be overrun like last week.
-
I'm surprised Bannan plays, but come on you Villa boys.
He had a good game against Tranmere.Play him while his confidence is high
-
So, anyone know of any pubs that may be showing the game in the Oldbury/Dudley/Halesowen area?
-
Is this not on Sky then?
No they've got Southampton vs Man Utd on.
Crap! So why on earth is it a 4pm kick off?
-
Pretty surprised to see no Delph or Herd anywhere near the team!
Presumably either Bannan and KEA in the middle, or perhaps a diamond with Holman at the tip?
Either way it looks weak to me. Fingers crossed.
-
He persists with Bannan who clearly isn't up to it, we may score but with our Midfield I can see them getting goals. 4-1 Newcastle.
-

Crap! So why on earth is it a 4pm kick off?
Good question............
-
Rococo in town, the George (?) In Sheldon (used to be The Chelmsley), St. John's Gravelly Hill.
-
Delph or Herd should have played for me if we're playing Ireland... mmm
-

No, I think that is OK.
I know the new rules but dont understand the reason for them. can the site even be held responsible for messages posted on its forums? Has there been contact from any authorities?

It's Sunday because of them playing in Europe on Thursday I don't know why it is an hour later though they normally play at 3pm.
-
Are pms with streams allowed? Would be most grateful.
-
Where's Delph? Must be injured, I think he's been good this season.

So, anyone know of any pubs that may be showing the game in the Oldbury/Dudley/Halesowen area?
You could try the Perry Hill Tavern in Oldbury some of my mates go there for Villa aways.

Thank you. Forgot about there...
-
Fair play to the manager. Given has been ropey, big chance for Guzan. He will be busy as well.

thanks. makes sense I guess

Thought Bennett might have got a sniff today, maybe Lambo was worried about it being a baptism of fire for the lad and wants to ease him in gently.
-
There were loads of pubs in Sutton showing the away games but they seemed to stop toward the end of last season, anyone know where will be showing the game today?
-
Thought Bennett might have got a sniff today, maybe Lambo was worried about it being a baptism of fire for the lad and wants to ease him in gently.
Was he signed in time to even be considered?
-
I think we're gonna be in trouble today and the rest of this season. That team just isn't good enough.
-

Yeah signed before Bowery, I'm surprised he's not involved.
-
Very surprised no given or Bennett but lets hope for a shock win.
-

Been injured tho ain't played this season
-
Bennet might still a bit away from fully fit and probably didn't want to put on for difficult away match.
-
I think we're gonna be in trouble today and the rest of this season. That team just isn't good enough.
Save the grim reaper act till after 6pm if you must- lets be positive!
-
We must weather the early storm. Conceding early goals is a real downer.
-
I think we're gonna be in trouble today and the rest of this season. That team just isn't good enough.
Been looking on newcastle forums and they seem to be of the same view..
-

Oh Velvet and Roccoco Bar on Broad Street
-
PW: isn't that St. John's club on Gravelly Hill showing them this year?
-
I think we're gonna be in trouble today and the rest of this season. That team just isn't good enough.

Us or them?

Herd and Delph both injured.........

Aston Hotel

Of us....They were wondering who half our players are....maybe today is the day those players become house-hold names.....

And yet all apart from Lowton are full internationals.

PL has shown a ruthless streak by dropping Shay Given, I hope Brad gets a run in the side now.
-

Only if he delivers , if not shay will be back, it's down to Guzan to keep the shirt.
-
I went to Forest and it was noticable that Guzan was under instruction to play the ball short to Bannan and the defenders, that seemed to go completely out of the window against WHU and Everton so maybe Given wasn't following orders and that's why he's out?
-
PL is a ruthless bastard (and I mean that in the nicest way) according to some Norwich fans and employees I have spoken to.
-
Surprised to see Bannan starting and Baker dropped
-

Been making regular mistakes for a while now. Another player in the comfort zone.
-

Didn't PL when he came say something along the lines of ' because you are in the team for a match doesn't mean you are an automatic choice and that places have to be earned.'
-
Surprised to see Bannan starting and Baker dropped
I thought Baker would be playing too.
But PL is boss, very clearly, and wants his ball playing centre back building a partnership with Concrete Ron
-
Glad to see Guzan in, but midfield looks weak.
If Herd and Delph are injured, I'd have preferred to have Clark in midfield, with Baker in central defence.
Think we might get a hiding today.
-
Come on me babbies!!
-
Still don't see Bent as a captain, surely its only a matter of time until Vlaar takes the armband.
-
was that Bannan who gave it away so cheaply
-
Come on me babbies!!
RT.

-
Is the match on telly anywhere? If not, why didn't it kick off yesterday at 3!
-
Good take from Guzan from the corner.
-
Is the match on telly anywhere? If not, why didn't it kick off yesterday at 3!
Europa League I think.
-
cus Newcastle played on Thursday night
-
Is the match on telly anywhere? If not, why didn't it kick off yesterday at 3!
Europa League I think.
That explains Sunday but doesn't explain the 4pm part
-
Not that I can see of course...... but Shay does not look happy
-
Great tackle by Vlaar.
-
That was a better move
-
We look much better.
-
Afternoon everyone.
It looks to me already like Bent is dropping a little deeper to get involved in the build-up play than he usually does. Just a coupe of times, mind.
-
Looks like a diamond to me. At least to begin with. Ireland at the tip. Looks weak but let's see . .
And the sooner we no longer have lichaj at left back the better for me. Started ok I reckon but still look too easy to run through in midfield
-
Dare I say it we're stroking the ball around quite nicely.
-
Bright start from us.
-
We look the better side so far. Ref giving them everything
-
Villa comfortable on the ball?????
Lambert you miracle worker
-
We are playing like we did first half vs. West Ham, just need to make the possession count now!
-
Balls through to Bent are still too straight
-
Given away cheaply by Bannan then.
-
When we pass, we look ok. Need to stop the wasteful long balls.
Don't think they're any better than us at the moment.
-
we look quite tidy on the break
-
Holman had an easy pass, but played the difficult one. Not clever.
-
Ireland looks up for it today.
-
Not a bad fifteen minutes or so, then. Lichaj is looking a little shaky, but hopefully he'll grow into the game a bit. Guzan seems to have a more commanding presence in the box to me. I don't know if he is much bigger than Given but he seems it.
Also, El Ahmadi's movement when we're in posession of the ball is a cut above anyone I've seen for Villa for ages. He is always shifting into position to receive the ball.
-
Ahhhhh final pass again lets us down.
-
great run from Ireland, bursting through from quite deep
-
The commentator is clearly part of the big media Newcastle wanking machine.
-
Bannan MUST stop these stupid 60 yard attempted balls.
-
Where can I watch it? Have looked all over the net.
-
Another wasted long ball from Bannan.
-
villa players lookng hungry and quick to cover whoever has the ball when we loose possession
-
Bannan keep it fucking simple.
-
Bannan seems incapable of playing a 5 yard pass, goes for hollywood every time.
-
What position did Holman come to us as? Anyone know where he played at his last club?
-
Where can I watch it? Have looked all over the net.
not looked hard enough then
pm me
-
Unlucky.
-
Good chance
-
That was a great chance
-
Barry Bannan hit's a long ball to no-one for the 6th time and we are only 15mins in.
Saints 1 nil up in other news.
-
Ah fuck can't believe we didn't score.
-
We look SO much better without Insomnia in the side.
-
Good chance for Bent, came from Irelands good play again.
-
Not too bad so far.but we just don't seem to have any belief, confidence or real ideas when we get to within 20 yards of their goal
-
We look SO much better without Insomnia in the side.
That we do Rissbert.
-
Bent should hit that first time.
-
We look SO much better without Insomnia in the side.
Just thinking that.
-
All good so far
-
Bent will score today if he gets another good chance.
-
Creating chances.
-
This is much better so far lads!
-
bloody helll a short pass from Bannan then
-
Slowly picking it up. Kep it going.
-
Will Bent eke out a goal here? Not with finishing like that.
-
Getting on top now, need a goal.
-
Will we ever score from a corner?
-
80% off at sports direct apparently
-
CLARK!!!!!!
-
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
-
Fucking get in. Well deserved.
-
Get in
-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-

-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
-
Woo-hoo!
-

-
YEEEESSSSSS!!!!
-
YYYYYEEEESSSSS get in Clark!
-

-

ACADEMY DEAD MY ARSE.
-
Get in Clark!!!!
-
Fuckin YES!!!!!
-
GET IN !
-
Yes get the fuck in!!!!
-
wayhay!
-
We are basically Barcelona today
-
Get in!!! Good goal!
-
Better team so far, lets keep getting at them now don't sit back.
-
Good stuff! We look decent. Looking forward to this season because I think good things are coming.
-
Well done Villa. Let's keep it going.
You could hear the disappointment in the commentators voice when it went in. Twat!
-
So, that's why Bannan and Clark were selected
-
nice
-
That's whylark will get starts ahead of Baker, he's a real threat at the other end.
Seems to have looked much more comfortable so far today as well.
-
Yes
-
Positive play-5 stayed in and around the box after the corner, ball broke to Barry bannan-lovely cross, great header from clark
-
You fucking lovely man!!!
-
Keep em out villa
-
Absolutely deserved so far. We kept both centre backs up for that too.
-
If this was last season, we'd be shutting up shop right now.
-
Gotta close down Anita....... Harris him
-
Is it too early to be thinking "lets get to half time at 1-0"?
-
Let's get a second while we are on top!
-
Absolutely deserved so far. We kept both centre backs up for that too.
I was doubly excited at first as I thought it was Vlarr who scored and I have him as an anytime scorer on Will Hill.
-
We've been the better team for the opening twenty-odd minutes, so to get the goal that deserved is brilliant, and hopefully gives the lads some confidence too. The whole team is working very hard - hopefully they'll start to believe that THAT is how they get the rewards.
-
The ref needs to book some of these Newcastle players for diving
-
Is it too early to be thinking "lets get to half time at 1-0"?
Sounds like we should be trying to get to half time at least at 2-0!
-
those newcastle fans I was talking about earlier know who Clark is now :)
-
From a corner...... Off to play with myself.
-
The ref needs to book some of these Newcastle players for diving
I have this nagging feeling that he'll give them a penalty today.
-
We're moving the ball forward with more urgency today. Bent's getting a lot more support. Irelands look good. Holmans looked sharper. So far so good. Not carrying N'Zogbia has helped too.
-
Wow, we actually got a goal whilst on top at the start of a game, nice! Go on the Villa boys!
-
KEA booked.
-
The ref needs to book some of these Newcastle players for diving
I have this nagging feeling that he'll give them a penalty today.
Yep. Or send one of ours off.
-
booking looke a bit harsh to me, no intent at all
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
-
We'll see if things have really changed if, instead of sitting back and inviting an equaliser, we get at them for number two.
-
Villa fans singing the Gabby song.
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
It wasn't our first attack at all.
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
Had at least three good attacks before the goal.
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
You have to remember that Sky Sports are twunts.
-
booking looke a bit harsh to me, no intent at all
Exactly. Straightforward foul, no reason for the card. Why do we always get refs who favour the home team? Except when we're the home team.
-
Very good save by Guzan.
-
Blimey that was a bit close
-
Fuck that was close.
-
That was some skill from Ba.
-
Great save Brad.
-
Come on lads we're inviting them on to us now.
-
earned his place there, guzan
-
Well done Mr Guzan.
-
We've been the better team definitely.
Not sure we'll hold out today but looks like we'll have a very decent team iby the end of the season...
-
Come on Villa, get a grip back on the game.
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
It was our 5th attempt on goal.
-
I'm probably being a little harsh here, and it seems a bit churlish to moan at this point but Ireland does look to me to be strolling through the game somewhat. A couple of times he's let players waltz away from him.
-
SkySports say goal was from Villa's first attack but Jack W has us with two Bent shots saved.
It wasn't our first attack at all.
Bet it is on MotD
I think Newcastle have been on top but they haven't really had many chances. Bent should have scored a few minutes before Clark scored.
-
Guzan justifying his selection at the moment.
Combination of us stepping of the gas and them picking it up. Need to get through to ht still up.
-
Did I really just see a Villa Keeper come and claim a cross? <rubbing eyes emoticon>
-
I'm probably being a little harsh here, and it seems a bit churlish to moan at this point but Ireland does look to me to be strolling through the game somewhat. A couple of times he's let players waltz away from him.
I think he's playing well.
-
Brad looking good in goal so far.
-
Anyone noticed how much higher our tempo is? We're running our balls off, good to see. Perhaps we actually need to slow it down a bit...
-
i am quite sure if we had the possession when BA was hurt then, they would be screaming for us to kick the ball in to touch
-
We just can't keep the ball
-

The bloke reporting on the game looks gutted we're in front. Especially as he's told the audience it has all been Newcastle

Newcastle look like they're running out of idea's already.

Ssshhh! You'll anger the football gods!

how different to the Everton game :)

I don't know why, but I detest Alan Pardew.

Just what you would expect, they still don't like us and never will
-

Steady on. It's not that convincing.
-
I promise for those not watching we have given a very good account of ourselves and created more chances than them.
I actually still think we'll lose this game but I'm MUCH more optimistic about the season.
Love the way they're trying to play, Gabby to come back plus CB, Weimann looking good.
Think towards the end of the season we'll be a good outfit...
-
Sky wankers
This.
-
We look much better with N'Zogbia not in the team. Lowton is playing well as well.
-
I don't know why, but I detest Alan Pardew.
Amen to that.

I've got a Norwegian commentator. Breath of fresh air.
-
Lowton is playing well as well.
I agree. I'm impressed.
-
Lovely start. Definitely been better than them.
Bannan looks tasty but Holman a tad shite.
-
kid n' play coming on for barcodes
-
I don't know why, but I detest Alan Pardew.
This. Can't really explain why though.
-
kid n' play coming on for barcodes
Both of them???
-
I don't see how anyone can say its been all newcastle. That's bollocks. I'm still nervous and unsure about out defence. But the tactics are working well. Lots of group pressure on the ball. Some good passing though we still lack quality a bit in the last third.
-
Guzan's looking commanding. Given's always been a quiet keeper too, and I'm liking the fact that Guzan is getting amongst his defenders, and getting them organised. They always know where he is. It looks like Guzan really wants to keep his spot now. He's finally got a manager who'll actually pick him on merit.
Loving the workrate from all involved too. Particularly Ireland and Bannan who haven't always worked hard enough in defence. They're both putting in a good shift.
-
I don't know why, but I detest Alan Pardew.
This. Can't really explain why though.
I think it's the unfounded arrogance. But it could be other things too.
-

this. It amazed me when he publicly ruled himself out of the vacant England managers position. Like he was ever considered.
-
Lowton looks a composed fella on the ball doesn't he? Lichaj doesn't!
-

Also annoyed me how he acted after pushing the linesman. I reckon he'd have been a lot less jokey about it if an opposition player had done that to him.

Aha.
-
Holman looks poor.
-
Fuckin hell Ireland, if you were positive then, you were in.
-
Lowton looks a composed fella on the ball doesn't he? Lichaj doesn't!
In fairness, Eric is a right back not a left back!
-
I think PL has told them to play with fire up their ass, could do with a bit more patience in the final third. Somewhere between this performance and the West Ham one could do it.
-
Holman looks like the whole game is passing him by at the minute, hopefully he just needs a few games under his belt to adjust to life in the EPL.
-
Maybe Holman needs to be a super sub. Looked pants in his 2 starts, looked good in his sub appearance.
-
Holman looks poor.
Listening on WM and they can't stop praising his work rate.
-
Phew
-
I still can't say with any certainty what exactly Holman's position is, but I do think he works very hard for the team, he pops up all over the pitch and chases back very well. He also does seem to have a decent eye for a pass from time to time. Those are qualities that may well keep him in and abuot the first team, I reckon.
-
Should be 1-1, sloppy defending there.
-
Lichaj looks suspect to me at left back. Not his position I know.
Holman is high on endeavour but looks a little rough and ready on the ball.
-
Holman looks poor.
Listening on WM and they can't stop praising his work rate.
Combine him and Ireland then and you might have a great player!
-
Bennet will push lichaj hard
-
WM must be watching a different Holman, they seem to think he is playing ok.
-
Really good performance in first half.
-
I'll take that. Went off the boil a bit after we scored and needed HT to come.
-
very encouraging 45 mins. another couple of games and we will be totally unrecognisable from last years bag of shit. nice to see players looking up before passing. defence looks the most organised in a long time.
-
Good performance, a bit nervy at the back at times but there's no disgrace there with their front two. Generally it's been pretty comfortable.
-
Needed half time then, PL needs to ask for more of the same second half.
-
Need to be a bit reinvigorated for second half though.
-
Good first half hour, already nervous for the second half!
-

I like him to be honest. He does pop up here and there, his best position maybe the one Ireland currently occupies and I think his work rate is excellent.
-
Half time, and a pretty impressive showing from Villa. I mentioned it at the atsrt of the match, but Bent definitely seems to me to be to putting effort into helping the team out more than usual. Responding to Lambert's instructin or the increased competition for a place I don't know, but it HAS made a difference to our attacking play.
But not as much as N'Zogbia not being on the pitch at all.
-
Encouraging half and much better than last week, keep it going lads!
-
I still can't stand Andy Gray
-
Good half. Linked up well and pressed them when not in possession. Would like to see Gabby on for Holman
-
Bennet will push lichaj hard
Bennett, being a specialist LB will replace him. He's a very attacking full back and hopefully sound defensively.
-
44% possession away from home looking good.

Holman looks poor.
Listening on WM and they can't stop praising his work rate.
Cant listen on t'internet :(
-
I predicted a 1-0,but i hope i'm wrong and we keep positive and go on to score a second
in the words of mrs doyle "go,on, go on go on gowon gowongowongowon GO ON"
-
I've just come in from work, could somebody please give me a summary of the first half? I don't believe the score!
-
I like Holman, he's been really good in our pressing game, which has been a feature of the half. Newcastle haven't been able to find their rhythm. On the ball he's been a bit gash, but hey ho.
Impressed with the team effort out there. That's why Bannan's in the team - he can be frustrating but he can also play brilliant passes and crosses and Clark took full advantage of their horrible marking.
Bent's been winning a lot of flick-ons, though good to see our only long balls have been goal kicks. He looks uncomfortable on the ball when he's not in the box, but he and Weimann have been working hard and giving options, which is a great improvement.
In conclusion: keep it up, please for god's sake keep it up!
-
Watching this live on Greek TV and it is feckin brilliant. We are playing with lots of energy, keeping possession well and getting numbers forward. I love it, just feckin love it. Keep it up lads.

think the England squad may be the reason for Bents increased efforts. that and the arrival of Benteke.
-
Good half. Linked up well and pressed them when not in possession. Would like to see Gabby on for Holman
No need for changes yet, maybe gabby for Weizmann in last 20 mins, I'm happy with holmans display so far, he's been involved and busy and closed down well too.
-
Half time key points for me:
- still really nervous and on another day Newcastle would have scored
- but compared to my expectations, a damn sight better
- tactics working well, particularly the hassling
- still a bit sloppy on the ball at times, and you feel that one of these free kicks is going to hurt us at some point
- Best players for me: Clark, Guzan, Bannan, Lowton and Bent doing a better target man impression than normal
- Holman working hard but not the best on the ball. El Ahmadi needs to adjust to the pace of English football
- I reckon Gabby or CNZ might be a threat as a sub. But I've thought that previously.
- Would love to have a Delph on the bench to come on and add some steel.
-
Ref is giving us bugger all and i fear we'll be down to 10 before the end.
-
Holman looks like the whole game is passing him by at the minute, hopefully he just needs a few games under his belt to adjust to life in the EPL.
Spot on. He needs to be given 10 games at least to get used to the pace of the game. It took Angel half a season but he came good after that.
-
nice to see the midfield working in pairs to harry their players into releasing the ball often to be picked up by a third Villa player
Hunger is what we've missed
-
I can't see us keeping this up, but as always when I predict a Villa defeat, I love being proved wrong.
-
watching in the pub with no commentary... we need to get the ball to Ireland more. Things happen when he gets the ball. I like Holmans work rate and would have him play off Bent and bring in a little more in the way of numbers in the middle with Bannan and KEA.
-
I would have snatched your arm off if offered this scoreline, a bit of composure in defence and we will win this

How come Bennett isn't playing? I thought he was legible as he wasn't signed on deadline day.
-
Compared to the first two games this is a lot better. By and large, a decent all round performance but need another goal, as one is never enough and Pardew will no doubt have them fired up for the second half, but PL needs to do the same, no resting on what they've got.
Given the new players becoming available, I hope they all realise they need to perform to keep their shirts.
Come on Villa, lets stick it up Pardew.
-
Good so far. We're away from home against a very good side. I think we're doing very well. I think Holman's been okay. He's not had much time on the ball when he's been in the attacking third, but he's worked hard, got in some good positions. He looks fitter than he did at West Ham. He was struggling with injury then. He's certainly been a damn sight more effective than CNZ would be. I mean Holman isn't technically brilliant, but he can play. His work-rate is really useful. Reminds me of Kuyt at Liverpool. Underrated for what he did, but was always in the team for a reason.
Ireland's working hard. Bent's not been given much time and space. A few times he's had it and you just wish he was a better footballer, but he's not as comfortable on the ball some players. Still, he looks likely to score today with more service.
Weimann is struggling to get into the game. I'd like to see Gabby. I doubt he's actually close to being ready though. If we grab a 2nd goal, I'd love to see Bowery get 10-15 minutes.

Job half done. Its important we can keep going forward whenever possible. We don't want an alamo situation.
-
Solid 1st half, let's keep it going boys
-

Agree, nice to have a manager who picks players on form and who will drop players if they don't perform.
-
I do feel that we may end up losing today but I think most of us thought we would.
What is encouraging apart from being 1-0 up is that we appear to be improving and learning at a faster rate than was expected.
The majority of these are young players and the system and style is new, I still think at times we're overplaying. Almost as though they want to make no long balls whatsoever, Newcastle have looked dangerous getting the ball into the box as did West Ham. Perhaps occasionally mixing it up is wise but credit the team for sticking to the gameplan and keeping it short.
I think if we give this team 10 games to bed in and not be too near the bottom come the back end of the season we may start to see some great stuff, and we'll all be in a warm, happy place :)
-
Hunting the ball in packs was a feature of Norwich last year, and it's good to see us finally doing it.

Ah, shame that. Will he be back for the Swansea game?
-
Newcastle fans moaning about two penalties they 'should' have had.
-
in other news...Rangers 0-1 Elgin. Sweet!
-
Promising first half. Better pressing, more urgency, more chances created. Considering the players we have to come in I'm becoming more optimistic. This would be a massive win if we can hold on.

And if we don't let's not get too down-hearted, we look to be on the road to a better place than the last few years!
-
It's so refreshing after the last couple of years to see us playing a higher tempo, passing game. Regardless of the final result today I'm more positive about the future than I have been for ages. I think once he's got the new signings bedded in PL will do a great job for us
-
This may well be a season of transition, but we need to at least draw from this position. Teams can very quickly get cast adrift in this league. Keep it up lads!
-
Im watching the match with a Norweigan commentry. I think Holman is putting a 120% effort in. Dont see the point of Bannan (apart from the cross). Still very impressive lads keep it going.

I fully expect so.
-
according to the 1/2 time stats, both teams have had 6 shots, Noocastle have only had one on target, whereas Villa hve had 5 out of their 6 shots on target
-
our goal was our 5th attempt to Newcastles 0 at that point.
The pressing, the playing the ball on the ground is great, will still do well to get anything from this. Great effort so far though.
-
Nervous but that's the best I've seen from the Villa in a while c'mon 2 more and our goal difference is zero and that could equate to three draws!!!

Let's hope he works out better than the last injured Middlesbrough player we bought, who is currently second choice left back at Liverpool.

Missing TSM already?????

Here we go, come on lads!

-
What makes Newcastle such a dangerous side is that they can just send the ball up to Ba and Cisse and it will stick and things will come of it. Hopefully with Benteke to come it may be the same for us
-
shit corner
-
Positive start to the second half

Bigots 2-1 up now.
-
Rubbish from Lowton
-
I really don't like that stupid, ineffective 'floated' corner Bannan keeps putting in!
-
First chance I've really had to see us play this season, and bloody hell it turns out we can actually pass and move after all! Good start to the second half...we look great.
-

I thought that Liverpool lost !!
-
Bent was too slow there
-
Side show bob falls over every time Weimann breaths on him.
-
Some of the freekick Newcastle are getting are ridicuolous.
-
The crowd will get on their backs soon, this is great from Villa.
-
brad jnr looking the part
-
We've come out well here.
-
Strange movement from Bent then. Should have carried on into the box. Promising start to the second half though.
-
Good game.
-
brad jnr looking the part
Good save there too.
-
Strange movement from Bent then. Should have carried on into the box. Promising start to the second half though.
I was praising Bent esrlier for his increased willingness in this game to drop deeper and help out, but he got it all wrong there! He should have got himself in the box. I suppose he's adapting his new instructions like the rest of them.
-
Like to see Gabby come on at some point.
-
Great to hear us out-singing the best fans in the world, wish I was there today.
-
Haha, just went on that newcastle board again, they are giving out about villa biased commentary!
-
Like to see Gabby come on at some point.
Me too, I'd bring him on for Weimann I thnk.
-
Like the way we try to pass from the back. Might not come off al the time, but you never know until you try.
-
To steal a phrase from The Wire, Holman's getting right up into their shit.
-
We really need a second here
-
Guzan looks so much better with balls into the box these days. Looks quality.
Villa looking really good after a sloppy start. Come on lads!
-
Manure losing 2-1, which is always amusing.
-
The commentator I'm listening to just stated that Newcastle will be unhappy with all the 50/50 decisions that Villa are getting!
-
Still immpressed with Lowton. Looks a good signing so far.
-
The commentator I'm listening to just stated that Newcastle will be unhappy with all the 50/50 decisions that Villa are getting!
That made m laugh as well.
-
Good game.
cheers Bruce
-
Some good stuff there, I think we could win this one, kiss of death...
-
How many times has Ben Arfa been called a magician today?
-
Manure losing 2-1, which is always amusing.
Are they blaming it on their kits again?
-
The commentator I'm listening to just stated that Newcastle will be unhappy with all the 50/50 decisions that Villa are getting!
That made m laugh as well.
I'd like to know what fucking game he's watching.
-
Bannan gives it away again.
-
Lovely defending there from Vlaar, very composed. Good player, I think.
-
Vlarr-y good!
-
Oh for crying out loud
-
Fuck
-
Oh shit.
-
Twunt
-
Fucks sake.
-
Fuck.
-
Bugger
-
Can't argue with that
-
Totally against the run of play. Geordie ******.
-
Gave him far too much room then
-
Must we keep conceding screamers? for fucks sake.
-
He's been shit as well.
-
ouch
-
Come on villa, stay strong
-
oh cock
-
Great goal, shame as we were on top
-
A lot like the Pienaar goal.
-
Shit. Completely against the run of play
-
Balls.
-
Holman's fault but it was a screamer.
-
Holman invited him inside.
-
Didn't close him down quick enough there.
-
Bloody hell. He hit that well. Git.
-
Have to say, what a strike though, no keeper in the world would have stopped that.
-
You don't save them.
Bollocks.
-
Well, that's just a really good goal, to be fair, not much we could have done. Just shows the need to start scoring more, though.
-
fuckin Bea Arthur
-
Bannan gives it away again.
What a slut.
-
what was Holman doing? Really poor.
-
Bastards,Gunnar be a long half hour now
-
We just had a good chance to go ahead again
-
Some good stuff there, I think we could win this one, kiss of death...
Sorry...
-
Lovely move Villa
-
Two players in front of him and neither closed him down.
Great shot though.
Come on Villa
-
Great finish but basic from Holman who showed him inside instead of away from goal. He's been poor to be honest.
-
Weimann should have done better there, but good football.
-
Great move then.
-
I'd like to know what speed that shot was, absolutely flew in.
-
Still looking positive going forward, come on lads!
-
Unlucky Weimann great move.
-
C'mon, we can still win this, nothing between the two teams really.
-
Gabby coming on.
-
Holman not had a good day
-
He certainly took it well, keeper had no chance
-
Watching the replay, Holman was really, fucking poor there.
-
Bad time to concede. I still don't think we'll lose today.
-
We've played some lovely stuff today.
Holman really let himself down there. All the chasing and harrying he's done all game and he gives up on Arfa. Cracking goal, but should have been closed down.
-
Great finish but basic from Holman who showed him inside instead of away from goal. He's been poor to be honest.
Seeing the replay that was poor by Holman, didn't even look interested in closing him down.
That said, great finish.
I fear for us now.
-
Get gabby on for weinmann!
-
I really like KEA, he rarely wastes a pass.
-
Gabby for Holman please cheers.
-
Getting sloppy need to calm it down.
-
Gabby on
-
Gabby on
-
Commentators like Newcastle much?
-
Don't care what the score is, first time for ages I have enjoyed watching a Villa game.

This ref is shit.
-
Don't care what the score is, first time for ages I have enjoyed watching a Villa game.
100% agree
Amen.
-
Van Persie just tried to chip a penalty and ballsed it right up
-
Who is this stupid fucking commentator on Fox?
-
Why's Bannan playuing that long?
-
How the fuck can the Jawdees think they are hard done by with the ref? He's given them virtually everything all game.
-
Ironic cheers from the home fans because they get a free-kick, I really don't like Newcastle.
-
Martin Tyler says the equalizer is good news for Southampton. Hmm!
-
Ow...that's got to hurt.
-
Ouch
-
Who is this stupid fucking commentator on Fox?
The Brummie is Dean Sturridge, not sure about the other one.
-
Broken nose?
-
Ouch.
-
Weird that Holman has been too quick to fly into tackles on the whole but invites the shot for their goal.
-
Painful.
-
Poor control from Bent there....
-
CN'Z on for Holman.
-
N'Zogbia coming on......
-
Does that count as an attempt on goal by Bent?
-
What happened to Holman? Some of us are relying on this thread for info :(
-

excellent.
-
KEA down.
-
don't tell me KEA is injured???
lady Luck what a twunt you are
-
He left Newcastle for Villa?
-
What happened to Holman? Some of us are relying on this thread for info :(
He let Ben Arfur come inside far too easy.
-
N'Zog to ram the 'Insomnia' humiliation down the Geordie's throats then with a barnstorming second half hat-trick.
-
KEA off. CN'Z on. Holman stays on the pitch.
-
Strange sub. Does N'Zog want to piss the boo boys off??? Let's hope so, but not sure.
-
I hope El-Ahmadi doesn't have a bad injury.
-
Fucking hell, we're a bit light in midfield now.
-
I'd be happy for the match to finish now. Getting that feeling.
-
Strange sub. Does N'Zog want to piss the boo boys off??? Let's hope so, but not sure.
The Villa boo boys or Geordie?
-
They're winning everything in the air in our box.
-
I'll take 1-1 now thank you very much.
-
man yooo miss a pen
-
I feel a bit sorry for Holman, was poor for the goal but has worked hard and has not once hidden, I think he just needs to get used to the pace of the game and show a bit more composure.
-
Come on villa
-
Holman looks fucked.
-
Holman looks tired.
-
man yooo miss a pen
Another one, or are you talking about the RVP balls up of a chip ?
-
I think I'd consider putting Clark in holding midfield and bringing Baker on for Holman to play alongside Vlaar.
-
Strange sub. Does N'Zog want to piss the boo boys off??? Let's hope so, but not sure.
The Villa boo boys or Geordie?
I presume it was the Newcastle fans booing loudest, though maybe I'm wrong...
-
Baker on for Holman and Clark into midfield? Just a thought.
-
man yooo miss a pen
Another one, or are you talking about the RVP balls up of a chip ?
same one
-
Ireland really should have score there
-
how did he miss that?
-
That should be 2-1. Shocking miss.
-
Should've hit the target surely?
-
Decent chance again.
-
how has he missed that?
-
Ireland really should have hit the target there! Good play from Gabby though!
-
Chance
-
C'mon Steve. You've gotta do better
-
What a fucking miss Ireland, Jesus.
-
We've had the chances to win this
-
Baker on for Holman and Clark into midfield? Just a thought.
Sorry Chipsticks.
-
Ireland should have scored.
-
Ireland really should have score there
He really should.
-
man yooo miss a pen
Another one, or are you talking about the RVP balls up of a chip ?
same
-
What a chance, arrfggh come on lads.
-
Ffs Ireland
-
Is Dean Sturridge a bluenose?
-
Shiggle.
-
For a team that are supposed to be flamboyant and challenging, Newcastle are pretty one dimensional.
-
Baker on for Holman and Clark into midfield? Just a thought.
Sorry Chipsticks.
Great minds think alike ;)
-
CNZ needs to work his socks off for the team now, help us get at least a point, they bloody deserve it
-
This game is crying out for Heskey...
-
This game is crying out for Heskey...
-
How can the ref give that foul either way? Fucking joke.
-
Stupid foul to give away.
-
Disgusting refereeing.
-
For a team that are supposed to be one dimensional Villa are flamboyant and challenging.
-
Wake up Bent FFS.
-
Great run gabby.
-
Bent could've done better with that aswell then! Not looked great today!
-
Fucks sake Bent
-
Almost in there
-
FFS Bent, hit it first time. What do you want, a signed invitation ?
-
Gabby did brilliantly there and Bent fucked it.
-
Lovely to see Agbonlahor in full flight again, great run.
-
Bent's been poor.
-
Too slow Bent
-
Bent needs to start scoring
-
Nice play Gabby, well in Lowton!
-
A confident Bent would have hit that first time.
-
Dirty bastard!
-
Why is that not a red card ?
-
RVP scored again, only a few mins to go.
-
Fuck me N'Zog was through then.
-
United score 2-2
-
Shirt pulling can never be accidental. Refs should clamp down more
-
We have playedvwellenough to win this. We do look like a work in progress though.
-
Bent's been avoiding to take some half chances as well. Hope he gets a lucky bounce sooner than later.
-
Whatever happens now, if Newcastle are suopposed to be top 6, then we'll be alright this season, and we'll have fun on the way.
-
Proud of the lads whatever the score!
-
RVP scored again, only a few mins to go.
Don't forget Fergy time
-
Red Mancs have equalized
-
Now I can see why he pissed Harry Redknapp off!!!
-
Villa are hanging on a bit now
-
RVP scored again, only a few mins to go.
Don't forget Fergy time
Wonder if we will get Geordie time?
-
We've looked organised and been good on the front and back foot.
-
We have playedvwellenough to win this. We do look like a work in progress though.
The nice thing being we have a bloke at he helm that is seemingly slowly but surely getting his point across. Very reassuring. And with a possible 5 new faces to come in next week, although I suspect Bowery won't be seen for a bit.
-
Good job that that wasn't Bea Arthur
-
Fuck off Pardew. Your overrated team are lucky to be level you twat.
-
We need to keep the ball a little better at this stage.
-
5 mins added time.
-
Five mins??? How the fook are there five mins
-
RVP scored again, only a few mins to go.
Don't forget Fergy time
Wonder if we will get Geordie time?
Yep..... 5 mins
-
5 mins injury time. Come on Villa
-
Yawn. Man U. Scripts. Cliches.
-
RVP 2-3
-
Persie hatrick
-
WTF - 5 minutes of stoppage time ?
-
Van Persie wins it in Fergie time.
Maybe we can win our game in Lamby time?
-
Lichaj takes one for the team!
-
RVP scored again in Fergie time. Good news for us I suppose, we are currently now out of the relegation zone.
-
Shirt pulling can never be accidental. Refs should clamp down more
And Lichaj does the same.
-
God they make you sick on Sky only the Premier League writes scripts like this.
-
5 mins to nick this.
-
No doubt when Guzan comes for those.
-
Bannan loses possession an awful lot for somebody who thinks he's a great passer.
-
Bannan loses possession an awful lot for somebody who thinks he's a great passer.
Yep, agreed
-
Sturridge is unbelievable! How blinkered can you get?!
-
Guzan booked for time-wasting. Of which he is guilty. He's played well today though.
-
Shirt pulling can never be accidental. Refs should clamp down more
And Lichaj does the same.
Yep, Eric should have been off as well
-
Bannan loses possession an awful lot for somebody who thinks he's a great passer.
Also takes a shit corner for a great passer.
-
Fuck off Pardew. Your overrated team are lucky to be level you twat.
He will be moaning like Wenger after this.
-
This is where we need to show a bit of experience, put your foot on the ball
-
Bleedin' Hell, N'Zogbia! What has happened to him?! I'm sure he was good once!
-
The Fergie love fest is in full swing on Sky
-
We're getting really ragged now.
-
Stupid foul by Holman
-
Lacking composure here.
-
When there's 2 mins left need to know how to keep the ball, slow things down
-
what a fucking save
-
GUZAN. FUCKING HELL
-
Great save
-
Very good save from an excellent free kick! Well done Brad!
-
Great save, Brad
-
Well done Brad
-
My heart is in my mouth. Really want us to get a point
-
I love Brad.
-
Mr Guzan. take a bow
-
He could have caught that :)
-
Got to be pleased with a point, I thought they would comfortably beat us.
-
Big Brad Mk II just grabbed us a point there!!
-
REALLY happy with Guzan today...
-
Great great save.
-
I know this might sound a little churlish but I think Guzan should have caught that.
-
Well played boys. Massive improvement.
-
Why the fuck did Holman foul him when we had someone coming out to meet him, What a prat.
-
That'll do nicely.
I think that Shay can look forward to a few weeks rest on the bench
-
Brilliant Villa, a great point, one more than we were all expecting I think...
-
Don't we still have a sub left?
-
Great point for us
-
Good game, happy with how we played.
-
Well played lads a much improved performance, I feel much better about things now.
I'm off for my Sunday dinner and a chilled bottle of bud, ciao.
-
Conceded too much possession in the second half, lucky in the end to hang on, but we did.
Well done lads, although we racked up a few cards.
-
Excellent... First time in ages I felt proud watching a Villa performance. Now we know what this team can do, and I'm sure they will build on that.
-
Very happy with that point.
-
Very good performance from a lot of players. We are on the way. I enjoyed that!
-
Thank fuck for that. I can't even watch or listen to the game but that was still a stressful experience following on here and on the bbc. Great point.
-
Thats a big improvement, up and running at last.
-
Believe we can have a good season, especially with the players we have to bring in and the way we played in the first hour today was a great improvement.
Things looking up at B6

Firstly, Lee Probert is a shocking ref, not every foul is a yellow card you prick! Secondly, theres a Villa team that for a long time has a game plan about what to do. Think Benteke will give us a nice addition of power and height and Brad in goals looks like my first choice for me.
Well done Villa, well done Lambert....this could be fun.
-
Shame we couldn't get all 3 points, but I'd have taken a point beforehand.
And it sounds as though we can actually be competitive.
-
I think that was as good an away performance as we produced in the top 6 MON days. We were combative, dangerous and though we did hang on a bit, we did it pretty well.
That wasn't the performance of a bottom-3 team
-
Will be interesting to see what MOTD pillocks say now.
-
Not sure what's going on with us at the minute; so disjointed and not our normal selves. Cabaye in particular looks a shadow of last season. Switching back to 4-4-2 doesn't seem to be working, we should stick with 4-3-3.
Good point at the end of a day we could well have come away with nothing, saved by the wonder that is Hatem Ben Arfa.

I though the ref was great today watching the game.
