There's a rumour he's off to Hull. So if any Hull fans are reading, please don't listen to anyone who says he's no good. They're just trying to keep him here. He is, truly, a cross between Carlos Alberto and Paolo Maldini.
-
Well, fair enough and good ridd, I mean good luck to him, but............................we can't keep leaking players like this without serious replenishment of our player pool.
-
I can't believe we're prepared to let him leave. First Young, then Downing, now Beye. This is the last straw for me.
-
Hull will be getting one hell of a player. Gutted ;-(
-
And he will cost you no more than 3 grand a week.
-
A sad day for the Villa if he leaves, I might send my ST back if goes. Bastards!
-
Great player, I can't believe we are letting him go.
-
Have just turned back to June on my Villa Calendar to have a little cry...
-
I must admit, during that debut against Wigan a couple of years back i actually forgot myself and thought it was Paul McGrath back in the team. And he's actually got better since.
-
What the fuck is going on at the club? Selling our very best players like Hab in this way.
A great loss.
-
Very sad day for us if HB leaves, we are a selling club it seems.
-
Are we chipping in for a statue?
-
Bye, bye, Beye, Beye, goodbye
Bye, Beye, Beye, bye, bye,
Bye bye Beye, don't make me cry
Bye baby, Beye, bye bye.
-
It's a sad day for this club, not only losing this defensive titan but also coming to realise that we just cannot compete with the Hull City's of this world.
-
Rumour has that he's only on £500 a week as well. Whoever signs him is going to get a highly committed player on a pittance of a wage.
-
This is a disgrace. Ellis Out.
-
It's a sad day for this club, not only losing this defensive titan but also coming to realise that we just cannot compete with the Hull City's of this world.
I agree but also think we can't stand in the way of a player who wants the chance to play CL football, after all this time with us.
-
I`m sure this deal will come back and haunt Mcleish for the rest of his long career
-
Keep him. He's our best right back.
-
As President of the Official Habib Beye Fan Club, if Villa sell him, I'm off to Hull. He was always too good for the Villa and you know it.
-
When he first joined the Villa - Habib was going to rent my friends house (who'd moved to Dubai) in Four Oaks. Deal was all done and about to be signed only for Habib's wife to turn up unannounced with a tape measure to check the size of the garage as he was worried his Ferrari wouldn't fit inside. Apparently it didn't so they pulled out.
Says it all really......let's hope they have bigger garages in Hull!
-
The african Dani Alves.
-
After waiting patiently for his chance, Habib has wowed this season with his appearances. And yet it appears this was just a ruse by the management to once again part with one of our best players. I'm fuming.
-
If he is allowed to leave, that will be it for me as far as the Villa are concerned. Finished.
-
I remember bumping into him at a very nice hotel in bar in Brum about 18 months ago. He was there with Young and Petrov, plus their other halfs... Young and Petrov were pretty professional, drinking cokes while Beye was doing shots! Sums him up really.
-
In an age of money grabbing mercenaries, the type who are only interested in the next Ferrari or Bentley - Habib Beye reminds us of older values. Of a time when a player would just play for the shirt, desperate to make the fans happy.
Villa fans used to have a famous song My Eyes Have Seen The Glory (that Tottingham have since rogered to death and claimed as their own). Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever see us win the FA Cup again -never mind reclaim the outright record.
But at least I can say I witnessed Monday, Tuesday Habib Beye at his majestic best.
-
I'm sure it's not true but *if* he does he go, then a little part of me will die. :(
Still, thanks for all of the awesome memories, Monsieur Beye.
-

Seen him and n'zogbia in sobar sat night up town...
-
Ran Downing close for player of the season last year. Top professional, hope he plays great for Hull if he goes. Sad day for the club.
-
Legend
-
You can't blame him wanting to go. Hull is one of the nicest places in Britain to live, with charming beach front bars, top quality restaurants and it's very own micro-climate that at times makes you feel like you're on the Cote d'Azur.
And Championship League football too.
If you're reading this Habib - I envy you. Good luck.
-
This will be the day football dies for me !
-
If this is true, I want Faulkner's resignation letter on a f*cking platter
-
If Beye goes, I'll buy back the kidney I gave away in celebration at buying him in the first place. Then I'll stamp on it and feed it to the polar bears at Dudley Zoo.
-
I hope he comes back as a fan
-
Great servant to the Club, I trust we'll be giving him a testimonial.
-
Hull, take my first born - but please, please not my Habib Beye.
-
Despite our lack of options i think its wise to see beye leave. He did well enough in his rb and cb roles but its time to move him on
-
Good to see there's talk of a permanent reminder, but who needs a statue? I think his prominent position in the club's brilliant Villa 50 series this summer stands as a fitting monument to one of Villa's finest post-war players. It'll be tough if he departs for The Stadium of Fish, but at least we'll always have those wonderful and plentiful reserve team memories. Legend, in this instance, is the right - and perhaps only - suitable shorthand.
-
Maybe this sounds hippie, but we've enjoyed the services of Habib Beye for several seasons now, wouldn't it be egoistical to keep him, rather than let another set of football fans experience not only the wonder of Habib Beye at right back, but the magic of Habib Beye at right back ... in your team?
-
Why? Why oh why?
I'm definately not renewing the season ticket that I didn't renew because I didn't have one to renew in the first place.
-
I saw this coming, didn't renew, and am now utterly vindicated.
A sad day. Good luck at Hull, Habib, you will be missed.
-
Despite our lack of options i think its wise to see beye leave. He did well enough in his rb and cb roles but its time to move him on
But why?
He's 33 (soon to be 34 in October). Do you really want to see him spending the best years of his career at another club?
-
My nipples get erect just seeing his name in print. Oh Habib, how could you do this to us?
-
I would rather lose Bent than Beye. This is the final straw .......
-
I'll be throwing my season ticket in McCleishs face after this.
-
Despite our lack of options i think its wise to see beye leave. He did well enough in his rb and cb roles but its time to move him on
No he is a vital part of our dressing room.
-
I dont understand why people want him to stay. Hes hardly been involved and like salifou despite a cult status its best interest for him to move on. I think its clear hes not to be involved in alex mac plans well how i see it. Okie i respect people dont want another to leave us further short but maybe we dont need him as we have promise of herd and lichaj.
I mean herd did very well and if we dont sign a right back then i think these two can vie for this role. beye wont be missed by those calling on him to stay if they look at situation in all honesty.
-
Its just one thing after another at our tin pot, piss poor club, good luck Habib from a very disgruntled Villain!
-

You're wrong there. I usually respect your judgement and regard you as a pretty shrewd judge of a player, as witnessed by your championing of Alan Smith and Jimmy Bullard, but Habib Beye is class. Letting him go would be akin to the time we passed over the chance to sign Ian Rush when he was with Chester.
-

Has the page with the word: 'IRONY' on been ripped out of your dictionary?
-
Nah, Ian Rush was shite. Habib Beye makes Ian Rush look like an Acrington Stanley player.
-
Nah, Ian Rush was shite. Habib Beye makes Ian Rush look like an Acrington Stanley player.
Exactly (said in mock Scouse accent)
-
Not the Ian Rush thing again, guys. Let it go.
-
Brice: "That when a shirt looks ironed -it's irony."
-
Not the Ian Rush thing again, guys. Let it go.
No I won't, not if we get rid of Beye.

Are you even a Villa fan? C'mon, fess up. You started out posting nothing but shite about odd football bets, and now your posts read like somebody who is more of a rugby fan on the wind up.
-
I hope the club shop is going to reimburse all those poor sods who paid a small fortune to have his name put on the back of their shirt.
-
Well i like to do sports bets it was new experience i dont know why people question im villa fan its annoying !!
Btw it was rubbbish i was posting i was waiting for season undwerway actually !
Sorrie !
So can we stick to the thread is beye leaving or not??

If after Beyè we should get rid of Dunne too, I could committ a suicide I'm afraid.

Where are you from Brice? Live local or from further afield? Your spelling of sorry either makes me think you are a teenage boy accentuating the ending of the word as if his parents had told him not to do something, or you are not from the UK?
-
Attention Hull. Here is one of Habib Beye's routine goals. This one scored in his very short and little known spell for Norwich City when they played er..Charlton, yes Charlton a couple of years ago. They nicknamed him Josimar. He scores goals like this all the time. Honest. I can also arrange transport to the KC if required. Just PM me.
-
Disgraceful decision. Sack teh board!!!1

Awesome. It inspired me to support the Villa who I have been following since 1932.
-
It's bad enough seeing Ashley Young in that hideous red shirt -and doing well.
Times that by a thousand if Beye turns on the style in Hull. As he inevitably will.
-
Well I can only see Hull ripping up the Championship if this happens. I've actually only just stopped crying after hearing that this deal could happen.
I love him more than my own mother. In a way, he's been like a mother to me.
-
No im not from uk originally but i can still support villa:)thanks

funny bastard lol

The Senegalese Prince of Hearts.
-
I don't want to live in a world where legends like Habib Beye no longer pull on the famous Villa shirt.
If Randy lets him go then he is spoiling for a rumble with the wrong person, I shall give him the thrashing of his life.
-
One of the best fucking players we've ever had. If he goes then I'll flush my own head down the toilet repeatedly until I drown in my own piss (I would have already pissed in the toilet before I flushed it, such is my anger about this situation).
-
If Beye goes the kitten dies.
-
First they came for Ashley Young
And I didn't speak out because I didn't rate Ashley Young.
Then they came for Stewart Downing
And I didn't speak out because I didn't rate Stewart Downing.
Then they came for Luke Young
And I didn't speak out because I didn't rate Luke Young.
Then they came for Habib Beye
And that is where I draw the line.
Hands off, Hull.
-
Habib Beye is shit
oh hold on what game we playing again?
Edit: Habib Beye is shit
I tried
-
TV, I'm so mad right now I'm actually punching MYSELF in the face.
But when I'm finished a whole party pack of whoopass is coming your way.
-

I'm fed up of your negative attitude Mr Toronto. What would a Maple Syrup sucking Yank reject know about the best player at our club. I blame the time difference.
-
I hope that Yank Doug Ellis Randy Lerner is going to pay for me to have my Habib Beye tattoo lasered-off.
If that overrated show-pony Cristiano Ronaldo is worth £80 million we'd better be getting at least £200 million plus all the fish we can eat from Hull for Habib Beyeckenbauer.
I haven't been this upset since Isaiah Osbourne left. It's time for a change. Randy Out.
-
I've just had a thought, I hope the club don't read this and decide enough is enough and decide to keep him to keep us happy.
-
Habib Beye is shit
oh hold on what game we playing again?
Edit: Habib Beye is shit
I tried
Tut tut tut letting the side down TV.

I just got off work, so I'm all knackered and messed up in the head. What was I thinking? I'll practice in the mirror first and use other suitable names like Penrice, Harewood, Salifou, Callaghan as a dress rehearsal before I try this again.
Gary Penrice is a pile of balls. In fact he's worse less than a pile of balls
Your better off signing a chair than Nigel Callaghan
This isn't going to be easy

He's 33 (soon to be 34 in October). Do you really want to see him spending the best years of his career at another club?
KG don't be churlish. Habib has provided good service to us and deserves this chance at Hull City. I wish him the best and yes it will hurt to see him in that gold shirt.
.
-
Well I can only see Hull ripping up the Championship if this happens. I've actually only just stopped crying after hearing that this deal could happen.
I love him more than my own mother. In a way, he's been like a mother to me.
Understand your grief. By the way that mercy killing of your mother was justified it's just that using your chainsaw was a bit naive.
-

No he is a vital part of our dressing room.
Yes mostly he is not RB or CB he is usually Left Back in the dressing room!
-

Well all footballers dream of Championship League and let's face it we are not going to give him that ever and all that at Hull to boot...oh lucky man.

at Walsall.

It's a sad day for this club, not only losing this defensive titan but also coming to realise that we just cannot compete with the Hull City's of this world.
Lee when have we ever competed with Hull City FC? They always have been a step away from us!
-
Disgraceful decision. Sack teh board!!!1
No don't be silly. Losing Habib will be devastating enough, to lose Paul Faulkner would be unbearable.
-
If the board allow this the fans will be Beye-ing for blood.
-
First they came for Ashley Young
And I didn't speak out because I didn't rate Ashley Young. we had Habib Beye

Then they came for Habib .....
-
obviously had his head turned. It's not just the likes of man utd and spurs at this sort of thing.
Rather than run the risk of damaging dressing room spirit, I think it's best if we don't stand in the way of habibs ambition, and part on amicable terms.
This one will silence the"why did we sell Cahill" voices for some time to come,of that, there is no doubt.
-Does anyone have any idea what Newcastles sell on clause is likely to amount to?
-
-Does anyone have any idea what Newcastles sell on clause is likely to amount to?
From memory the first £12m of any transfer fee goes straight to them.
-
Even from Australia I can see it's a mistake to let this sensational footballer go.
-
What will i do with my 30000 petition to rename Birmingham's beach Habib Bay? Selling Beye really is a sand in the shoe moment
-
With a heavy heart it's best that Habib goes. It's scandalous that a player of his calibre and dedication isn't showcasing his talent for 90 mins week in week out.
Although I fear it will come back to bite us when he scores a hat-trick against us next season in the PL. :(
-
That's it for me. Lerner Out.
-
Losing Young and Downing doesn't even compare to this.Gutted.
-
I think this is the turning point we were all talking about on the other thread. Forget draws against stoke, carling cup finals, fa cup semi's, uefa round of 32 ties, Mon walking, houlliers comments etc, this is THE defining point of my villa supporting history and the board are making the wrong decision.
Gutted.
-
When certain clubs retire shirts in honour of former players who die, I'd like to see Villa retire Wednesday if Beye leaves.
Monday, Tuesday, Habib Beye. It just feels right somehow. Sheffield Habib Beye has a nice ring to it as well.
I know that he hasn't actually died, but a part of me would if he leaves.
-
This is most confusing thread on here !
-
Will he become Tiger Beye?
Apologies if this dreadful pun appears elsewhere in this thread...

I'd imagine you're the only one confused.
-
Would anyone fancy coming down the ground and wishing Habib a fond farewell?
I suggest we sing the Bay City Rollers classic 'Bye Bye Beye Beye'.
-
This is most confusing thread on here !
Really? I find it relatively straightforward. Habib Beye is one of the finest players to have ever pulled off the claret and blue shirt. His wit, wisdom and all-round good-guy persona has endeared him to literally tens of people.

I went down to the club car park this morning to commit ritual suicide in protest. I poured £5 worth of petrol over my head and set light to it. I managed to singe my eyebrows

I hope this move is in a-Beye-ance.

This fire sale is getting crazy now, I'm sure it rivals DFS!
Now Beye! what is going on?!He's as good as Miguel if not better, Hull fans you've got quite a player on your hands ;)
P.S Fancy taking Ireland too for a pack of rocky robins and a Caramac bar?!

Sob!
BeyeWatch (http://www.beyewatch.co.uk/)
To the tune of Sally Cinnamon by the Stone Roses...
"Until Habib we were never happy
We had no right back
Then we signed him as a defender
Who could also attack.
He bombs down the right
All day and all night
Oh we wish we had more
Players that we adore
Ba-ba-ba-ba Beye, he is brilliant
He just never gives up
How we wish we could see him at Wembley
Lifting the FA Cup
He loves to play in black and white
He’s always up for the fight
He won’t back down he won’t give in
Habib Beye, you are our world, wo’rrrld
See him put the wingers back
In the place that they belong
On their arses, on the touchline, in front of the Geordie throng
Sent to us from Marseille
Habib Beye, you are our world"
To the theme tune from 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' by Carl Sigman
"Habib Beye, Habib Beye,
Gliding down the wing.
Habib Beye, Habib Beye,
Putting Crosses in.
He’s dynamite in attack, Fearless in defence
Habib Beye, Habib Beye, Habib Beye"
To Lisa Stansfields abysmal 'I've been around the world (and I can't find my baby)...
"Just got in the ground and I, I, I,
I can't find Habib Beye
And I've been told the news by some guy, that
He aint gonna play
And I don't know where he may be
Habib Beye
but we'd better find him"
To the Killers' 'Mr Brightside
"He came here from outta Marseille and now he’s doing just fine.
His name is Habib Beye and he’s got it all
We play him at right back and he loves to attack
Creating chances all day when he’s on the ball
Habib Beye, you have always got to play
We are stronger when you’re picked
You don’t care when you get kicked
And it’s worth the price we pay
Just to watch you Habib beye
Never on the left are you
You’re on the right side"
To the tune of 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen (currently X-Factor Alexndra's UK number 1 and best performed in our view by Jeff Buckley).
"Now I've heard of players from Senegal
Faye and Diao, I've seen them all
But you don't really care for El Hadji Diouf do ya?
The right back king
That Big Sam bought
The immovable wall, that Blackburn fought
The twenty one who's name is Habib Beye
Habib Beye
Habib Beye
Habib Beye
Habib Beye"
"Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say
But nothin comes out when they move they lips
Just a buncha gibberish
And muthahubbards act like they forgot about Beye"
To the tune of 'Some Might Say' By Oasis:
"Some might say Bosingwa's the prem's best right back...
Go and tell it to those who've seen Habib Beye
Cos some might say he will not only fight back
He will destroy all that stands in his way ...
Some might say there is only one Habib Beye
Some might say there is only one Habib Beye"

I'm just hoping it's a sick joke and Beye will sign a 5 year contract.
He'd be like a new signing.

I haven't been able to sleep since this rumour started.

I'm shocked and disappointed to see this thread has not reached 500 pages like the other transfer sagas.
It's almost like people want him to leave

Name habib obviously is associated with the word love. More appropriately "darling".
Darling we will miss you.
Bye Love.
-
Arsenal coming in with a late bid apparently. As if. When Beye has clearly signalled his intentions to go to Hull!
Artsene makes wild and reckless promises of top 4, CL games and free tickets to the National Opera. It'll take a lot more than that to make our lad swerve from his honest working class no-nonsense French/Senagalese aspirations which have led him unashamedly to focus upon Hull as the platform - dare I say stage? - for the next element of his creative work, involving the bit where he comes back for the weekend and water skis down the face of the Gas Street Basin.
-
Rumours all over Twatter of Barcelona offering us £30 million plus Alves. They can sod off, as far as I'm concerned.
-
Alves? Could he do a job for us?
-

Apparently he's very good at repairing shoes.
-
30 million + someone who can repair shoes, nah I'd rather keep Habib
-
I have been going to Villa Park for 45 years and Habib Beye is the best full back I have seen at our club - John Gidman is not fit to lace his boots.
Didn't Big Eck mention about him turning him into a centre half and stopping Heskey from taking over in that position ? If he goes to Hull, they have got themselves a future Paul McGrath.
-
nahaa Alves isn't good enough to tie Habib's shoe laces.

I don't blame him, if you want to blame anyone blame martin O fucking neill, he's the one that put him on a long contract on silly pay, Beye is just doing what most footballers do...Fuck all for a lot of pay
-
We're alright for defenders now, no takers for Beye, Cuellar or Lowry, Herd looks like a good right back, Warnock, Collins and Dunne are back on form, Hutton's joined and Stephens' on his way. Only Young has left.
