Yeah, I think that's a closer comparison.

The slight difficulty with graphs like that is that it can't really account for the players around them. For the last 18months progressive passes for Wolves haven't been easy because they've had to defend so deep so often that there's not really anyone on to make those passes to, so instead the players in there hold onto it longer and try to let the team get into some sort of attacking shape.

That's not to say he's going to suddenly turn into prime Cowans but rather that those charts can be a little misleading. From what I've seen of him he works hard, wins the ball really well and then is able to either carry it out or shift it on elsewhere with a reasonable amount of consistency. I'm hoping that with us he can take a little more risks to find dangerous passes. I think what Emery would like 2 players in there who are both roughly equal on all of those measures but with a slight bias towards the duels and possession won metrics. I think he really wants Onana to become that player and he's been encouraging Kamara to get forward a lot more.

Who are these local rivals he is discussing?

Has Gomes signed for Walsall?

Mind the gap inbreds  ;)

Further evidence of this theory being the way he took DL's position in the Brazil team / squad.

If we can upgrade the attacking options then we wont need on the guile of a player like Tielemans as much anyway. A good right winger alongside Rogers and Manzambi should create enough chances with a solid midfield of Kamara and Gomes behind them.
