We've signed a few Brazilians over the last few years and none have really had that Brazilian flair you'd expect coming from the home of sexy football. Gomes has it and with the passion and drive you'd more associate with Argentina (too soon?). I think he's a cracking player and one we most certainly need to maintain having one of the best midfields in the league.

I'm not going to get too excited until he's put pen to paper with Unai sitting next to him. We really need this one to land.

I think you could state that for most of them nowadays and not just the ones we sign. Neymar was probably the last one and he wasn't a jot on his predecessors.

True. Neymar was a circus act, rarely a footballer. Gomes is a proper footballer but still has that special added flair to put a big smile on your face. He's the real deal.

Considering he spends half the year recording the Rockford Files that’s pretty impressive from James Garner

After watching that video and say he was more of long term SJM replacement. He looks more than decent.

Joao runs in a very upright style, kind of like he's struggling with his own Rockford Files.

Youri (spit) was meant to be on a huge wage for us (Not the reputed £200K per week with them scummers) so reduced the age and the wage - i like it

The show reel looks fabulous

Has Youri issued a leaving statement yet to us Villa fans?

Absolutely. he doesn't have the arse trick but he does have his own special way of shielding the ball. Like SJM, he's not the tallest player out there but he's not missed a meal and looks well solid.

yes

Youri Tielemans: "There are moments in football that are harder than any match you will ever play. Saying goodbye is one of them. From the first day that I arrived at Aston Villa, I felt welcomed. Wearing the Villa shirt has been a privilege. Together we shared unforgettable moments. I want to thank all of you.

"All the people that worked tirelessly to make Aston Villa such a special club. Most of all, thank you to the supporters.  You never asked for perfection, only commitment, honesty and heart. I hope I gave you exactly that every time that I wore the Villa badge.

"The club will always have a special place in my heart. A part of my heart will always belong at Villa Park. And for one last time, Up the Villa."

Yeah, I'm a little worried about this one as well. Sure it will all pan out mind.

Wow I have only just sen this. That has made my day in an otherwise terrible week. I really like him.

I thought one of the old Big Heads would have swooped for him, (I thought I had read he was nailed on for Plop).

£ for £ that is a good swap for Youri.

Well done the Villa.

He won't want to be benched then!

Same. As I said, 'pen to paper', can't happen fast enough.

This was a nice surprise after being without internet all day. Just had a text from my dad, (Wolves fan).

He’s brilliant. He was a superb player for Wolves. I’m really pleased about this signing.

All day! It was 12:20 when you posted the above. Touch leaves and lie on grass, it's the mid-point of summer, you don't need tech!
