Like others nothing against the people of Rwanda but I can’t get behind our club sport washing. Some things are worth more than football and this decision is absolutely shit by the club.

I saw there was some chat about Manzambi's relationship to DR Congo and how this would affect the rumoured transfer. IIRC Ezri Konsa's half Congolese. We've seen closer to home how Ukrainian sportspeople have reacted to anything Russian and I'd credit the same to Congolese people and those with roots.

The problem isn’t with Rwandans, it’s specifically the regime. The ordinary people of Rwanda are victims too.

Konsa and Manzambi's parental backgrounds are the same I think - Congolese father, Angolan mother.

Francesco Calvo....

In terms of geopolitics; I don’t believe it’s the place of football clubs to opine on these serious issues. We have a responsibility to our fans and our communities to be true to our values, but not to weigh in on issues much more serious than football which we are not experts in."

Moral cowardice writ large.

And remember kids....

The club could get extremely annoyed if its inbox (fancomplaints@avfc.co.uk) is flooded with complaints about this outrage.

So don't do it! ;)
