Don't see why we would want JJ back, he scored two league goals last season and just one the season before. Plenty of better alternatives out there.

JJ hasn't done much for 3 seasons, it's time we look forward not back.

Did very well for Newcastle out of position in CM a lot of the time. Their fans like him and seems to have got over his injury troubles. Manzambi seems a similar player though so that probably ends any chance of a return.

I'd have Ramsey back in a heartbeat, he's built to play the way we do. But then I'd also have Keinan Davis back as well, and am intrigued at how good Matty Targett could be under Emery.

I'd absolutely have Davis.

Same, if he can stay fit, which appears to be the case in Italy, he's a very good player. As I've said before, I'd have seriously considered him taking the world cup spot they gave to Toney.

People on here have spent years moaning about Watkins' finishing and want to bring Davis back?

Yeah, it's a bit of a leap.

I wouldn't be relying on him for goals, but he's a hell of a weapon to have and I'd imagine he's a nightmare for defenders. As we know from years of tedious Watkins discourse, there's more to playing up front than scoring goals!

Well we never replaced Heskey (or asked for him in the first place).

Obviously this is all hypothetical as we won't be, but surely Madjo is pretty much custom-designed to be Davis-but-better?

It's a good job I've never really complained about Watkins finishing, instead pointing out that his conversion rate is pretty much average for the premier league.

I reckon Davis, or more likely Madjo, is exactly the sort of player to push Rogers into being a real goalscoring threat.

In this period I'd say Griezmann is the great prodigal son story.
