The only way it would be a different price to the one agreed with Newcastle is if we agreed to restructure it to comprise a smaller fee up front with a potentially larger final fee, which may suit both parties.

Yes, I had not thought of this. But I don’t think that would help us, as the asset would still go on the accounts at the full value, and that can only be amortised over five years anyway.

A restructure would be most useful to us if we had cash flow issues, which I’m not aware we have.

Maybe someone with more accounting knowledge can shed some light?

Transfers balances are added up then the profit/loss is averaged out over three years.

However, under our settlement with UEFA, we have to record a positive balance on transfers.

Scored 3 goals at the WC.
20 yrs old.
6'0"
He's already played 38 Bundesliga/European games for Freiburg.
16 full caps and 6 goals

4yrs left on his contract, £15-16k pw.

Suspect we'll be selling to raise funds.

Not even signed and we're selling, it's a record!

He looks a talent.

But mad to think we're spending that sort of £ on a 20 year old with only 38 club games behind him.

You have to spend money to make money. We could double it in 2 years probably.

The thought process should be, we don’t need to. A long contract and he’s becoming a major star then we are trebling it if needs be.

It would be nice to keep some younger players and, if we do have to sell, remove some of the many acquisitions we made with pre-decimal currency.

If Manzambi costs £50 over 5 years & £100k / week. Then that's £15m a season addition to SCR.

We can easily cover this season that by shifting Bailey & Guessand.

I believe that if we get our SCR below 70%, our UEFA restrictions are lifted next summer.

We won't need to sell Rogers to pay for Manzambi.

Signing players who did well against us when their team lost a cup final is a big step up from signing players who did well against us when their team got relegated.

I can’t say I remember him doing too much in the final.
None of their players put in stellar individual performances.

What was noticeable about Manzambi was that when they were trying to get back in the match, he came very deep and central (for a supposed wide forward) and received a lot of the ball to get things going in the playmaker/quarterback role.

It was striking, I thought, that in a squad full of experienced and old heads, their youngest player was given such responsibility. There were echos of "give it to Jack".

Where will he play in our team, I know he played against us in the Final and was poor, so who will we eventually replace in our team?

Knowing Mr Emery, he probably won’t start a game for us until Christmas.

They were all poor against us in the final. Because we absolutely did not allow them to be anything but poor.
