Nobody is getting sacked for reaching a semi final in his first tournament. Talk about levels of delusional entitlement.
The vast majority of the country must be delusional.

No disagreement there.

I'm here for this. The big disappointment from Wednesday was getting notice that the Hacienda do in Digbeth on August bank holiday was cancelled.

I wouldn’t say entitled,  i think England have flattered to deceive with probably the least difficult route

Played well in 1 1/2 games to be told by the manager we played best against

Argentina and did not collapse but the players have issues with their mental DNA.

Not saying sack him but Should not have given him
an extended deal

The Southgate era suggests that as soon as the topic of the England manager comes up, normally quite sensible people suddenly turn into frothing-at-the-mouth lunatics.

TT being smarmy in an interview accepting blame but not really accepting it.
Bin him off.
Yes sack him now. He was brought in to not reach a semi final but to go that one step further. His job was to change that mentality he keeps going on about. His job was to make big and appropriate changes in game. He has not changed the mentality and he fucked up big time in the "in game changes". What's the point of keeping him in place?

I think he should be sacked because I do not see how he can have the faith and trust of the players.

I’m in the not sack him camp but feel he could have been slightly less disingenuous on admitting to the fact he utterly fucked it on Wednesday night. I think the wider issue of the night is are the players in anyway culpable even if we accept that Tuchel totally fucked it up?

Of course, but it is difficult to see how they were supposed to react.
It seems that he shot from the hip, this did not appear to be a rehearsed event , there is very good analysis deeper in the thread. Konsa for Gordon sub was truly bonkers under the circumstances.
It’s his reaction after and even now insisting he was right.
He threw the players under the Bus with his English DNA stuff. How could the players trust him after this?

Fair points CL, when he went Gordon/Konsa he should have immediately done Kane/Watkins as well. I think it was South American expert Tim Vickery who has correctly identified that Kane without wingers is a liability and Argentina’s weakness was Kane playing with wingers. I think Managers do get it wrong sometimes not in itself and issue but the magnified nature of an every 4 years WC Semi is quite the moment to have a full on tactical meltdown but I suppose it’s up to the FA now of whether to stick or twist. I’d stick personally but I realise others feel more strongly.

Not me I always liked our Gareth. There may have been an odd remark in the moment from me  but normally he was a hero.

This is the bit I just don’t get. England as “football nation”, all this it’s coming home bollocks have won 1 trophy of any note in its entire history. Coming home to what exactly? Yes Tuchel made some tactical decisions that might be considered errors. But the game was getting away from England before he added more defensive subs. It didn’t work and the Argentinian press with their world class players plus the best player in the world was too much in the end. There is a lot of blame to go round from the manager through to very highly paid, overly glorified players who failed in a big moment.

But the reactions that England deserved more is just ludicrous. England got what they deserve. It is always the same. Massive hype, media just talking things up to a complete frenzy and then it falling flat. Mainly because England as a football nation is just not good enough. The players are not good enough as a unit. It’s been the case for all of our lives unless you were around for 66. The world has caught up and some just screamed on by with players and systems that are just better. So we will get this all again in 2 years time at the Euros. We will play a bunch of shit teams to qualify. Everyone will be really hyped up yet again about it coming home and by the time the final comes around and some other teams are in it, we will go through the same post mortem blaming whoever the manager is at that time.
